Ke$hA - My best friend became a major fan and she showed me her so I love her now.

and also Late Night Alumni.

Izzette 12th January 2010 05:49 AM

Lela Hadaka no tsuki.

Is my current craze.

I'm playing to constantly.

koumori 12th January 2010 05:44 PM

I'm trying out My Chemical Romance ~ Well, I used to be a huge fan of theirs .. but then when all my music got deleted in February last year (*sob*) I didn't bother redownloading them because I was more worried about getting all my other stuff back ~

Now I'm getting back into their music so I've got their 'latest' two albums. Apparently they're finally releasing new material later this year or next year, so looking forward to that ^o^

JackieRos 12th January 2010 10:55 PM

I think for people to try and love Ke$ha
you have to understand where she's coming from and
shes not all about the booze and whatnot
her lyrics get to me because I can relate to them

and yeah her lyrics are wicked crazy lol

She's awesome
My favorite songs are Paper Planes and Bucky Done Gone

Picaflor 7/4 13th January 2010 12:49 PM

SHINee. So far I've only heard ring ding dong and amigo, but their music isn't bad. kind of sounds like a typical korean boy band. My friend likes them and is trying to get me into them.

rookies 26th February 2010 09:23 PM

I am trying out:

- miwa: Her debut song, don't cry anymore, is so good. I wonder is she the next YUI?

- Kie Kitano: Another good debut song. Sakura saku is very catchy.

emi♡ 26th February 2010 10:42 PM

I was at jps and we were talking about spangle call lilli line, and they brought up the side band of the guitarists from scll, ten to sen.

If you like ambient, electro, piano...experimental lol works, you should check them out, their stuff is definitely interesting, and oddly beautiful.

Oh the whole album is :heart Just mellow gorgeousness.

untitledforayu 26th February 2010 11:59 PM

^ ^
Wow that's so hauntingly beautiful. I'm checking them out!

At the moment I'm addicted to Bat For Lashes. A bit electro and experimental, very beautiful, visual lyrics and just gorgeous, if you ask me.

I can't get enough of Sa Dingding's new album. It's completely revived my adoration of her music. She just blends traditional Chinese folk music so well with Western Electronic sounds.

Royksopp! Great norwegian electropop/trip-hop band. Their album Junior is just brilliant from start to finish! I'm loving this song at the moment:

Kazeyomi 27th February 2010 12:07 AM

Yumi Sugimoto

she's a idol and her debut single is 'Harukoi'

I keep listening to this song because of lovely arrangements by Depapepe and her voice isn't that bad :3
If you like lighthearted songs and strings I higly recommended this single and Depapepe's music.

here's my favourite song from them 'Summer Parade'

JackieRos 27th February 2010 12:14 AM

I have rediscovered Sade
I fell in love with their song Smooth Operator back in 1996.
I haven't heard any other songs from them until recently.
Their song Soldier of Love is amazing and the video is to die for.
Sade looks so beautiful!!!!
(the lead vocalist is Sade)

Paparazzi 27th February 2010 12:16 AM

Cheryl Cole

ooo I like that song by Bat for Lashes...she's new? Seriously, reminds me of feist meets the 80's or dark electro or something. It's interesting. :heart it.

I was waiting forever for the Sa Ding Ding album too, and I totally missed it lol

and I am loving the sound of that electro/trip hop band...totally going to get more of their stuff.

I think me and you like similar stuff :D

edit: snap! Röyksopp's discog in apple lossless up at demonoid :heart Gonna spread the love around~

gallowsCalibrator 28th February 2010 02:13 AM

I've heard a lot about alan, so I though I'd give her music a listen to, and I think she's really talented! I don't know that much about her, though, lol

I think so! :yes
ten to sen's EP is rather fantastic. The only 2 tracks I don't love are yume (I know it's meant to provide a contrastinf mood, but I just don't like it!) and kami (I fing the bubbles more distracting than anything else). The rest is beautiful, especially the final track, yoru, which, at least for me, is so vividly visual and quietly stunning! The train sound is just :luv2

Please do Spread the Röyksopp! :love Glad you like them :D

In other news, I'm also getting into Florence + the Machine (forgot about them before! :headache). They're an indie pop band. The lead singer's voice is great and their debut album 'Lungs' is filler-less!

noidea 28th February 2010 11:21 AM

Nightwish, Tarja Turunen, Utada, Dragonforce, Blind Guardian

TITANIC 1st March 2010 12:33 PM

Leighton Meester - your love's a drug. Ilove it just after first listen

mischief9 1st March 2010 02:53 PM

I just got a bunch of new stuff, well its new to me

Kid Sister - female rapper thats blends some trance and pop. Love her songs Right Hand Hi, Daydreaming and Big n Bad.

