Ayu is doing better than almost all of the releases that were out the last week (besides arashi). I am really amazed with Rule/Sparkle's success :)

So is it the power of the tie-in or Ayu and the song?? lol..

I think the movie will help :) I had watched the movie.. apparently the instrumentals was in the movie itself and immediately after the show ended, Rule can be heard at the start of the Credits.

According to the wikipeia article concerning her discography, she passed that mark with the release of "Rule / Sparkle". :)

Im wondering how much she really sold, the 50 million are only in japan but she sold millions of albums in other asian countrys, too...and tons of bootlegs o.0

I just counted together the album and compilation albums sales outside of japan, its over 18 million!!! Im wondering how much her singles and dvds sold outside japan, I think its possible that she is near 100 million already

I didn't. :D Just kiddin, but I loved R/S and knew it would definitely not bomb like some peeps were saying here. Some people are always just so cynical. It's not like nobody cares about Ayu anymore. Sure, less than there was 5 years ago, but she is still one of the best selling female artists Japan's got.

Is it limited? When ayu had her limited re-cut singles (like Fly high and SURREAL) they sold all of the amount of copies so it's the same case as it seems (just that this single is not a re-cut) xD. People rush to buy it before it's over, it's also very relateble to the album lol.

+ Their albums sales are lower, it could simply be that people liked Survivor but don't really want to get the album.

Well Rule/Sparkle is a single which style isn't exactly "mainstream" to Japan (ballads are)... and it was also released a month before an album, so based on these factors, it has done well.

not too sure. but it's all depends on who are releasing at that week.

D/G has consistent sales if compared with R/S

D/G's first week sales were over 20k more too. But R/S did very well considering it's close release to Next Level.

Awww... it did well so far so I'm satisfied with the sales.

I didn't really expect this single to sell well at all. It did much better than expected..

Why not? It's tied in with a movie, and it led up to her new album.

Although, based on the cover, I wouldn't expect this single to sell well either. :rolleyes

I think what truehappiness meant was:

1) This single is in a genre in which her singles suck at sales (think talkin' 2 myself)
2) This single was released a month before the release of a new album (think Bold & Delicious)
3) This single was tied in with a horrible movie.

Okay I'm kidding about 3).

But, really, sales have been good for Rule/Sparkle.
