Yesterday Bokura no ongaku Our Music was broadcast.
The guest is ugly Japanese male rocker,Mukai Shutoku(ex-Number Girl),and I like him.
Ringo was also there as a guest since she respects him a lot and talked with him and sang there.
I could watch only one scene of Mukai yesterday.
Next week guests are Ryuichi Sakamoto and Japanese actress,Takako Tokiwa.

BanFan 9th July 2005 09:32 AM

*Really needs to buy the Tokyo Jihen album and some Shiina Ringo singles (Gips, Stem & Mayonaka Wa Junketsu ) and albums...*

*Steals sxesven's collection* So...much...o-o;

Next time I'm in LA (Probably August 10th), I'm going to pick up any Shiina Ringo singles I can find at 2nd hand/cheaper stores, and maybe 1 album (Probably her 3rd original one) at Kinokuniya. :yes :yes

I don't have a single Shiina Ringo item (Or mp3 because pirated mp3s=ebil)!! :weep

Thanks for the news! Always glad to hear updates on our beloved Ringo-chan.

BanFan, good luck in finding some Ringo stuff, hope you'll be able to pick up some!

Here's the song that Mukai Shutoku and Shiina Ringo sang together on Bokura no Ongaku 2:

Thanks BigJimmyC for uploading Shiina Ringo's albums, I listened to the first half of 'Karuki Zaamen Kuri No Hana'. Wow. Getting to listen to the second half of it this Christmas will be quite nice, since that first half was amazing. ^-^

How are the pictures in it? I've seen the front and back thanks to J-pop Help, so I assume the inside is just as good. :D

~K+ 17th August 2005 10:46 AM

The last track Souretsu is amazing. As for the booklet it's pretty thick, it's got pictures of some of her electric guitars and various other interesting instruments she used in the album. And of course, pictures of her in the 2 costumes featured on the album poster.

PSYCHEDELICOdust 21st August 2005 11:22 PM

Homanz, Dynamite Out is orgasmic.

sxesven 13th September 2005 11:12 PM

Apparently Shiina is now dating Hirama! WTFz0rz!

~K+ 14th September 2005 01:37 AM

Whoa! Say, can someone post a picture of the TJ members with their names attached, I still don't know who is who...

Isthan 15th September 2005 02:41 PM

Yay for Shiina Ringo!
Meisai, Ringo no Uta, Kuki, Shuukyou, Tsumiki Asobi, Keikoku, Okonomi De and Torikoshi Kurou are my favorites. I really love her jazzy-rock style.

I have just a few questions: What is Yokushitsu? It sounds like a remix of La Salle De Bain...

Second question: What is La Salle De Bain-song about? The lyrics, I mean.

so wash me cut me i am underwater
my lungs and breathing are quite affected
please watch me closely and do check to see
i dry out completely i dry through and through
come shine me tear me i am underwater
relying completely on zero gravity
and when i do melt down entirely immediately
bon appçtit

I don' t get it... Please someone tell me!

sxesven 15th September 2005 03:03 PM

La Salle De Bain is actually a 'remix' of Yokushitsu. Yokushitsu originally appeared on 2000's Shouso Strip - for the Ringo No Uta single, Ringo-chan recorded a different version in the cabaret-like she had come to use relatively often by then.

As for the lyrics, I'm clueless. I don't ever really analize any lyrics, so I can't help you with that.

luminaire 15th September 2005 03:27 PM

A little dose of semi-TJ-related news, Hata drummed for Nakashima Mika on "MY MEDICINE", one of the 3 B-sides to her new NANA single "GLAMOROUS SKY". Nifty. =)

sxesven 15th September 2005 03:43 PM

Ooh, nice, I gotta check that out. Thanks, luminaire!

PSYCHEDELICOdust 15th September 2005 04:43 PM

Go Hata.

And on the la salle de bain note, <3 la salle de bain. LOL

BanFan 16th September 2005 06:26 AM

Ok...I feel so Shiina Ringo deprived.

