Maaya is quite awesome. This thread needs more posts.

ok thanks for info!
It's why I don't really like this album. T_T |
really?
i think its fantastic. i almost cried when i played through it the first time and i got to kazamidori. i think i really needed this album. |
yes really. I really prefer her first albums. I don't know really why.

New Maaya single, info from JPM:
http://www.jvcmusic.co.jp/maaya Quote:

I think the site says November actually, not October
But yay new single! It's been a while for her it seems |
^ you're right, it does say November, cus the 11th month is November. xD
I'll edit my post now. :) |

I can't wait to hear it^^ November...so long T_T |
Here is a preview of Magic Number it's the title of the new single that will be release in Nov.^^

All of her albums will be re-released!! Quote:

i always forget this thread is in this forum....
but yay for rereleases! its great for fans who dont have her stuff already. also, has anyone else preorderd her upcoming 15 year best album, 'everywhere'? |
I got 'Everywhere' with the bonus DVD, kinda wish Maaya would put more content in her DVDs but its still good to own them. I'm still trying to get all of her albums, I still need Grapefruit, Dive (I will probably get this album last because it is my least favourite) and Yuunagi Loop. Trying to find the limited version which is proving difficult.
|
^limited yuunagi will be tougher to come by. keep your eyes on ebay.
i have to say though, i think that of those three albums, DIVE is the best. it takes a bit longer for its charms to show, but she really started to use some seriously wonderful music with that album. i agree here dvds should have more though. i was hoping everywhere would have all her pvs. we dont have a collection likethat yet. |
^ I wish there was a collection like that. I love her PVs!
Man, I still want to buy Kazeyomi, though. It's my favorite Maaya album. T_T♥ |
Wow, this thread died!! :(
I just got her new album "You can't catch me" yesterday, I really like, I don't think it's as epic as Kazeyomi, but its got some fantastic tracks, particularly "eternal return", "Himitsu", "Utsukushi hito", "Kimi no sei", "Mizumi" and "Topia". I haven't listened to the bonus CD yet, but I plan to do that later on today. Has anyone else ordered or listened to the album? |
I haven't download it yet...
is it good? i will download it today... |
It's really amazing, has a bit of new stuff, but also carries that Maaya flavour that we all love. I wasn't very fond of her latest single "Downtown" either, but I find myself listening to it more than I'm listening to the whole album. :love
|
really solid album...very easy listening as usual...
|
Quote:
The second CD is great too imo the lives are perfect and her voice is as great as ever XD |
I still want to get my hands on her Kazeyomi and GIFT lives. I do wish Maaya produced overseas versions of her works, but hopefully I get them one day.
Its Maaya who got me into Japanese music and Jpop, particularly with the songs "Kiseki no Umi", "Yakusoku wo Iranai" and "Yubiwa" (guess where I heard those?). :innocent |
Is there no Maaya love in this forum? T_T
I got "Driving in the silence" today, it's a really nice mini album. Maaya has been pretty active this year, with her full album "You can't catch me" out in January, 2 singles out in October and November, and now the mini album, it's been a very good year for Maaya fans. :luv2 And the DVD that comes with the album is really great, it's labeled as a "mini movie" but it's basically the PV's for the songs 'Driving in the silence' and 'Sayonara Santa'. The videos are short in the same castle and surroundings as the pics in the booklet. :love |
^i love her music!!!
it's weird that Buddy didn't make it into Driving in the silence |
I love Maaya too! I just got You Can't Catch Me (2CD) and Driving in the Silence (CD+DVD) a couple days ago. Driving in the Silence makes me very happy when I listen to it. I guess it's really a Christmas/holiday CD haha, which I usually don't like, but still. It's all original music and Maaya even wrote one of the songs (perhaps the best song on the album).
