I was actually REALLY impressed by this. His voice is great and "Depend on Me" is a worthy English rendition. I didn't think his Japanese was that bad, either. You could still understand him, and in the end that's all I really care about.

You know, ayu's lyrics for Depend on you aren't really brilliant either. They're just 'ok'.

There's no point in doing a remix or a cover that sounds exactly the same as the original, though. Then you're just setting yourself up for failure and harsher criticism for lack of originality and inability to accurately recreate a classic.

I actually hate the groove of the original and 10th Anniversary versions of Depend on you. It's overly simple and flat and hardly syncopated at all. To me, that's just kind of jarring for a contemporary pop song. Bentley Jones' groove and arrangement are fantastic!

After listening to it more often, I think he did a pretty good job though,

but I still think it's still missing something, musically I think it's still euro poppy sounding..
I still find it a lil too simple, lacking depth... not saying it's bad, although it sounds like I am lol
I think he should have taken it further as a rmx, I think it's still quite close to the original, it wouldn't hurt if he did ..again imho

Basically (I think) what I'm saying is: make a good cover or rmx the hell out of it,

It's greaaaat, I really love his voice, the arrangement.. he really did a great job, truly professional. This is some serious pop! Bentley, if your read this.. CONGRATULATIONS on making such an awesome song. I can't have enough of it.. even after hearing it like 50 times I still think it's fun (which is rare for me).

Don't hate me guys but I like it even more than the original (or at least I listen to it more).

I think that lots of you who say "I can't stand his voice" would have to listen to it more to get used to it. When I first heard him I though his voice was a bit soft and sweet for a guy, but actually, that's the great thing about him! He has a truly beautiful, angelic voice. Yay for Bentley!
