I have it. I was hoping that the Serious video would be on it, like I heard in some forum months ago... But the live DVD is really fun and nice. The Harajuku girls really kick the tail! Love is my favorite Harajuku Girl~ And she did a tour with the Diva Koda Kumi before :D

thinkingoutloud89 16th December 2006 12:57 PM

cool...so I should buy it...even tough amazon germany pushed the price from 15€ to 21 €

Mad_Cactuar 16th December 2006 01:17 PM

You mean the video clip for Serious isn't on it?! :mad

moombasista 16th December 2006 11:09 PM

I didn't think the DVD was that great :no

Gwen sounds horrible live IMO. It's likes she's all out of breath

Halla 17th December 2006 07:24 PM

I bought the Harajuku lovers DVD , and I think it's good. Gwen & the Harajuku girls put on a great show. Gwen sounds good live & the costumes & coreography are cool too.

the DVD has crappy extras tho , 'meet the band & dancers' feature is just a bunch of text bios.

Weslicious 18th December 2006 10:14 AM

The behind the scenes extra was kinda cool though. The DVD was a cut and paste job of 2 nights of the tour. I had a bootleg of one of the Anaheim shows and it's identical to a few on the DVD. I was hoping she'd keep that version of Serious because one of her dancers proposed to his g/f.

Dissapointed about no Serious video. :(

moombasista 23rd December 2006 03:39 AM

Gwen is totally dying on the charts! :bawl

Hot 100: down to #12 (single)

Top 200: down to #14 (album)

OMFG! NEW SINGLE NOW!

Kobayashiwoof 23rd December 2006 03:46 AM

Im sure yummy will boost this album! Im kinda sad that hardly anyone bought this album <_<

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 23rd December 2006 04:11 AM

Yep, i'm sure the album will go up with new singles, especially yummy.

Mad_Cactuar 23rd December 2006 08:20 AM

Ooh sista, you forgot to mention, new entry by Gwen too. :P

NEW #93 Gwen Stefani ft. Akon - The Sweet Escape

Despite the album dropping, it still sold around 150,000 copies. :bshake A very small drop (approximately 38%) compared to B'Day (65%) or FutureSex/LoveSounds (68%) or (miss)understood (88%).

ayu_ayu301 23rd December 2006 06:19 PM

I just watched the Harajuku lovers DVD ...
and I'm just always disappointed in Gwen's live singing of "what you waiting for". Probably because I love the song a lot back then when it was released and she never sound nearly the same in live.

Mad_Cactuar 31st December 2006 03:23 PM

OMG! Sales update, I forgot to do it on Thursday...

#14 Gwen Stefani - The Sweet Escape 211,609 copies sold
Last week: #14 with 148,787 copies sold.
42% up from last week. :eek In other words, the CD is doing exceptionally well, still.
Total Sales: 603,807 in 3 weeks.

CD sales have been amazing this week despite the #1 album only selling 354,524 units, because every CD in the Top 20 sold more than 160,000 copies.

#72 Gwen Stefani - The Sweet Escape ft. Akon
Up 21 spots from last week! :bshake Audience have surpassed 17 million recently.
Total Spins: 2129 spins (+62)
Total Audience: 17.641 million (+0.498)

All information from UKMIX forums, so credits to them.

Ayu_Fan_00 31st December 2006 06:49 PM

I`m happy The Sweet Escape is doing good.

Am I missing something. what`s imo?

omg, she should make 4 in the Morning a single.

Elsewhere the album is hardly cracking Top 10 though.