I have a feeling we'll be getting another full album soon as well. Maybe within a few months. |
I like the new album, but I think "You can't catch me" is the better of the two. Mainly for Himitsu, Itoshi no Hito and Kimi no sei. :heart
I still need to get the singles Buddy and Okaerinsai, but I can't decide if I want to get the regular or limited editions. I really don't listen to live CDs at all, so it might just be a waste of money for me... but I love Maaya and I try and collect her limited edition things when I can... :thud Has anyone seen her live DVDs? I haven't seen them yet but I want to know what they're like. ^_^ |
*airs out thread*
So I pre-ordered "No more words", the CD+DVD edition. Here's a clip of the radio rip of the single: It sounds so amazing, it reminds me of older songs like Hemisphere and Kuuki to Hoshi. :luv2 |
No one cares about Maaya. :(
Well, she's having a string of concerts in November and December, and I'll be in Japan from the 27th, so I'm hoping to go and see her on the 30th. But it depends on when we're seeing Ayu as well, so nothing's planned. "More than Words" PV clip: Unless someone else posts, I'll talk to myself again in a month! :innocent |
More than words is a nice song. I like the pv. Deko Boko March is amazing too. The arrangements are really well-done. You really hear a train in this song. As if you're traveling toward a beautiful place.
|
I like Maaya's work but I tend to forget checking up on her haha so thanks for posting, Earth_maiden!
More Than Words is really beautiful :heart |
I was bored so I decided to take a picture of my Maaya collection:
Spoiler:
Hoping to find her live DVDs in Japan... as well as attend her live on the 30th of December, depending if the ticket re-sellers have them... :thud |
I like Maaya too! Too bad I didn't see this thread before *sigh*
My most favorite songs by her are Yakusoku wa iranai, Platina and Tomodachi :luv2 |
New release: Single Collection + Mitsubachi
Release Date 2012/11/14 Spoiler:
If that Blu-ray contains many of her old PVs, I will seriously go out and buy a Blu-ray player. :thud |
Good to see a new compilation.
|
So I splurged and bid on some tickets to her 30/12 concert. Noppin won't bid on tickets until they can confirm they're more than 14 days before the date, so I have to wait until tomorrow to see if they're confirmed. BUT OMFG I'M SO EXCITED!!!! :woohoo:
|
I saw Maaya live on the 30th, I will write up a full review later, about to head out the door to go to Disneysea. :D
|
Waiting for your review!! ^^
|
Ohh, that's so awesome! I hope you enjoyed her concert! :heart
|
She was AMAZING, simply AMAZING live. At no point what-so-ever did she have any vocal problems or issues at all, her voice is so powerful and flawless, it differed so much from Ayu's concert. I bought my ticket randomly on YAJ for about 22,500 yen, not caring where I sat... and I ended up in the third row from the stage. I was floored, couldn't believe my luck. :thud
I will write a proper review when I get home, I just don't have time right now. It's 12:30am in Tokyo and I just got home from Tokyo Disneysea and I feel like jelly. :o Also, for every item you bought, you got a free Maaya eco-kairo/pocket warmer, and I bought 2 cds and 2 DVDs, so I have 4 eco-kairos. I'll keep one reserved for you, Koumori, if you would like? :) They're red and heart shaped, soo cute!! :luv2 |
Awww that's so cool :D
|
Okay, so the concert isn't very fresh in my head, but here's what I can remember:
