its official stated that it means ALONE

I like the AS ONE theory...but it's reaching a little. More than likely, there is some silly explanation as to why all the songs start with S. Maybe it really is as simple as summer.

I wish this was a little more obvious like HOPE with FIVE. The message here is alluding most people.

Really nice theory. Above all when you know that she said that the mini-album was a kind of sequel of A ONE as she wrote a bunch of songs that wasn't used on the album.

I agree, I think it would be nice if we'd get a clear cut answer. But I also think leaving it open like this is nice too: fans can interpret it in whatever way they feel is right for them. It could be "As One", "Atone" or "Alone" (probably many more).
In a way I see it kind of like A song for xx where Ayu said the xx could be anyone the listener thinks of, but she has a person she herself "dedicated" it to.

Did she ever say that though? She said that she wrote a lot of material for A ONE and that the cream of the crop ended up on A ONE. I don't recall ever hearing that the mini was related to A ONE at all.

I like to believe that there's a letter missing in A ONE because otherwise that would be one of the most ungrammatical album titles of all time. And, I mean, that's quite embarrassing since her husband is a native speaker.

Well, it's sort of representative of the album being a new start for her, so "A" as in Ayu, and starting from "square one" kind of. It's not really intended to be read like "a title", but it's more like a shorthand way of saying A NEW BEGINNING.

She did say there was a missing letter though as well, and she did an interview which pretty much confirmed that it was "ALONE".

It's nice to know Sorrows is rock and not a ballad with those emotional lyrics. I do hope it is not like Last minute and Memorial address though. And it seems like Shape of love is going to be more like Anna Tsuchiya's song of the same name instead of Miliyah's.

And I really wonder why she changed her mind of the direction. Do you think she was recording songs for a future release, heard these tracks, and wanted them for sixxxxxx? Maybe we will get the upbeat songs at a later time.

I think she may have just been too early in the recording process to say anything, but they included stuff anyway like that RedOne track which is probably sealed away for who knows how long. This is probably why it's better to be more vague about the release at first since it could change quite a bit when they actually start work on it.

Originally, this mini was supposed to have 5 tracks and they were all supposed to be upbeat tracks (think MY ALL, BLUE BIRD, etc. that kind of thing) with Step by step and a RedOne produced dance track but they switched gears when she actually started to make the album.

Don't think it's a matter of expensiveness, i'd rather say that when they announced the upcoming release a long time ago, Ayu herself didn't even know what she was going to do, songs weren't written back then except Step by Step. She probably had in mind to have a summer upbeat track made by RedOne but in the end changed her mind, dunno why.

Sounds unlikely that they'd announce anything just because Ayu has it in minde, doesn't it? Official statements are probably only released after contracts have been signed or whatnots, I imagine.
I'm eager to hear the 3 other songs, I'm ok with ballads since A ONE, since Ayu proved me she still had that ballad talent, and Sorrows got me really excited with those lyrics!

I would prefer uptempo rock track (sth like Love song - I don't really think it will be something aggresive as WARNING/Microphone/is this LOVE?) but the lyrics fits sth like Last links/call/MY ALL/Letter... which is also rock, so it could be anything. Maybe something around It was/(miss)understood?

I don't really think it's a fated type, I guess people would call that song type a ballad. It does have guitar elements but still fated is closer to MOON/Missing emotional ballad track than something you could call "rock".

Personally, I don't even remotely consider any of these songs to be rock...


I'm sure it's the guitar but fated, to be, is an emotional (half)rock ballad. For some reason I only get mid-tempo ballad from MOON and Missing.

I wouldn't mind something quiet during the verses, and then exploding during the chorus, like Free & Easy or HANABI ~episode II~.

Anna Tsuchiya's is Shape of your love not Shape of love so they are not the same name.

Although I'm disappointed we put all our eggs in one basket with that previous cd description that caused us to assume that the cd was going to be all upbeat, one ballad among five other songs is really good for the ballad. With A ONE there were so many ballads that a lot of them blurred with each other but with this mini album that probably won't happen. It'll have it's own character, stand up on two legs and be unique. Hopefully.

Last links, call, and Letter are actually rock tracks. MY ALL, I think, would be filed under disco- or teen-pop. But the others are actually pop-rock. I also have to say that fated and MOON are pop-rock.

I would love something like Free&Easy or HANABI ~episode II~ again, something with big power, epic, not so smooth like her recent songs. I'd love to hear something like what we heard back on I am... / RAINBOW. But I'm not sure if, based on the last 10 years, we'll ever get songs like those again. We can always dream though, right?

Also, totally just dawned on me, but I wonder if the speedy release of sixxxxxx means we won't get a new album next year? Ayu usually pushes out back-to-back releases like this when she doesn't make plans to release a new album for over a year... I know it's a mini-, but this is still only three or four songs from being a full album.

If the "A" standed for Ayumi I think they'd have used her logo, like in A BEST and A BALLADS, right?

lol jk I guess she started writing the songs and maybe she found a pattern or storyline between the songs but the RedOne track did not fit it, so she saved it up for later. As truehappiness said, it was too early to properly announce the mini contents, things were still on beginning and specially when working with arts things can change in the middle of the process

I love the PV, I don't think it's the same as Manny and Maro (thanks god) as shuya is an actor here and not her real life husband/bf.

The only thing is that I hope non of the songs will be on the next original album. Only the to be continued PV along with new songs naturally.

Who knows though we could get something like a winter mini album to answer this album and then on the next spring/summer a total new original album.

Or a winter original album with completely new songs and one of them will have the continuance PV (which I hope would be true).

And I still don't think sixxxxxx is a single disguised as mini album. It was pretty obvious with LOVE and again because they had instrumentals and singles, but sixxxxxx only has original songs, so I doubt those tracks will end up on the next full album.

Getting my budget ready for WIN7ER mini album in December with Winter Diary as the lead track

Now seriously, I am dying to see the full PVs, so far they were looking great, maybe her best videos in a while. And did I miss something or in the end SbS is going to be the last full PV we see? lol

Winter diary doesn't have the same ring as Summer diary does to me for some reason. But it could definitely work.