Tinchy Stryder - British rapper, play his song Number 1 constantly.

Little Boots - pop singer, love the songs Remedy and Stuck on Repeat.

Florence + the Machine - great band, check out Drumming which I think was already posted and Rabbit (Raise it up)

Ladytron - Destroy Everything you touch is an awesome song from their album Witching Hour

Backstreet Boys, their new cd is actually pretty good

Also check out Santigold(Say Aha, Creator) Timbalands Shock Value I and II, 3Oh3, Tegan + Sara (walking with the ghost is a great song), Matt Pokora, french R&b/pop (not a huge fan but love the song No Me without U),

omg her voice is CLASSIC. It's awesome. Gonna check them out more~

R_Hikki 2nd March 2010 09:03 AM

Thanks for posting Bat For Lashes untitledforayu, I've been meaning to listen to this for a while now and quite like it.

Here's a couple things that I listen to to chill out or just dance.

Electropop song,
Nikki Awesome & The Royal Society - "All The Little Things"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAEvnEN2cIk

Dance R&B song,
Danny Fernandes - "Addicted"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9Heywo6GiI

I'm not really a fan of Danny but this song is addictive (no pun intended).

pommy48 6th September 2010 09:40 AM

Bumping just because I found a new artist :laugh

I love Lia's voice so much ♥

She sounds amazing live too! *o*

emi♡ 6th September 2010 10:48 AM

omg I've totally been neglecting this thread lol

@pomegranate: Her voice is so pretty! I must have that first song~ Totally gonna get her stuff.

Let's see...I've discovered mini, Akira Kosemura, Laura Shigihara, and Oumou Sangare :heart

I love them all.

I think most people know mini lol Was waiting for her debut forever.

Akira Kosemura is a minimalist, ambient, showgaze artist who has some fantastic work. I love the vocalist he used for the album "grasslands"...I wrote a very long review of the album on my lastfm lol

Laura Shigihara is a soundtrack composer...most people know her as doing the music for Plants vs. Zombies. I have to say, I've never seen someone with so much musical promise. This girl understands how to compose, to say the least. She's done music for like 15 games, and I think she's only 25. In any case, I am ADDICTED to this little song she wrote for her RPG game called "Melolune".

I can only imagine if someone like Ayu released this song in full. Can you see? It would be EPIC as a jpop song.

Oumou Sangare is an African artist and I learned about her from the movie Kingdom of Heaven. They used one of her songs, and I loved it, and took me forever to find it because it wasnt on the soundtrack...but now I have it! And I love her.

I've always loved nearly all african music I've heard...but I still haven't looked into more artists besides her and femi kuti. There was an african artist at the FIFA concert I really liked too...Oumou will be my starting point!

pommy48 6th September 2010 11:23 AM

@emi: yeah! her voice is so soothing~and you can find most of her stuff at japanesemusicdream

and melolune sounds awesome!

ah and one more artist...I've only heard one song from her and that's all I need lol

Cecile Corbel - Arrietty Song
I love this so song so much! I listened to it 300 times on repeat for 4 days! It's just so soothing and relaxing and just awesome! I even got tenshi no hane addicted to it lol

I think that this song is the theme song to the movie "The Borrower Arietty" produced by Studio Ghibli

MiiSan 7th November 2010 02:45 AM

Currently trying out TOWA TEI, I'm in the mood of listening to more Shibuya-Kei.
So far I listened to his best album... it was so relaxing <3 especially the last track~

Now I'm addicted to "GBI", it's in collaboration with Kylie Minogue <3

The 2 girls at the end kind of remind me of Peco & Princess lol

butterfly_ayu 7th November 2010 02:58 AM

i am trying Ken Hirai and AKB48. I never thought I'll like AKB48, but it's impossible to resist their new single. Beginner is such a catchy pop song!!! Ken Hirai has amazing ballads. I tried his best album a couple of days ago and I totally fell in love!!! i like every single song, especially 大きな古時計. i'll definitely try his new single when it comes out. I am also trying BREAKERZ and NEWS. I tried both bands before, but they didn't appeal to me much. This time, I listened to their new singles, and both turned out to be pretty good.
For western music, I am trying Within Temptation's latest album The Heart of Everything. The reason why I tried it was actually because of the album's cover art XD. i'm not sure if I like the band or their style yet..... but so far, my fav songs from them are Angels and All I Need <3

AyumiSEASONS 7th November 2010 04:08 AM

I'm trying out Perfume :yes I really like their new single, so might DL one of their albums tomorrow and see if I like that as much.

emi♡ 7th November 2010 11:04 AM

New artists for today! Mainly Korean dance/R&B girls~

Hyena ( 혜나 ) - Her songs were alright, but I wasnt impressed.