Sun Plaza in Nakano was very easy to find, thankfully. I went over at 3pm and lined up outside in the rain to get some goods: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ps6b24d551.jpg For the record, I didn't see a single foreigner there, only Japanese people, so I felt a little out of place. :innocent After about 45 minutes I bought my goods, then I went off to wander around then came back at around 5:15pm. They had this little thing set up: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ps94100119.jpg I didn't want to ask someone to take a picture of me though so I went without. The foyer was really packed, and later on in the concert I couldn't see a single spare seat. I had no idea where my seat was, it was labelled row 0, seat 50. I was like, wth? So I asked this random salaryman if he knew where it was, he had no idea either, so he took me to one of the staff and they had a conversation in Japanese, then the salaryman took me into the venue and showed me to my seat. I would have been totally lost without him, I was soooo grateful! Here's where I was sitting: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...psfa35c1ec.jpg 3 rows from the stage. I died!! At 6pm the lights went down and the band came out. All the audience would have been content to sit, but the guitarist motioned for everyone to stand up so we, then Maaya came out and we all cheered. She looked amazing, so cute and womanly at the same time. She was wearing a black dress that had these really vivid sunburst designs, and she was wearing this blue feather collar/should pads that were kind of strange. And sneakers. She opened up with Triangler and the whole crowd was dancing and clapping, it was so energetic. Here's the setlist: 1. Triangler 2. DOWN TOWN 3. Spica 4. Ame ga Furu 5. Okaerinasai 6. More than Words (had screens in the background, really amazing) 7. Praline 8. Kimi ni ai ni Ikou 9. Pilot 10. Saigo no Kajitsu (was performed with only a piano accompanying) 11. Bike (right in the middle, Maaya left for about 3 minutes then came back with a costume change. I don't really remember what her second outfit was, sorry!) 12. Buddy 13. action! 14. Private Sky (we all sang the "you be my boyfriend, I'll be your girlfriend" part, so much fun!) 15. Get No Satisfaction! 16. Magic Number 17. Kazemachi Jet (there was a dance!! Very easy to learn and we all danced with Maaya!) 18. Nekoze 19. Loop 20. Pocket wo kara ni shite (we all sang along here, I cried :luv2) ENCORE 21. Mistubachi to Kagakusha 22. Yakusoku wa Iranai 23. Dekoboko March (Tairetsu wa Kimi ni Tsuzuku) The last song was amazing, possibly my favourite part of the night, Maaya and her band walked down into the aisle and marched along like a marching band, she was waving her own flag like a banner and her musicians and singers followed her. When she got back to the stage, she had us all singing the "lah-lah-lah-lah-lah part while she sang the rest of the song. When she first walked down into the aisle she was 2 metres away from me, I smiled and waved at her and she smiled back at me briefly, I died once again. :thud At the end she waved goodbye to us all and threw her flag into the audience. It landed nowhere near me, of course. I could see she had signed the back as well, I would have given anything to catch her flag!! I have to say, all the fast energetic songs had everyone dancing and clapping. There was a woman in her 40's or so next to me, and next to her I think was her husband, he must have been pushing 50 or so, and he was constantly dancing along to every single song that he could. Everyone had so much power and energy, I was really surprised. I was sneaky and took a pic of the stage at the end: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...pse5ce1866.jpg It finished at around 9pm, so it was 3 solid hours, actually longer than the Ayu concert I attended the night before. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience, I'm so grateful I got my ticket randomly on YAJ and ended up in the 3rd row. There are just no words to fully describe Maaya's voice live, she has so much power and strength in her voice, there was NO audible issues or wavering anywhere, she was just totally perfect. :love When my stuff arrives (I had to send them home via EMS) I will take pics of my goodies and everything that came with them. Sorry if my review isn't very detailed, but its been 2 weeks since the concert and most of the finer details have faded from my memory. :( |

