the "Issues" video is out.

the girls also had their first appearance on Hollyoaks Later tonight.

stickyrice 28th November 2008 07:04 AM

The umbrellas were so cute <3 I want a green one!

bernardation 28th November 2008 05:04 PM

they all looked beautiful!
it reminded me of the 'whole lotta history' video by girls aloud

Kaiouforever 29th November 2008 03:05 AM

I love the Issues video! (As well as the song)

And their cameo on Hollyoaks was brilliant, I liked it, very cute.

aqua_crystal 29th November 2008 06:32 PM

Love the new video. They're being very creative. As usual :D

drewbilation 4th December 2008 01:20 AM

"Issues" is currently no. 69 on the UK iTunes chart, based almost solely on video airplay, so it's looking likely they'll have another hit single with this.

Re:★ 4th December 2008 09:12 PM

The fact that EVERY SINGLE GIRL in school is singing this too, is a good sign aswell.

I adore the song now! :heart

The Saturdays

With their fresh and distinctive sound, brightly-coloured outfits and infectious personalities, The Saturdays have worked solidly this year to become the nation's favourite new girl group. Fresh from freezing their socks off shooting the video to new single 'Issues', we hooked up with the girls - now safely in the warm - to find out what's in store for The Saturdays in 2009.

Your new single, 'Issues', is out in January. Are you excited?
Mollie: "Yes! It's our first ballad which makes performing it a totally different experience. Instead of dancing around we get to stand there and sing which is a nice change for us."

You all look a little bit chilly in the video. How did the filming go?
All: "It was freezing!"
Una: "It was filmed in Whitstable in Kent and my hands got so cold that they lost all feeling. I literally couldn't move them."
Rochelle: "We had to wear long johns and thermal underwear underneath our clothes to keep us warm."
Vanessa: "Literally if you saw underneath our clothes it wasn't a good sight! Primark's very best!"

What sort of chart position are you hoping for with this single?
Frankie: "Well, we always want to better ourselves from the previous single. As long as we go top ten we don't mind, but it would be great to go top five just because 'Up' managed that."
Rochelle: "It's just a tough time because the Christmas singles and X Factor song will still be selling so much. We'll just have to see, but we feel pretty confident."

There are rumours that you're planning to re-release your album. Is that true?
Mollie: "No, not at all. We've got the single out in January and fingers crossed it will help the album climb back up the charts."
Una: "'Issues' is doing really well as an album download, so when people see that it's on Chasing Lights they might go, 'OK, I'll get the album'. It's gone gold already, so we're pretty happy."

Are you planning to release a fourth single from the album?
All: "Yes!"
Rochelle: "All we can say is that if you're a fan of 'Work' or 'Lies' you won't be disappointed! But we're not going to give away too much right now!"

You still get the odd comparison to Girls Aloud - does that annoy you?
Rochelle: "It's a big compliment to be compared to them and we were on tour with the girls which was really good fun and inspiring. They told us that we can go to them for advice whenever we want."
Una: "They were just really nice and normal. They didn't give us too much advice because they didn't want to seem patronising."

So you're not in competition with anyone then?
Una: "Well, Louis Walsh has a new girl-band featuring Jodi Albert who goes out with Kian Egan. When he sees us, all he says is, 'I've got a new girl-band'. We're not threatened. When people compare us to Girls Aloud that's rubbish because they've been around for ages, but now there's a new girl-band on the scene, that will be competition!"
Rochelle: "We've not seen them yet so maybe we should be worried."
Una: "No, I don't think we should. There's five of us and we can stand our ground."

Did you get a chance to watch the X Factor final?
All: "Oh my God, it was amazing!"
Frankie: "I don't normally watch that much, but I watched the final and was so into it! Beyoncé was just amazing singing with Alexandra."
Vanessa: "When she came on stage I was literally blown away. I was shouting at everyone to be quiet because it was just so incredible."
Rochelle: "I know this is a bit cruel to say, but the other two had Westlife and Boyzone, so who got the better deal? She definitely did deserve to win though. She was my favourite from day one."

Do you think it's an advantage that you don't come from a reality TV background?
Frankie: "I think it's a lot more rewarding for us knowing that we've started right from the bottom and had to work our way up."
Rochelle: "I think if you come from The X Factor you have a lot more pressure to get to number one. The press have given Leon Jackson a lot of stick for example, but he's still doing really well. He had a top three hit which is still really good."
Mollie: "I just think it's really sad. He's so sweet."