All the Oni fans will hate me for doing this, but I'm taking her '02 Live DVD off my Christmas List and putting on 'Shouso Strip'. "GIBS" and several other songs are impossible to resist!! Her 3rd album's on the list already too. I already have 'Sugar high' and 'the Ultimate Collection', so I'll save live Oni for another time. *Can't wait until Christmas*

sxesven 16th September 2005 08:13 AM

Shouso Strip is an excellent choice! Used to be my favourite Ringo-chan album for a long while - you definitely can't go wrong with it. Speaking of which, I should order the Kabuki Choo and Koufukeron 3" singles some time to complete my collection. Diddly-darn.

Okay, thanks. Weird, I thought that La Salle De Bain was the original mix.

I like the song so I feel a little stupid when I don't understand what she is singing about... I guess I'm trying to figure it out on my own then.

Happii 16th September 2005 08:19 PM

Okay, I hate to appear pushy but I really need this information. This is a post I posted here a while ago and I couldn't get any replies. I hope you can help me here.

Questions...

Can someone upload...
STEM Single versions of Meisai and Ishiki
Tokyo no Onna from Gibs single
Private from Ryoko Hirosue's Jeans single

Is the English STEM that was in the Analog (vynil) edition of Karuki Zaamen Kuri no Hana the same as the one in STEM single?
What is the exact title of 13----Mado in the B-sides? Which CD does it belong to?
Do demo tracks belong to a CD? If not, how did you get them?
Which CD does A New Way To Fly belong to?
Which version of Shido to Hakuchuumu is the single version? The 4min3sec one or the 3min35sec one?

Oh oh, and I'm looking for a high-resolutioned pic of Shouso Strip album cover. If you have it, please let me know.

sxesven 17th September 2005 01:01 AM

I can't help you with the MP3s right now, because I no longer have webspace (diddly-darn), although I can send the Ringo-chan songs over MSN or the like if no one else has them. Can't help with the Ryoko song though.

As for your questions:

- the vinyl version of Kuki (STEM) has the same arrangement as the CD version, but has English lyrics instead
- as for track 13, 'Medo' - if we're talking about the same b-sides collection that floats around on P2P programs and the like; it's in fact a song called Creep. The original is by Radiohead and can be found on their CD Pablo Honey. Ringo-chan never released it, she just covered it live once.
- the only officialy released demo tracks will be ones you find on singles, there hasn't been a b-sides or demo collection. Mostly they're rips from videos, etcetera.
- here's all you need to know about A New Way To Fly
- the 3:35 one, the 4:03 one can be found on Muzai Moratorium

As for the pic, I may have one, but I'm not sure. If I find it, I'll post it.

Happii 18th September 2005 07:19 PM

Thank you very much for your help ^^

This is the 13----Mado I'm talking about. It sounds nothing like Radiohead's Creep for me. I downloaded it from the Shiina Ringo b-sides BigJimmyC posted.

BanFan 18th September 2005 07:40 PM

Christmas and my two Shiina Ringo CDs seem so far away...*sigh*

I've been listening to 'Mesai' and 'GIBS' constantly on J-fan. ^-^'

BanFan 29th September 2005 05:45 AM

I decided to get my first Shiina Ringo/Tokyo Jihen CD: Sonan! :)

I watched the live and fell in love with the song all over again. Along with this CD, I'm getting hitomi's self portrait and Road of Major's 2nd Album CD+DVD (Christmas present for my twin), both OS. :D

PSYCHEDELICOdust 29th September 2005 11:14 PM

Nice choice, although I'd of gone for Gunjou for the Lady is a tramp cover. I've got both anyways.

masa 30th September 2005 03:20 PM

I thought "Kyouiku" by Tokyo Jihen was not matched with the three original albums by Shiina Ringo. But I've listened to it again recently and changed my mind. "Kyouiku" is a well-made, excellent album containing four or five really fascinating songs. And Ringo even wrote excellent English lyrics herself in this album -- "Genjitsu o warau". I suppose this song will make a smash hit in English-speaking countries, if it's sold there as a single. How talented she is !

I agree with you! Genjitsu o warau is excellent! Although I still believe that her other three albums are slightly better, I must say Kyouiku is a well-made album.

Oh, thank you so much! I've got all the information I wanted AT LAST!

Shiina Ringo - Kageriyuku Heya

Anyone hear the new single yet, for jihen? I saw the cover art, it was great =)

PSYCHEDELICOdust 9th October 2005 10:11 AM

The cover art rules. I haven't heard a preview yet though, find one around?