Her new single is pretty good. The accoustic version of okaerinasai is even better than the original one.
|
CDJapan dispatched my copy today. I love Okaerinasai so I can't wait to hear the acoustic version! :luv2
|
Her name digital single called sekuraeru is really amazing!! I'll upload it when I get home from work, I'm already late. :D
|
Her digital single, セクレアール for the Monster Hunter: Frontier G game.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/ffmeng It reminds me of Kiseki no Umi and Colors. Really ethereal and inspiring. :luv2 |
Maaya will appear at COUNTDOWN JAPAN 13/14 on the 29.12.
http://countdownjapan.jp/ It seems to be a concert with various artists, not a full countdown live concert like she did last year. |
The new song is good. It's Maaya's classic. ^^
|
^It's really amazing! :love
Maaya will be singing the new theme songs for two anime shows in the coming winter. The first is the ending theme for Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha, and the second will be the opening song for Seikai Seifuku ~ Boryaku no Zvezda. Looking forward to two new singles soon!! source: http://www.maayasakamoto.net/ |
The songs are called SAVED and Be Mine!. They'll be release as a single on 2014/02/05.
Happy!! The first episode of Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha'll be broadcast on 01/15 & for Seikai Seifuku : 01/11 Again a little wait before to have preview!! |
I can't wait for the new singles!
Maaya will star in a musical adaption of the drama Daddy Long Legs: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ps1e79aa90.jpg I don't really know what its about, the website has more info: http://www.tohostage.com/ashinaga/intro.html It seems to be based on a Korean drama. |
Will it be broadcast on tv?
I don't know about the korean drama but Daddy-Long-Legs is an american novel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daddy-L...gs_%28novel%29 |
Be mine is out in short version:
|
I love the new songs! Here's the snippet of SAVED:
|
SAVED sounds so beautiful!! ♥__♥
|
Pretty good..both songs
|
The limited edition version includes a mini-live CD from her Singer-Songwriter concert.
1. [Disc1] SAVED. 2. [Disc1] BE MINE! 3. [Disc1] KOE 4. [Disc1] SAVED. -Instrumental- 5. [Disc1] Be mine! -Instrumental- 6. [Disc1] 声 -Instrumental- 7. [Disc2] TOOKU 8. [Disc2] GRAPEFRUIT 9. [Disc2] CLOUD 9 10. [Disc2] park amsterdam(the whole story) 11. [Disc2] SCRAP-WAKARE NO UTA 12. [Disc2] SINGERSONGWRITER Koe is the "Monster Hunter Frontier G" original theme song. I'm hoping it actually sekuraeru and they've just got the name wrong, since I heard that the latter was going to be on this new single. |
^"Koe" is a Japanese language version of "Secrear", the monster hunter song.
the original version is in...? a fake language? i dunno... |
The single sounds really awesome, and I love Koe!! I'm just waiting on my copy to show up from Yesasia.
I went through my mediafire account and I've got all of Maaya's albums and some random tracks uploaded if anyone wanted to download them? Or if they haven't of Maaya before and wanted to sample some of her music. |
The single is really great. Koe and SAVED are just wonderful! ♥
|
Yeah, all three tracks are solid really. Be Mine! is a bit chaotic, but it's something that can be warmed up to in not much time.
its really too bad that the covers are so...not good. hahahaha maaya consistently has gorgeous and unique covers, so these are really disappointing. especially when the single is so solid. |
I don't think she has consistently great covers, her hashiru and Shounen Alice covers aren't that great. I like the Be mine covers more than I like some of her similiar looking covers, like Loop or Kazemachi Jet.
I think Hajimari no Umi is my favourite Maaya cover. I love the colours and the full body shot of her by the (probably CG) pool. I think the cover I dislike the most would be Nikopachi. I don't even know what's happening or why she's wearing a cooking mitt... |
new song and PV! i like it, title [Replica]
|
I received the single today, going to upload it soon. It's very classic Maaya, I really like it!! The b-side isn't one of her best, but it's enjoyable. I think the bonus live CD is the best part.