JJ ( 제이제이 ) - Really surprised by her, since I heard she was a flop with only this album...but I actually really enjoyed a few tracks, and the rest were tolerable.

I especially love the ballad "All for you".

I also checked out Mina and NARSHA like two weeks ago...I still need to get more stuff from them, so far, they have like one or two tracks from the albums I got, that I really like.

I was a little disappointed by them though...because everything looked so awesome, and I wanted it to be too...

Checking out SUPERCAR and Hwayobi right now~ I have really high hopes for both of them.

WoWee 7th November 2010 11:12 AM

I am waiting for the new album from Keri Hilson she has a few good songs, but I am curious to her new album if i like it better then her ''older'' album.

I am so enthusiastic about Cher Lloyd she is in the X-Factor UK atm where she is one of the big favorites, I really like the songs she sings on there and gives it her own twist, i am hoping she wins so she can release her own songs.
Her newest preformance:

koumori 7th November 2010 12:25 PM

^ NOOOO OMG NOT CHER LLOYD. NOT HER. PLEEEEEASE.

Sorry, over here she's kinda 50/50...either love or hate..I hate her :laugh I want someone who can sing to win X Factor..like Rebecca or Matt :heart

I tried out AKB48 because everyone seems to like them. But I think I don't like them... XD
Also I tried out JASMINE and Nishino Kana - I'm not sure about these two. I think I have to listen to some more of their stuff.

1LOVE-T 7th November 2010 04:29 PM

Recently I've been loving Lauren Pritchard's "When the Night Kills the Day,"
Her voice (and the piano!) are a breath of fresh air!
Also, Duffy
She's like the 60's soul queens reincarnated :D

emi♡ 7th November 2010 11:00 PM

emi♡ 17th April 2012 11:15 AM

have I really not posted in here in two years :tired

Anyways, today I'm trying out a bunch of asian indies...

Chima
Shiho Nanba
hiromi uehara
sotte bosse

I can see a lot of ayu fans liking chima and shiho. They're kinda like aiko meets dream pop.

Hiromi seems promising just started listening and loving her keys work. All key album though :/ damn.

Looks like sotte bosse will be my favorite out of these.

Adding to the list.

Choro Club
Glen Check

+1 for glen check. I like the sound.

George 21st April 2012 05:47 PM

I'm trying out Gotye but I find his songs painfully dull. I just don't understand his appeal.

emi♡ 22nd April 2012 01:06 PM

^After Someone that I Used to Know, I was soo hyped for the album...and well, the only other song I like was Smoke and Mirrors, and even that's a stretch :(

Anyways~~ New peoples :D I mentioned glen check up there...but oh well!

Glen Check forever :heart

and my new love Alex Clare, who has also been hyped up like crazy after the IE9 commercials...but his album actually paid off...sorry gotye. Anyways, I could die happy listening to only his voice.

I think his voice reminds me of Michael Bublé...but I'm not sure...whatever. My new favorite songs are Hummingbird, Tight rope, and Up All Night.

Also, I love his simple lyrics. It's been a long time since I really really loved an artist's songs so much. I'm so happy about it :D

George 23rd April 2012 01:53 PM

^ I guess it all boils down to one thing... I simply don't like Gotye's voice.

But on the other hand I could listen to that guy you posted all day long.

emi♡ 29th April 2012 11:44 AM

Jambinai proving once again that Korean indie is where it's at. Everyone is falling for this video and I'm the same. I love love the hard stuff.

The rest of the album is a lot more mellow...but so hauntingly gorgeous. Music to my damn life right now.

oh, a small descript~~ They mix together traditional korean instruments with hard rock elements. Interesting combination...vocals are very very sparse.

Jester 29th April 2012 08:01 PM

I just discover this man and totally love his song.
Genre: Hip Hop

Kana×Shin 29th April 2012 08:22 PM

Delicious n Bold 2nd May 2012 06:32 AM

I've been trying to get into 2ne1 and Namie Amuro.
2ne1 for the K-Pop fad that everyone follows. I haven't really gotten into them for more than their looks. Their music is bland save for that one hot single "I Am The Best".
I have borrowed a few of Namie's albums, but I don't really find them that good. I do think her new single "Go Round/YEAH-OH" is the stuff, though. It's pretty hot.
The only artists that I've tried and liked on first go are Ayu and Koda Kumi.

emi♡ 20th May 2012 02:23 AM

So....Last artists I tried out...