In my opinion

Keishi 1st January 2007 06:35 PM

I'm wondering why no one has sue Gwen for portraying a sister in mini skirt. :laugh

Ayu_Fan_00 1st January 2007 07:48 PM

I`m wondering why no one has sued Fergie for copying Gwen

Keishi 1st January 2007 09:30 PM

Fergie did? Ah, and no need to feel attacked/bashed with my comment. I was completely joking about it if you can see my emoticon. ;)

Ayu_Fan_00 1st January 2007 10:06 PM

LOL. sorry. I just don`t like Fergie. That song London Bridge sounds like Gwen`s Hollaback Girl song and that song Glamorous is a rip off of Gwen`s Luxurious remix song. And then Fergie goes out and spells her name in Fergielicious like Gwen spelled out bananas in Hollaback Girl. coincidence? I think not.

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 2nd January 2007 12:28 AM

I also think that Fergie is just a massive copy of Gwen but I liked Fergalicious... but she is still no where near being as good as Gwen.

Hmmm... After listenin' to Gwen and Fergie again, i really gotta say that both own and do different things in sumeway, really. Though you might find sumethings abit similar off and on.

From today on, i won't really stand 'em together anymore, but i still gotta say that Gwen's music is better than Fergie! Hehe... :D

And...... Gwen is just suck at singin' live! So is Ayumi too! Well... Sumetime and most of the time now. Haha... Uh! Oh!

I say, you guys should take your words back into your heart! They're totally different.

It's like comparin' Ayumi and Utada. Oh! Bags, dun't get that started again!

UPDATES!

Gwen's album, The Sweet Escape, fell 3 places down the Billboard 200 this week thanks to a 41% drop in sales. For the week, it sold 38,940 copies, which brings the total sales to 709,325 units. Well, not bad, at least it hasn't left the Top 20 yet, which I hope won't be next week.

Meanwhile, Gwen's second single, The Sweet Escape, climbed a massive 22 spots up the charts! Which is fantastic, as now the track stands at #53, a spot above Nelly Furtado's Maneater. However, I have no idea how it happened, as sales for the song wasn't amazing. It only had a 5% increase in digital downloads with a mere 22955 downloads this week. This also means the song dropped 50 places down the Hot Digital Songs charts to #123. To date, it's had 65,836 downloads. Which pales in comparison to Wind It Up that had 58,049 downloads this week, a 49% drop. Total sales so far amount to 549,834 downloads and it's currently at #13 on the chart mentioned above. On the Hot 100, Wind It Up is at #25, a 10 spot drop.

Mad_Cactuar 15th January 2007 01:55 PM

I loved the video, it's one of her best videos to date! It's so pretty and golden, but I hate the hairdos. And Akon was weirdness.

Singer Gwen Stefani is the inspiration of a novel called Dreaming of Gwen Stefani. In the book, written by Evan Mandrey, the protagonist is Mortimer Taylor Coleridge, a geeky guy working at a fast food restaurant. He is obsessed with Stefani and dreams that she will one day walk into his work place Papaya Queen and fall in love with him. In the last chapter they do meet but things don't go quite according to his dreams, said pagesix.com.

I am going to read that piece of ****!

Mad_Cactuar 16th January 2007 03:55 PM

Let me guess, in the end, Gwen turns out to be a super-nasty ***** and the geek realises every fairytale sucks. Later, in real life, the geeky writer himself gets sued for defamation. Gwen wins and gains more money. The end.

Halla 16th January 2007 07:21 PM

I'm surprised how bad the sales for The Sweet Escape album are. I can understand that because I don't feel the album lives up to her first album. the look & the music videos are really stylish but the songs themself get really tiring after awhile. I'm sick & bored with every song except '4 in the morning' already.

I prefer Fergie's album myself. it's just better eventho it's clearly she's really been "inspired" by Gwen. I think at the moment they're selling around the same amount on weekly sales eventho Fergie's album has been out a lot longer.

firefox 17th January 2007 04:17 AM

Thanks to UKMIX.

bondingo 21st January 2007 05:57 AM

I got The Sweet Escape for Christmas, but I hadn't been listening to it until just recently. It was kind of blahhhh to me when I first listened, but I'm loving a lot more of it now. My favorite tracks are Wind It Up, The Sweet Escape, Yummy, Don't Get It Twisted, and Wonderful Life. Orange County Girl and Now That You Got It still have a lot of growing to do. But I think the sales are relatively low because of not enough exposure to the other singles. It seems that Wind It Up is still the focus in terms of marketing, but that's shifting toward The Sweet Escape, despite the fact that there haven't been many (if any) live TV performances of it.