Where would you like to be a year from now?
Rochelle: "We'd like to have double the success of where we are now!"
Una: "We need to keep up the momentum! I would have hated to shoot straight to the top and then start to fall. We want to keep on climbing."
Vanessa: "Doing a tour next year would be really good – that's something we've always wanted to do."
Mollie: "Getting a second album out would be really good too. We've already started to write. We're going to stick with the same sound because it's really distinctive and that is The Saturdays!"

The Saturdays release 'Issues' on January 5. Their album, Chasing Lights, is available now.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/a1...saturdays.html
so, the album isn't being re-released now. and "Work" or "Lies" (or both? double a-side!) for fourth single. yay!

Kingdom 16th December 2008 07:20 PM

they look gorgeous in the issues video!

ia i want one of those umbrellas. the purple one is cute. :P

bernardation 17th December 2008 02:53 AM

nice interview! thanks a lot

LEOyumi 17th December 2008 04:07 AM

Wow, what a great interview!
And I'm happy they're gonna release a new single, that's gonna be great ^^
And I hope the album goes back to chart, it's so great *_*~

Kaiouforever 18th December 2008 08:18 AM

I would love a double A-side of Work and Lies! Those are great songs. Although I would prefer "Keep Her" on there too xD

drewbilation 22nd December 2008 09:01 PM

The Satz performed "Issues" on GMTV this morning.

ONE 'CHELLE OF A PROJECT

CHRIS Brown could be about to make The Saturdays the happiest girl group in the world.

The perky pop quintet's Rochelle Wiseman, 19, has admitted in the past she would "drop everything" to work with the prince of R&B – even her boyfriend!

And The Saturdays, whose new single Issues is out now, told me they had a "big surprise" in store this year.

Chris, who wowed London's O2 arena at the weekend, added fuel to the speculation when his people said he was writing tunes for some "gorgeous UK girls, five of them..."

Hint

Keeping his cards close to his chest, Chris hinted: "I've been writing songs for several new girl groups."

Chris, 19, has also been penning songs for the likes of Backstreet Boys, Jonas Brothers and Pussycat Dolls – not to mention his own lady Rihanna, 20.

He said: "I'm writing for Rihanna's new album now. I actually have a couple of songs written already that would be dope collaborations between me and her."

Saturdays: 'We want to crack America'

The Saturdays have vowed to follow in the footsteps of the Spice Girls by cracking America.

Frankie Sandford told the Daily Star Sunday that Stateside success will be the group's ultimate aim as they make plans for the future.

"No British girl group has made it in America since the Spice Girls but we are hoping to," she explained. "We worked with Rihanna's producers to give us more of an American sound."

Meanwhile, Mollie King claimed that Girls Aloud should reconsider their decision to reject offers from US labels.

"I think it's a bit weird that Nadine [Coyle] said they don't want to try and conquer America," she admitted. "I guess I can understand them not wanting to start at the bottom again but maybe we should all do it together."

The girlband's new single 'Issues' will be released tomorrow.

omg.

♥ you! 6th January 2009 03:55 AM

:eek

wow, i wonder if they will have the same fate as McFly

Re:★ 6th January 2009 09:53 AM

TA with Mollie. Girls Aloud could have had America in the palm of their hands by now. :(

Rihanna's producers eh? Maybe we'll get a Disturbia Pt.2, I love that song. :D

drewbilation 6th January 2009 08:02 PM

"Issues" is no. 11 in the midweeks, but only around 400 copies behind the no. 9 position. also, it has since risen to no. 7 on iTunes (and is still rising!), so it's sure to rise in the charts tomorrow, too.

Kaiouforever 7th January 2009 03:20 AM

Yay! Looks like they are doing pretty well for themselves. And I am STILL not bored with their album, it's so good.

Re:★ 7th January 2009 07:45 PM

Number seven in the mids now. :D They're kicking GA and SB's asses. :D

drewbilation 7th January 2009 08:07 PM

yay! if they can hold that position for the rest of the week, it'll be one position better than ITIL's peak.

also, the album is no. 43 in the mids now, too. I think that's the highest it's been in a while.

drewbilation 12th January 2009 01:10 AM

"Issues" is no. 6 for the week and "Chasing Lights" is no. 36.

also, someone on their official forum that works at the label said work on their second album began back in November, and will be finished once "Work" is released in April. he also said its first single will probably be released around August.