~K+ 9th October 2005 11:46 AM

The new cover is hot as always, but one thing that's OMG-worthy. She's using English on the cover for the name of their band! She almost always sticks to Japanese.

For those who haven't seen it:

sxesven 9th October 2005 11:54 AM

Yup, looks excellent--like it a lot! And indeed, quite OMG-worthy, the use of Tokyo Incidents on the cover.

OMG!

Haven't heard it yet though, is it any good?

~K+ 9th October 2005 01:15 PM

I'm getting a little LiT vibe from the cover with that hotel bed. :P

luminaire 9th October 2005 03:59 PM

Shuraba's a great song. Really like the bridge.

The video....I'm not fond of them in all white, although I suppose its a good contrast to the last 'intro' video, Gunjou.

I like Ringo with short hair ._.

I liked the PV preview on the official site, Gunjo Biyori's PV was too...normal.

And she looks good in blonde wigs.

Edit: And the song is good, listening to PV rip.

BanFan 24th October 2005 07:47 AM

I've got an open spot on my January 7th order, and I'm thinking of getting Ringo no Uta. I've listened to 'Ringo no Uta' and I can't stop listening to 'La salle de bain'!

So how's the 3rd track and what are the DVD contents? The Ringo no Uta PV is her in different PV costumes, and what's the mole unplugged thing? Thanks anyone who can offer any info. I'm pretty sure I'll get this unless something else gets released, but I'll probably still get this. :)

I might add Tokyo Jihen's new single too, since I really liked it after watching the PV. :D

Also, in relation to SR/TJ, I drew a picture of Shiina Ringo from Tokyo Jihen's Sonan PV during US History, but I lost it!! :(

~K+ 24th October 2005 08:50 AM

The 3rd track, 'Ringo Catalogue' is noisy with alot of sounds. Took me a while to get used to, but sxesven might give you a much better description of it.

The DVD consists of two PVs, the original 'Ringo no uta' PV you see on TV. And the unplugged mole version, which is just her standing there singing in front of a plain background. But she's dressed in all her old costumes, and they keep changing every few lines. It switches from head shots to half body shots. They show an apple shaped candle in the music break of the song.

Hmm...I swear I made more screenshots years ago, but I can't find them at the moment. Could only dig these up.

PSYCHEDELICOdust 24th October 2005 10:27 AM

Didn't you have a sig set out of them? I liked that.

I rather liked Ringo Catalogue. Great single buy.

sxesven 24th October 2005 11:12 AM

Ringo No Uta was an excellent single, good buy. Ringo Catalogue sounds a bit noisy indeed. It's in fact a one-track compilation of a bunch of older Ringo tracks (some almost unrecognizably deformed) with some new stuff, so it's a lot of fun to hear all these elements from good old Ringo songs plunged together. The videos are pretty cool as well.

BanFan 25th October 2005 12:52 AM

*Gasps* 'La salle de bain' has a PV?!

Thanks to that one SR/TJ fansite with screencaps, I've decided to add this to my January order. It looks so cool, and apparently the CMs are really nice and there's a funny bonus clip. $35 seems steep, but 'meisai' and 'La salle de bain' are reason enough to buy it.

What are everyone's views on Shiina Ringo's styles? Some prefer her older, rock stuff, but I really like everything starting at "creepy blue eyes" single, when she got more experimental. But I also like 'Shouso Strip' a lot too...

Edit:I was talking about her 3rd PV collection if anyone was confused...:P

sxesven 25th October 2005 01:20 AM

I personally like every Ringo period, from the relatively simple alternative rock on Muzai Moratorium through the more complex alternative rock on Shouso Strip all the way to the completely schizophrenic avant-garde Karuki Zamen Kuri No Hana.

The 'creepy blue eyes', I take it that's Mayonaka Wa Junketsu? I must say I don't think that's a very good example of Ringo-chan's musical evolution that eventually resulted in Karuki Zamen Kuri No Hana. It's excellent, but quite standard, only different from earlier material because of the collaboration with Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra. The alternate version of Sid To Hakuchuumu showed once more Ringo's love for old big band and jazz, but it didn't really prepare anyone for Karuki Zamen Kuri No Hana, I think. Aisako No Chousoku was flat-out brilliant by the way, one of my favorite b-sides, but once again, quite standard in comparison to later work.