Mad_Cactuar 21st January 2007 07:26 AM

After looking at all the charts in the US, it can be said that:

Wind It Up was more popular in the sales department.
The Sweet Escape is shaping up yo be a big airplay hit.

moombasista 22nd January 2007 01:27 AM

Well ya know Gwen and No Doubt's albums are usually slow, steady sellers.

They rarely go to #1 but they sell millions eventually. Look at what happened to L.A.M.B., Rock Steady, and Tragic Kingdom.

Those albums never went to #1, started off moderate sales, stayed on the charts for a long time and boom - sold millions

I think it'll be the same with this album. People are just starting to warm up to it :bshake

Mad_Cactuar 22nd January 2007 01:51 AM

Especially "Tragic Kingdom", it's sales are crazy. 10 million to date. :eek

I think that's a nice pic, a little more relaxed and casual. And pale lipstick!

Mad_Cactuar 25th January 2007 12:44 AM

I'd definitely go when she comes here which organisers have reported is highly possible.

Sales this week was crappier with none of the top 10 exceeding 70k. Her 2nd single is surely climbing charts though, it shot up the digital track chart.

moombasista 26th January 2007 12:49 AM

What a crappy sales week :dead2

The album is down to #24

Single up to #19

Weslicious 26th January 2007 06:48 PM

Lady Sovereign?

LOL, that is soo... undescribable. Gwen's been living in the UK long enough to know the general consensus on that "girl". I wonder if she's on the same label. I read today that she's signed to a U.S label now. Ick.

I'm actually kinda dissapointed. Is it going to be a U.S. only tour again? I dunno about the rest of Europe but she could definately sell out venues in the UK.

Mad_Cactuar 27th January 2007 03:33 PM

It's a worldwide tour. It says so in the album too.

At least the single is doing well :bshake

ayu_ayu301 2nd February 2007 07:27 AM

it would suck for Akon to sing that "oowiee" sorta line throughout the whole concert .. hahah why even be there

Mad_Cactuar 2nd February 2007 01:32 PM

I think he's opening her concert too, by singing a few of his songs to start her shows.

No_Doubt 4th February 2007 05:53 PM

I can't wait to see her live. While as a vocalist she's all over the place, she's at least a fantastic performer. Rock concerts are still her forte, but I think she'll put together a great show since she has more material to work with. As for the openers, I'm looking forward to Akon, but I'll die of death if Lady Sovereign is at the Toronto show- which she unfortunately is. Stankin' little nasty. For her last tour, weren't Ciara and MIA her openers? I'd much rather have them back.

The wig is delicious by the way, I used to hate it but it really grew on me.

moombasista 5th February 2007 01:08 AM

The wig really grew on you? LMAO :laugh LuvU4Ever!

I don't like Lady STFU either. ew. Oh well maybe you can go to another show... or just not pay attention when she comes on.

4. The Sweet Escape (Video)

A live version of Hollaback Girl? LMAO.

Norrel 5th February 2007 01:29 AM

That tracklist seems sort of... stupid.

moombasista 5th February 2007 05:23 AM

Well it's a single Norrel. What do you want? New tracks LOL

I think its OK. I want to hear the Wind It Up (Robots to Mars remix)

The only stupid thing was including a live version of Hollaback Girl. Like WTF?

Norrel 5th February 2007 07:54 AM

Correction, a US Single =P

I wasn't expecting new tracks.. I geuss the live version of Hollaback Girl just gave me the wrong impression.. and whats up with Track 4? Is it going to CD/DVD? o.o

Mad_Cactuar 5th February 2007 02:02 PM

For an American, you seem to be pretty ignorant of singles, Norrel. :laugh The video will be an enhanced feature. Have you ever bought a single before? When you pop it into a computer, it looks super cool. The whole screen changes and stuff and it usually looks amazing.