watanabe mayu? AKB48?
|
^Apparently
|
I'm afraid by this release, seriously. I'm really not sure if the covers'll be good. For me, Maaya's voice is so beautiful that I don't imagine others singing some of her most beautiful songs as perfectly as she does it.
|
^I know what you mean, I preordered it anyway since I collect all her works. When it arrives I can rip it and share if it doesn't get posted here before that.
|
I've been hesitant to pre-order this for the same concerns you guys have expressed.
the second disc seems kind of useless, unless you don't own any Maaya material already...but then, why would you want the cover album? |
I listened to her new digital single Kore Kara! OMG this song is just sublime! The melody is perfect and there is flute in the arrangement :luv2
|
^wheredid you hear it?
|
I downloaded it from here :
http://hikarinoakariost.info/maaya-s...igital-single/ |
I adore kore kara! CDJ emailed me today saying my "Sakamoto Maaya 20th Anniversary Tribute Album "Request" " is on its way. Have you guys seen the covers? They're a joke. :(
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...pslesncokk.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...psta68yn2o.jpg |
Not great. The Concert Venue Edition Slipcase Cover that I found on generasia is better :
http://img.imagesia.com/fichiers/wz/...wz92_large.jpg Well, it's only a tribute album so it's ok. I listened to Request. the band apart slaughtered Yakusoku wa Iranai X_X. Seriously, it's the first song I heard from Maaya and it's one of my favourite. This arrangement ...how is it possible that they didn't realize how bad is it and how it doesn't match the song at all??? KIRINJI did a good job Uchuu Hikoushi no Uta. I don't know her/them but the singer has a good voice. I'm not fond of Watanabe Mayu'sthe voice (too high-pitched and shrill from time to time). But her version of Triangler isn't bad.Though I prefer Maaya's version. TRUSTRICK... I listened to them some month ago with their first album Eternity; Kanda Sayaka and her beautiful voice♥. I really like what this duo made with Ame ga Furu Really, I'm not into vocaloid at all. However I think that what Sugizo and IA did with Bike is interesting. They gave another dimension to the song even if it'll never beat the original song. Is Suzuki Syoko the person who composed Saigo no Kajitsu? I'm no fond of her voice. Her version is really pared-down and the harpsichord make it heavier. Hikari Are Jazzy version!! Interesting but the instrumentation is a bit too repetitive. I got bored around the half of the song. :/ Negicco...I learned it was a idol band >.< Well, at least they didn't slaughter platinum but I think their version is very ordinary. Kiseki no Umi made by ARAI AKINO is an torture. The arragement is really interesting and unordinary but her vocal! Seriously, she can't sing >.< my poor ears. afternoon repose so-so. Not bad not good. It's easy on the ear. However it's not transcendent and it's too repetitive. Pocket wo Kara ni Shite make me laugh. The arrangement is nice. Slighty old rockish style. The way of singing of the man is sooo funny. Sometime there is a lack of conviction and sometime he sings with his heart. I don't know why but I find that funny. I would like to hear Maaya singing this song with MAGOKORO BROTHERS's arrangement. I think she could do a wonderful and better job. |
^I am going to be trolling YAJ for that slipcase. :luv2
|
I got my copy today and I'm not as disappointed as I thought I'd be. The first and last songs are definitely the worst of the entire album. I really enjoyed the VOCALOID-esque version of BIKE. But my favourite song was thoroughly butchered. I don't think I ever want to hear your voice again, ARAI AKINO. :no
|
^yes, kiseki no umi's cover is a slaughter. I deleted it from my pc and played the original 10 times to wash my ears. X_X
|
Maaya has a new single coming out on the 17th of June.
Anata wo Tamotsu Mono http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/VTCL-35211 It was composed by Cornelius. I've never heard of them/him (her?), has anyone else? |
I suppose it's him :

interesting tracklist...her singles have been a bit more cute/sugary than i love to hear from her for the last little bit. but then tokyo samui is on there too...it could do, but it makes me curious how the rest of the album will sound.
love the covers as usual! she looks SO different with long hair!! the canadian dollar is absolute shit right now, so its going to be a bit of a wait before i can order this. :/ |
CM for the FOLLOW ME live dvd and blu-ray that will be release on 2015/11/25
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dP3FZvE5EGQ |
Looking forward to her live...
I always like her concert...but looks like this one has a really small budget on stage production...the stage looks so empty for big venue... |
The live looks great. I hope that tracklist is bit more mixed up though, I hate it when albums clump singles together like that.
|
Previews for the new album are out on amazon
|
I'm going to wait until I get my copy to listen. If I can... :D

When I saw her live in 2012 I really wanted her to sing Kiseki no Umi, but she didn't. Now it seems she sings it at most concerts. :(

I'm really loving the new album! My favourite tracks are Waiting for the rain, Aruko, road map and follow me. Hajimari no umi sounds a bit out of place though, but I wasn't too keen on it in the first place.

You're lucky to hear the song. The voices are too loud and distracting for me so I really can't have a view about it. I'll wait for a proper preview.