Mya, Ms. OOJA, Maki Nomiya, Mass of the Fermenting Dregs, lalasweet, and EA.

And EA is my love right now. First track on the album :heart

I guess this retro electronic style is just my thing idk. But I also LOVE love love her voice. :love
3 songs into their mini-album, and now I'm in love forever. Yey! :clapclap

And, PV full of greatness from Ogre You ***hole. Feel bad for not knowing about them sooner. Music isn't totally me...but it's a happy song lol :D Thumbs up to my new man friend for giving me this one.

CHE.R.RY 23rd May 2012 05:54 PM

Kimbra (so far I only like her song "Cameo Lover")
Gotye (Don't even know how to describe his music but it's so unique :yes)
mini (Japanese electropop artist)

YuriChan 24th May 2012 09:42 AM

mini (This song is a great song to start out with! :heart It's so addicting! XDD)

YU-A (She has this BENI style to her.. That's all I can say.)

Delicious n Bold 24th May 2012 06:02 PM

Tried out Ayaka via "The beginning" album. Needless to say, I love her long time now.

Kanzaki 24th May 2012 09:46 PM

Good idea for a thread! :yes

I've tried out Blonde Redhead and found out that I'm completely in love :D It's like Shoegaze/triphop-ish (not good at describing genres!)

I wanted to listen to some relaxing piano music one night and I let Spotify choose for me. I ended up discovering Ólafur Arnalds. Omg. Such amazing melodies. In Fyrsta for example, it's just this soothing, wonderful melody and you can hear the slight creacking of the wood of the piano as he plays. It creates the most wonderful atmosphere, it just can't be described.

isthisLOL? 1st June 2012 03:58 PM

I've started getting into Gossip lately. Some people may remember them from Heavy Cross, which was pretty big some time ago. Their new album A Joyful Noise is pretty decent, especially Perfect World and Move In The Right Direction(perfect single choices)

Delicious n Bold 1st June 2012 04:05 PM

Lately, I've been trying out Ai Otsuka. Needless to say? Her first album is not the way to get into her music.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 8th June 2012 03:41 AM

Hm...I wish I had someone to write about in this thread, haha

Delicious n Bold 8th June 2012 04:42 AM

I TRIED YUI...
Ugh...
Not my thing.
*goes back to ayaka*

emi♡ 8th June 2012 04:52 AM

^lol I had the same reaction a few years ago...

cause she was soo popular, I thought...maybe...but no.

Delicious n Bold 8th June 2012 05:00 AM

Is she still popular?
I borrowed her "HOLIDAYS IN THE SUN" album and it's alright. I have other albums, but they're sub-par imo. I don't understand the buzz. To be honest, she feels like a sub-par ayaka. ayaka has some songs where she just belts, and I love that.

koumori 8th June 2012 02:57 PM

^ I was really into YUI a few years back. I loved her albums From Me to You and I Loved Yesterday. There's a few songs I like in Can't Buy My Love too. :) But she starts to sound same-ish after a while, there's only a few songs I can enjoy listening to as a unique track. The rest just kind of fade into one long, guitar song for me. I didn't really listen to her last two albums much, nothing stuck with me.

CHE.R.RY 8th June 2012 06:30 PM

^ I agree 100%...I used to be a pretty big fan of her (just look at my username haha). But imo her music has just gotten monotonous & generic-sounding honestly. It's too bad, cuz I really liked her at one point.

Here lately I've been listening to an artist named Florrie. She's got some good jams :D.

PoetGirl 12th June 2012 01:17 AM

YUI is overrated as hell.

new artist Im trying out:

Michael E, flawless chill out music with inspiring messages

Delicious n Bold 12th June 2012 02:10 AM

LOL so much 'anti' YUI. She's cute, but I don't really like any of her songs.

I'm still trying out Ai Otsuka.. I do like a few of her ballads, and one REALLY NICE jazzy song on Love Letter.

Refix 21st June 2012 07:50 PM

Im kinda enjoy listening to Lana del Rey lately, idk something when she sings, her looks and her music is kinda... intriguing lol

Delicious n Bold 23rd June 2012 07:35 PM

Do As Infinity... again lol
They're not bad at all!

And Namie Amuro again. Her new album isn't half bad.