Kaiouforever 12th January 2009 01:18 AM

Wow! Sounds like they are keeping busy; great!

aqua_crystal 12th January 2009 08:53 PM

Woah, great positions!! They're realy getting popular, aren't they? :D

DOUBLE WOO! New album 2k9!!! :D

drewbilation 13th January 2009 07:49 PM

"Issues" has risen to no. 4 in this week's mids. I hope they can stay there, or at least remain higher than GA's new single. "Chasing Lights" has risen to no. 24 in the mids, too.

I do think TLK is a better song, and tbh GA is my fave group, but if The Satz can beat them, I'm sure they'd got a lot of attention in the press for it lol.

JaysenRyan 13th January 2009 08:53 PM

The Saturdays are my fav girl band since Spice, I mean I love Sugababes and GA, but none of them have had as solid an album as this (imo). I love every single track on their album cept "Vulnerable" which I dont hate but it's not my fav.

CRACK THE US ALREADY! ILL BUY YOUR ALBUM 500 times if I gotta!

drewbilation 14th January 2009 04:46 PM

"Issues" is still no. 4, but "Up" has risen to no. 33 and "Chasing Lights" is now top 20.

also, today is Frankie's 20th birthday!

Re:★ 15th January 2009 12:28 AM

Wut? She's only 20?! She looks sooo much older!! Wow. Young, succesful AND talented. Wow. O_o

drewbilation 25th January 2009 09:53 PM

The Satz finally have their top ten album; "Chasing Lights" has risen to no. 9 this week.

Bashumaru 25th January 2009 10:06 PM

Wow, they're so popular now :P. They're my 2nd favorite after GA

Kaiouforever 27th January 2009 08:28 AM

Wow, they certainly are taking the bull by the horn ~

The Saturdays sing for Comic Relief

We can now exclusively announce that Rochelle, Frankie, Una, Vanessa and Mollie have been asked to record this year's Comic Relief single.

The girls have only been together a year and already they are set to follow in the high-heeled shoes of other girlband royalty, such as Girls Aloud, Sugababes and The Spice Girls. They have recorded the main single for 2009's campaign and have chose a massive track to cover – Depeche Mode's electro-pop classic 'Just Can't Get Enough'.

'I am so so excited that we have been asked to do the Comic Relief song,' says Mollie. 'It's such a big compliment and it's so nice to be helping such a good cause. I've always dreamt of doing something like this from being a little girl! I remember watching the Spice Girls' song 'Who Do You Think You Are' and now it's us! I cannot wait!'

Comic Relief's Red Nose Day is on Friday 13th March and the theme this year is 'Do Something Funny for Money'. By raising money for Red Nose Day, people can help to change lives forever. That's because Comic Relief spends all the money raised to give extremely vulnerable, poor and disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa a helping hand to turn their lives around.

The single will be released 2nd March with Comic Relief itself taking place on 13th March.

For more info see www.comicrelief.com or stay tuned to www.thesaturdays.co.uk.

i didnt know Not Good Enough had leaked some time ago and i am now listening to and am in love with it. Only Ego and Here Standing are gonna top this!!!

JaysenRyan 8th October 2009 02:19 PM

Am I crazy or does Not Good Enough sound almost identical to Take A Bow by Leona Lewis. Its very very similar.

drewbilation 9th October 2009 05:14 AM

the album has leaked.

JaysenRyan 9th October 2009 02:27 PM

This album has surpassed my expectations. I am in love with most songs. The only one im not crazy about is Deeper and Denial. ADORE the rest.

drewbilation 12th October 2009 03:50 AM

it's a very good album - and a grower, too! I wasn't too impressed with a couple of tracks on first listen, but I love pretty much everything now. the live bonus tracks are quite nice, too.

my copy of the CD should arrive by Wednesday or Thursday, hopefully.

DA1SUK1DAY01691 12th October 2009 09:55 AM

I really like Here Standing and Ego for now. I need to let the others sink in, but for now those are standouts to me off the first listen.

Like I said in the first download thread, Here Standing could be TOTALLY epic in a concert.

drewbilation 13th October 2009 06:44 AM

"Ego" has been confirmed as the next single.