If I had to choose, I'd go with her KZK-period. Ringo really outdid herself then. KZK is a masterpiece (in my top 100 of all time it ranks at #4) that will never cease to amaze its listeners. Of course, I couldn't live without her older albums either, and I must add that I think that some of Ringo's b-sides are some of her best songs/covers (Aisako No Chousoku, Tokiga Boosoosuru, Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You). So eh, hard to choose, haha.

Meisai isn't on the Ringo No Uta single by the way, but on Kuki (STEM) ~daimyo asobi hen~, and on KZK of course. I'm not sure if you knew that, your post confused me there, haha. :)

BanFan 25th October 2005 01:22 AM

Whoops! I forgot to say what I was getting...><;

On my last post I meant that I'm buying her 3rd PV collection DVD. :)

Yeaaaah, you remembered it. But I can't find where I saved my sig. I could only find my real life ver. Mayonaka wa junketsu avatar.

I never understood how 'Ringo Catalogue' was a compilation of all of Ringo's old hits. I could never pick any out of it. O_O Unless it's a purely lyrical thing.

None of the songs on 'Ringo no uta' being featured on her albums is another reason to buy. And the jewel case (if you buy the Japan version) isn't a regular jewel case, it seems to be made of thicker material.

The lyrics to 'La salle de bain' leaves me scratching my head though. :laugh

I'd love to buy her 3rd PV collection just for 'Mayonaka wa junketsu', but the price is way too steep for a DVD with 5 clips IMO.

But I really agree with sven on the B-sides, she makes some of the best B-sides I've ever heard, and excellent cover versions. The fact that pretty much every one of her singles have at least 2 B-sides (and excellent ones) makes all of her singles good buys.

Haha, well I can imagine how they're hard to hear. Some examples: 0:00 to 0:04 has the exact same drum opening as Tadashii Machi but slightly faster; 0:36 to 0:39 has the guitar riff from Kabuki-Choo No Jyoou; 1:09 to 1:11 and 1:21 to 1:23 have the piano from Akane Sasu Kiroterasaredo; 1:50 to 1:52 has the guitar from Gibbs. There's more stuff like this, but some of it is extremely difficult to find. I can remember there being something about the lyrics as well (wasn't it composed of lyrics to earlier songs or something?) but I'm not entirely sure.

Completely agree. I'd love to have her PV collections, but over $30 for 30 minutes of material is simply outrageous. It's a pity that all her DVDs are so f'n expensive, they don't even look fancy or anything, leave for the special edition of Electric Mole. Most come in a regular jewel case even.

BanFan 25th October 2005 04:34 PM

The DVD has (For $35 on Yesasia):
1.Yattsuke Shigoto*
2.Mayonaka wa junketsu*
3.Meisai
4.STEM*
5.Ichijiku no Hana*
6.La salle de bain
7.Really spiffy CMs
8.Some puppet show thing...

*Songs I won't already have on my album and single.

I would die of happiness if I got the first press edition, but it'll probably be way out of stock after 2 years and 5 months (January order)....*looks for the Yahoo auction pics*

http://img209.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/u...85pic00002.jpg

~K+ 26th October 2005 01:08 PM

Eh? I didn't know it had all that. o_O

But yeah, the live version of 'yattsuke shigoto' is awesome, as is the single version of 'kuki~STEM~Daimyou asobi hen', and 'Mayonaka wa junketsu'. Those 3 are some of my favourite Ringo songs.

I know you prefer not to download stuff, but if you want to hear 'Ichijiku no Hana' in CD quality, you might want to download that one song, because it's only included with her Baishou Ecstasy DVD as a bonus single disc.

And yeah, it would be really spiffy if it had the 'KZK' album CMs. Which is more or less a puppet show come to think of it...

'Mayonaka wa junketsu' is one of my favourite PVs too, full animated.

PSYCHEDELICOdust 26th October 2005 09:58 PM

PSYCHEDELICOdust 2nd November 2005 08:36 PM

Once again, I'm all over the jazz cover they did on this single. Sounds great, its all transformed. And I love that 2nd b-side, very much so. \

<3 this single.