I doubt it's a US single, it's probably an European/Australian single, since the US did away with physical singles since they got downloads. Lame.

*self-professed singles obsessor*
I collect them by the way, since they aren't common in parts of the world. :D

I can't wait to get this single. I'm sure the flash menu stuff is going to be fricking amazing.

Unless it's like the 'orange county girl' live portion of 'The Sweet Escape.' There were no extra's and the video was really naff quality.

LOL she's really getting her moneys worth for the Harajuku Lovers tour if that's what the live 'Hollaback Girl's' from. The album came with an audio and video, her website offers the 'What You Waiting For' video and now, possibly, Hollaback Girl audio :grumpy

Norrel 5th February 2007 11:41 PM

I am D:

Maybe it's because none of my CD stores sell singles, the only places you can get them where I live that I know of is FYE and this store called SPECs, and most of the time it's just choice singles. I geuss they aren't very popular at these stores ;\

JesA 6th February 2007 05:50 AM

Sex songs on L.A.M.B.?! O.o; Where?

JesA 6th February 2007 10:02 PM

^ O_O dont yu even pay attention to the lyrics? there's Crash and Bubble Pop Electric...those are the obvious ones...there are others with a line or two that has a sex-related meaning.

bondingo 7th February 2007 12:14 AM

I can't blame Norrel for being "ignorant" about singles. They've certainly lost their popularity in the US. Most people just buy or download the entire album now. US singles are almost pointless considering the fact that they usually just have like, two album tracks, a remix or live, and a possible video. It's kind of not worth it if you already own the album. I only buy singles that have a lot of B-sides or remixes, such as Christina's new Hurt Remixes singles, or Beyonce's Ring the Alarm single with like 6 remixes.

LMAO. You think those are sex songs? WOW o.o!

Yes, I do pay attention to lyrics and yes they do have a few lines in there but I don't consider them as "sex songs".

They just seem like regular songs to me :shrug

True, plus people would rather download nowadays in the US. Digital sales are crazy compared to physical sales.

moombasista 7th February 2007 10:28 PM

LOL, you guys need to hear some real sex songs.

Mad_Cactuar 8th February 2007 01:22 AM

There's "SexyBack" although not really a sex song, its sexier than 90% of the sex songs out there..

Care to post lyrics to a sex song? :laugh

moombasista 8th February 2007 01:29 AM

She was on Ellen today and she performed The Sweet Escape and Wind It Up. I was very impressed that she sang both songs and I'm SO buying tickets for the tour tomorrow when they go on sale.

Yeah I know it's crappy quality :dead2

drewbilation 19th February 2007 06:16 PM

Bought the album this past weekend, and I like what I've heard so far, but I haven't really given it a good listen. It's mainly just been used as background noise while I'm doing things.

The title track is very good, though.

Norrel 19th February 2007 08:30 PM

Thanks for the link moomba! I wanted to hear that song live :3

moombasista 24th February 2007 01:44 AM

Rumor:

Gwen Stefani has confirmed she will reunite with her No Doubt bandmates next year to record a new album - and she can think of nothing else. The Don't Speak chart-toppers have been on an extended hiatus since frontwoman Stefani successfully reinvented herself as a solo pop star. But the singer is desperate to return to her musical roots and has already planned their comeback hits. She tells radio station Galaxy, "I got an idea in my head about what we could do and now that's all I can think about - doing a No Doubt record." Earlier this month bandmate Tom Dumont revealed he's been working on new material too, alongside guitarist Tony Kanal and drummer Adrian Young.

YAY! :bshake

Celaphorce 24th February 2007 04:05 PM

Has anyone else heard that 4 In The Morning is to be her next single???