DA1SUK1DAY01691 13th October 2009 08:14 AM

drewbilation 15th July 2010 12:18 AM

their new single, "Missing You," will be released on August 9th:
http://i46.tinypic.com/14lioms.jpg

01. Missing You
02. Ready To Rise

followed be a mini-album, "Headlines," a week later:

01. Missing You [ watch ]
02. Ego
03. Higher [ live version ]
04. Forever Is Over
05. Died In Your Eyes
06. Karma
07. Puppet
08. One Shot (Starsmith Mix)

JaysenRyan 20th July 2010 02:38 AM

love Missing you, dont understand why a mini album though. They could take the Bside from the single and add it to the album, and put a few more songs. But new music in small form is better than none i guess.

drewbilation 24th July 2010 01:16 AM

^ the mini is just to hold fans over until their proper third album is finished. they've been in the studio with Taio Cruz, Alphabeat, James Fauntleroy and Guy Chambers working on the third album, so it should be good!

anyway, the girls had their first proper TV performance of "Missing You" today:

also, previews of the new tracks from the mini have been released:

JaysenRyan 24th July 2010 05:51 PM

OK Maybe a mini album was a great idea, all the previews sound amazing even the slightly revamped One Shot. SUPER EXCITED!!!

drewbilation 3rd August 2010 02:09 PM

the girls performed the Cahill mix of "Missing You" on Alan Carr's show Sunday:

JaysenRyan 4th August 2010 02:45 PM

Dont care for that version, but love them live. When will the min leak? It's driving me nuts.

drewbilation 5th August 2010 10:49 PM

^ "Wordshaker" didn't leak until it was officially release, so I think "Headlines!" will follow a similar pattern. it's released in Ireland a week from tomorrow, so expect it to leak then.

anyway, the girls performed the proper single version on GMTV yesterday morning:

and were interviewed by Emma Bunton:

also, Rochelle has confirmed their next single will be "Higher." the video is being shot in just a few weeks.

JaysenRyan 6th August 2010 03:02 PM

nice. i can't wait for this mini. I have high hopes. I actually like the idea of mini albums now. Usually the songs have much higher quality instead of just 2-3 good ones and 10 fillers.

Maybe artists should start releasing every year, going full album every other year, and a mini on the off years.

drewbilation 8th August 2010 12:21 AM

the "Missing You" b-side has leaked:

edit: and a new performance of "Missing You" from earlier today:

drewbilation 8th August 2010 04:27 AM

the album, minus the "One Shot" remix, has leaked!

JaysenRyan 9th August 2010 11:47 AM

post it? lol. its non US, should be postable! I CANT FIND IT!!!!

EDIT: I found it.

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=3sx340y4oem2t

drewbilation 9th August 2010 11:22 PM

^ the remix of "One Shot" included in that link is the 7th Heaven mix, not the Starsmith mix. and it's fanmade, too, 'cause the version that leaked was only 2 minutes long. I'll just wait for my CD to arrive before I put it in my iTunes.

anyway, the album ad has been released:

love it!

JaysenRyan 9th August 2010 11:30 PM

oh cause the one i found was 3:07. well either way im glad to have the new tracks. I love them all so much

ESPECIALLY PUPPET!!!

Keiichi_JPU 7th October 2010 08:39 AM

The Saturdays are amazing!!

I had never heard of them, because they're not relevant in Holland, but I discovered them during my summer in London, and they're amazing! My favorite songs are Wordshaker, One Shot, Lose Control, Ego, Higher and Karma.

I can't stop listening, it's so catchy!

Welurru 7th October 2010 10:57 PM

One Shot should have been released first time around.
Higher should now chart amazingly securing them label support for a third album.
Maybe slightly premature as theres 2 and a half months to go but Higher = pop song of 2010.

Amazing.

New single is freaking terrible, Steve Mac is such a terrible producer.
They need more Xenomania.

"My Heart Takes Over" video:

also, they're letting fans unlock clips of the album on their official site. so far, all three singles and "The Way You Watch Me" have been unlocked. "Faster" is currently at 96%, so it should be unlocked pretty soon.

It's kinda odd that I have zero interest in The Saturdays as personalities or in their media/videos, yet when I look at that list I'm reminded that despite their public blandness (IMO) they've got so many good songs. That's the most important thing! They still don't have a #1 single, right? It would be nice if they did get it with this new song.