ImpactBreaker 2nd November 2005 11:28 PM

Oh most of the Tokyo jihen songs weren't really that striking to me other than Sounan. I'm glad Shuraba is actually a very great song. The arrangements are very rich actually, it's almost a salad of different genres of music mixed together and that mix actually came out with a very good result. The song rather leaves me puzzled as at first listen I was thinking it would be a certain kind of genre of music and it takes different pathways. And the best thing is, it actually doesn't sound random or chaotic, flowing really nicely. Very interesting.

luminaire 3rd November 2005 02:07 AM

I love "rakujitsu" - it's so jazzy. I wonder if Ringo realises that she's a pretty good jazz writer. =)

"shuraba" is another excellent single from them, I really need to get down to buying Ringo's and Jihen's singles one of these days. =X

PSYCHEDELICOdust 5th November 2005 07:33 PM

I'm amused, Shuraba and Shoso Strip came to the house on the same day <3

I'm still amazed at how pretty the cover is for Shuraba and I can't wait to watch the MS live for the song.

Ringo's so pretty on the CD for Shoso ^_^

~K+ 6th November 2005 02:07 AM

Too bad the discart for Shouso looks kinda tacky though...

Assuming you brought the Jpn version for Shouso, is the paper the cover is printed on matte and grainy?

I got KSK for Christmas. Amazing album, music and packaging-wise. She really did a lot of the music production for it. I'm so glad I got it. The end of the last track is really freaky.

I can't possibly give it a rating. It's that incredible.

Pretty cool cover. I wonder how's the scent for the ADULT Pour Homme. Thanks for the update ~K+

MsMiyabi 30th December 2005 05:16 AM

I know this may sound dumb but why did Shiina remove her mole? And btw this is my first time seeing this thread.

sxesven 30th December 2005 12:36 PM

Just noticed the new album on YesAsia the other day - thanks for the tracklists and everything, ~K+. Really looking forward to this one. Ltd. version looks very interesting, I might get that one. The cover reminds me of some coverart by a Dutch band called Relax, by the way:

Excellent cover though, looks brilliant.

It's something like changing identities from Shiina Ringo solo, to Shiina Ringo in a band. I'm sure ~K+, sxesven or someone who knows her better can clarify this or correct me.

In other news, I can't stop listening to 'Karuki Zamen Kuri no Hana', it's so good! o_o;

Well thank you anyway, Your answer does help me

Peachilicious 1st January 2006 10:33 PM

Sorry for the stupid question, but does the regular version of "Adult" come with a perfume too? I thought only the limited edition version does, but someone on the Ringo Jihen forum said that there were two different versions of the perfume. Can anyone clarify?

BanFan 7th January 2006 04:17 AM

New Tokyo Jihen PV 'Kenka Joutou' premiered in Japan today.
It's track two of the new album. I can't wait to see it. ^-^

PSYCHEDELICOdust 7th January 2006 03:11 PM

PV just came out on JPS =D

Don't think the normal edition comes with Perfume, hadn't heard about that o_o

evolution105 7th January 2006 08:20 PM

I know what u mean.

sxesven 24th January 2006 12:14 PM

Now I know Xinlisupreme is an odd band, being familiar with their music. I just noticed the following image on their website though:

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ven/header.jpg

Like, huh? I'm not sure why it's there. Maybe they like Tokyo Jihen, or whatever - but it's just plain weird, lol.

Xinlisupreme official website

~K+ 24th January 2006 12:33 PM

They also have Aya Ueto on their website for some reason, haha.

sxesven 24th January 2006 12:50 PM

Ah, is that who she is, haha. Their website's just too odd right now, weirder than it's ever been. Oh yeah, the slight alteration in the TJ logo there, does that make any difference in its meaning or anything?

/edit/

Oh, and btw:

Adult rocks so hard.

Damn.

sexysaucestar 25th January 2006 06:03 AM

Whoa...yeah..this is my first time seeing this thread o_o Tokyo Jihen's new album features perfume? That's fun :D Shiina Ringo is awesome.

JimmyKoria 25th January 2006 06:48 AM

The new Jihen album is good, but for some reason it isnt sticking in my head. This is stressful because I was such a big Ringo fan and there isnt a single song on the album that gets stuck in my head.