Refix 24th June 2012 07:27 PM

The Fray. I know its an old band but I guess nothing is late. At the moment I pretty enjoy their song, Syndicate. Gonna try to download their albums soon.

emi♡ 27th December 2012 06:16 AM

bump bump

okay...Long Post! New peoples since I last posted. And some other people should listen to.

Familjen...because :heart

Veronica Maggio, more pop chica from Sweden. I prefer her first album, but the second one has catchier songs.

I finally discovered The Knife lol

And from yesterday...

I think people here might like itsue. Their album was recommended on Jpopsuki, it's not bad at all. She's got a nice voice. Their music is rock oriented, and...a little depressing for me actually lol Might be just right up some people's alley.

SingerSen. I don't know if people have quite spammed the hell out of her everywhere yet, but it needs to happen, because holy***buckets she's awesome. Cables was my favorite song for a bit, but now it's Drunk.

omg she owns my life right now. She covered heartbeats by The Knife. Just found out...

Anyways...

Ceng Yan. She kinda reminds me of Sen + Faye Wong + Cocco. Probably because I have no other frame of reference. But. Her voice is pretty, and the music is gorgeous. She has some interesting, interesting blends of sounds. Haunting and beautiful.

Looks like I might have to upload her to youtube myself.

MIIII - some random pop/R&B Korean chica. She has A LOT of ballads on her one album. Her voice is nice. Honestly, I'm not huge on ballads. My favorite off the album is the one studio acoustic guitar live. It's also one of the upbeat songs.

elintseeker - If you like super ambient music. They have some interesting electronic blends and a very "still" sound. Some tracks have "vocals" and some don't. I really like it though. If you like ethereal ambient music, or experimental electronic stuff, check them out.

Apparently he's from Singapore. Interesting. Very artistic.

SleepStalker. I don't even know what to say lol

And...this isn't new. But my playlist keeps hitting it, and it puts me in one of the best moods. So I'm just gonna leave it here. By LAMA.

And And. I just stole this link from pommy~ I likes teh dark musik. Zhong Chi:

Let's see...also stole from pommy...the ACIDMAN :)

Thank you pomegranate :shughug

Petra Marklund is the vocalist of the Swedish "group" September, and I've never really been hugely into September's music. I'm kind of fond of her new solo album though. Lots of great songs on it, although I'd wished for more variety.

Loreen, the winner of 2012's Eurovision Song Contest has one or two songs I really liked, but I never listened to her music other than when it was on the radio. I'm giving her new album a go, and there are so really good tracks on it, although it has even less variety than I'd feared. This song is the opening track, and one of the best on her new album 'Heal' imo. The part at around 2:53 is just beautiful.

Moto boy. Can't believe I didn't discover this guy earlier. His music reminds me of a fusion of Coldplay and The Smiths. Beautiful, soothing. Gave him a try and I wasn't dissapointed. Goosebumps. You MUST listen to this, please.

I dont know if these guys are famous already, but I came over this song down here on YT and totally fell in love with the song. I've tried their lastest album, Exile, and truly found it amazing, I'll be checking more albums asap!

They're like a big mix of some of my favorite bands, like Muse and Coldplay with 30 Seconds To Mars as the cherry on the top of it

TeamAyu2004 24th May 2013 06:12 AM

Hated Demi's last album so I was effy about her new one Heartattack, but over all, I enjoy it.

Found a new artist while browsing on Amazon for new music! :D

And this song (I'm hooked! :heart)

Surreal17 23rd June 2013 04:09 PM

New artists this month: Jay Chou, Madonna & Taylor Swift.

Right now I'm listening to Madonna's Ray Of Light - can't believe how good this album is (somehow reminds me of Ayu's Rainbow and of some Bjork songs)!! I always tried to avoid her for some stupid reasons..

As for Jay Chou,he's a totally phenomen: he composes all his music, writes some of his lyrics, can play 15 instruments (according to wiki) and his music variates from rap, R'n'b, hip hop, rock, traditional chinese, pop, electronica, classical, country..etc He is very different from everything I've listened until now and he's the first that really "caught my attention" since I discovered Ayu - I can say he's the male version of Ayu regarding his versatility. Highly recommended!!

harufi 25th June 2013 08:55 PM

Just bought Diana Vicker's Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree album today so gonna listen to that tonight! :D I really liked her Once single so fingers crossed the rest of the album is just as cute~

Delicious n Bold 25th June 2013 09:00 PM

Kyary pamyu pamyu
However, it's not going too well.

Dream 25th June 2013 10:38 PM

I wish I could get past through Madonna's horrible personality to enjoy her old music (since her recent stuff is just pure trash)...
