It was awarded platnium (a million sales) by the RIAJ for the shipment of a million copies. That means, that a million copies have been sold by avex to record stores. That's how the gold/platnium awards work, they don't work through the amount of actual sales, which is what Oricon reports.

And even so, with overseas sales, it's sold way over a million copies.

Platinum standard is 250k in japan. Albums like Jewel and A Best 2 were awarded triple platinum for shipment of at least 750k copies. (M)u was awarded the million standard for a million copies shipped. Shipped as in number of j-press CDs being manufactured and distributed. RIAJ awards according to shipment figure, not the oricon figure.

Oricon reports based on retailers that suscribe to them. Since not all retailers subscribe, oricon is a deflated figure on how much the CD actually sells but it's the best indicator so far i guess. Anyhow, it's an ego boost for artistes that are consistently highly ranked. Or at least their record labels.

Personally, i feel oricon is more prestigious than RIAJ awards because at least you know the figure reported are solid sales and most people look at oricon to see how an artiste is faring comparitively. So A Complete is doing great! No.4 in it's 4th week... How about 5 for 5...

Well i was hoping for 1 million so lol... But objectively these are fantastic sales and i feel it shows that ayu still has a lot of presence in japan. I would prefer her live performances to be more varied but i don't even live there and i'm not influenced by that anyway. I just buy her stuff when it comes out so go ayu!

Thanks alot man. But i'm actually happy to do that :yes This is such a turnaround from tuesday and wednesday rankings. I'm also hoping for it to end up in 5th position although that seems quite unlikely.

It may be 249k to a million but not necessarily that figure for it to be certified a million seller. (M)u sold 900k on oricon but it was certified a million by RIAJ so hopefully that can happen for A Complete as well. To be honest, i was a little disappointed AB2 didn't get the million. Now that A Complete is well clear of AB2 white sales and still charting strong, things are looking good.

Oh I forgot they came out with a best album before this one ><;;;;

I hope she can beat them before the end of the year, glad to see her at #4 again. That seems to be her steady place.