~K+ 25th January 2006 09:41 AM

I'm loving this one so far (unlike the case with 'Kyouku'), will have to listen to it a few more times before I can list my favourites though.

Looks like I'll have to pick this one up when there's an OS release.

It may take some time - I'll admit straight away that KZK took a lot of time before it really got stuck in my head, and it's my favourite Ringo solo album. I love the sound of the new TJ album and, although it's not stuck in my head yet, I'm sure that will happen - just as with Kyoiku, which I totally loved as well.

BanFan 25th January 2006 04:29 PM

sxesven, or anyone who has listened to the new album:
Is Shuraba -ADULT Ver.- very different from the single version?

MsMiyabi 25th January 2006 08:39 PM

Adult is number 1 on Oricon.

IM SOO GLAD.

~K+ 26th January 2006 12:39 AM

From Yahoo! Auctions Japan. Looks like the special packaging is the type they used for Nakashima's "Oborozukiyo~Inori" and SPEED's "Carry On My Way."

BanFan - > Softer drums, jazzier guitars, and less noise.

ImpactBreaker 26th January 2006 01:27 AM

I prefer the single version of Shuraba, it had cooler effects and it was a richer song, but the album version is still pretty good, the best song in the album even with the changes. The ending of the album version, though, is actually much cooler than the single version..."a la WONDERLAND" I would dare to say.
This album is definitely much better than Kyoiku but there are still a great proportion of forgettable tracks. :( And the fact they "plannified" the album by making shuraba jazzier made it a bit too homogeneous. Ah, and Superstar and Blackout are excellent songs indeed.

BanFan 26th January 2006 02:56 AM

Thanks for the 'Shuraba' info ~K+ and ImpactBreaker. :)

*Can't wait to get his copy of the Korean Version* :D
-----------------------------------------------
One more question: Does the booklet have color themes? They did white in Shuraba's PV, black on the Shuraba packaging and green for the promo shot in my signature. I'm really hoping for some cool colors.

ImpactBreaker 26th January 2006 03:06 AM

LOL I just wish computers could generate smell so that I could "stream" Adult's Pour Homme scent ahah I'm so curious to know how it smells like :P

LOL

I think I'm gonna buy the album anyway.

Anybody smell the perfume yet?

~K+ 27th January 2006 01:41 AM

My favourite tracks at the moment from the album has to be Tegami (this track rocks hard), BLACKOUT, and Keshou Naoshi at the moment.

'Tegami' has that awesome build-up to end the album with a bang like 'Souretsu'. The distortion at the end of 'Keshou Naoshi' that seems completely out of place with the rest of the song is fantastic too.

And bits and pieces of SUPERSTAR reminds me of Gibbs.

<3

PSYCHEDELICOdust 27th January 2006 02:06 AM

ARGH.

I'm actually waiting for my copy of the album to arrive.

This is like a first for me. I hate you people XD

My favourite is actually "Superstar", BECAUSE it does reminds me of "Gips". :P "Tegami" is my 2nd favourite.

I'm actually planning on getting all her solo albums, but as usual, I'm faced with real monetary constraints. Also, they seem to be rather hard to find over here.

But I thought Adult was quite impressive compared to a lot of the other stuff that's out on the market these days. At least I didn't have to skip a lot of tracks. Kyoiku was a little too jarring on the ears IMO, however fun it sounded.

etheruraura 12th July 2006 11:27 PM

This thread is so dead o_o Sad, considering I love Ringo and Tokyo Jihen to death.

I'm so addicted to "Jusui Negai" right now, such an awesome song :yes

BTW: Their new DVD titled "Just Can't Help It" is up for pre order on CDJapan right now.

PSYCHEDELICOdust 12th July 2006 11:52 PM

I can't WAIT for it, the description sounds so awesome @_@

JimmyKoria 13th July 2006 04:59 AM

I love when they played Sourest as an opening. All these kids came out and sang with Ringo while wearing bunny ears. They rock so much, even though I was dissapointed with Adult.

etheruraura 13th July 2006 06:11 AM

^^ I can see why you though it was dissapointing - Kameda like..took over on Adult. I myself thought the album was too slow, even though I love it tons. I wonder how Ringo feels sharing the power now..since Kyoiku is basically a Shiina Ringo solo album in disguise.
