I love it!

Thank you for sharing!

panda♥ 30th July 2009 08:05 PM

Both of these PVs may just make up for the horrible covers! :D

truehappiness 30th July 2009 08:07 PM

The covers aren't that bad.

The PVs are fantastic. If Kazuyoshi directed them, I'm gonna slap someone though because he actually did something right [!?]. Unlikely imo though.

Lanz16 30th July 2009 08:16 PM

Sunset was so amazing! :love
Im looking forward to the PVs, it seems so interesting!

Kazeyomi 30th July 2009 08:33 PM

:heart :heart :heart

Sunset sounds awesome, and the PV.. omg I love it.
Sunrise reminds me Hashire! Lol but Sunrise is better :yes

The fugly covers hides these goods PV T_T what a shame. <- omg drama llama

the PVs are very good from what I could see in the cm

can't wait to get my copy

I dunno, is the cover really that important? Haha. Usually they have a TV playing the PVs next to the singles, so.. it shouldn't be that much of an issue. I mean, would you buy a crappy song/PV if it had a gorgeous cover?

Package is important for selling. A product can be really good but if it's inside a dirty and smelly box no one buying it lol.

I hate drama around covers btw.
Covers are awesome for you? Ok personaly opinion but please stop complain about this.

NintendoHTF1242 30th July 2009 08:52 PM

The PV's weren't impressive. But at least the scenery is nice?

Sunrise is still a bit iffy, but Sunset didn't get any screen time. So I can't judge that song yet.

zellyx 30th July 2009 09:24 PM

Covers aren't awesome for me at all, but people think that people won't buy them just because they're not that good.. but that's ludicrous. People buy the single for the songs/PVs, haha.

Am I the only one who thinks that Sunset (the second one) sounds like a slower Sunrise? I'm unsure...

Don't compare Kuu and Ayu! xD
No, i'm jking... :)
Hashire has more rock.
Sunrise is more pop!

Ohhh... sorry. xD
I didn't realize that!
Thanks though. (:

Sunrise is bleh. But I have to admit, Sunset sounds amazing and Ayu looks awesome in it too!!

Possessionless 30th July 2009 10:11 PM

Sunset just sounds like Sunrise sang slower :S

truehappiness 30th July 2009 10:20 PM

Yeah, exactly.. haha.

There are different lyrics though. The choruses are probably the most alike one another though, wwwwww.

Packaging is still an important part of marketing the product... Not every Ayumi fan is a "die-hard" so things like the cover can make it or break it for them.

Especially since buying CDs and CD+DVDs is kind of becoming old, it would be even more important because the physical product is what the customer is realy investing in, which could be around 800 YEN.

I most highly doubt that they'll be or that they were filmed to be as mindblowing as the PVs for Part of Me, Real me, SURREAL...and all the other Ayu PVs that are memorable for their uniqueness. Sunrise/Sunset will fit along the lines of Humming 7/4...It's fun, but after this era you probably won't ever think of them again.

The preview of Sunset is a slower version of Sunrise, it sounds pretty but it felt like something was missing. But I think I'm just saying that because I'm disappointed in the fact that it's the slower version of a song I don't like. With that being said, I wish Ayu would make slower versions of songs that I do like such as evolution or even Sparkle. Oh well...who knows, maybe the different feel to the song will make it appeal to me more than the garbage that is Sunrise.

i agree :yes
Sunrise is awful (imo), so i'm glad that Sunset sounds alright so far.
and the PV's look better than all the horrible PV's on NEXT LEVEL :)

truehappiness 30th July 2009 11:12 PM

Sunrise is an incredible summer track imo. Anyone who isn't immediately uplifted by the melody/arrangement/vocals/whatever probably isn't in the summer mood or isn't feeling well, haha.

I'd have to say that I'll probably remember these PVs for a while.. hello, CD+DVD version.. prepare to be played a jillion times~

AyuTan 30th July 2009 11:57 PM

Sunrise cool as always....Can not WAIT for Sunset~~~~...It was so cool when I heard the same song, just different...xD

I totally agree with you LOL! However, let's leave other people's opinions alone shall we. =P

As for the PVs I'm stunned by her eyes in sunset. I can't wait to see it and I agree, I think these can be visually beautiful PVs. I also appreciate her dancer when they're actually dancing, because they do a great job and they're actually really good jazz dancers.

Calico 31st July 2009 12:10 AM

Ooh, nice. I wasn't sure how Sunset would play out as a slow song but it sounds really pretty so far. PVs kinda leave much to be desired but I'll take a final judgment of that once the full things are out.

Polyrhythm 31st July 2009 12:17 AM

The PV for both are so freakin amazing! I was completely floored (being that her recent PVs havent been all that spectacular). Although...I wish the covers were better still....

Embleu 31st July 2009 12:24 AM

Yet another dancing-in-a-tropical-location PV, but WHOA that is one awesome-looking structure.

DA1SUK1DAY01691 31st July 2009 12:54 AM

I like it. Much like Koda's "yume no uta/futari de...", but it's a lot more different. :)

majrakun 31st July 2009 01:00 AM

whoever did the camera works is really good! There weren't any in-your-face scenes, and the swirling around isn't as annoying as some of her TV lives 0__0 After the recent PVs, I'm just really glad we have simple and decent ones to watch.

elekons 31st July 2009 01:13 AM

sunset/sunrise i love two song

truehappiness 31st July 2009 01:19 AM

No, the lyrics are different. They're like different songs.. one's an answer to the other.

maze 31st July 2009 01:31 AM

i have to see the full PVs to judge. this single doesn't looks bad after all, i'm totally addicted to Sunrise and Sunset looks a beautiful ballad :heart

To quote Ayu from ViVi a few weeks[?] ago:
Quote:

On the 12th of August, the double A single [Sunrise ~LOVE is ALL~/Sunset ~LOVE is ALL~] will be released. It’s Ayu’s new experiment, consisting of one melody but two different lyrics and arrangements.

“Sunrise is a summery, happy pop-tune, but whilst writing the lyrics I thought, “it would be nice if I turned it into a ballad, right?”. In that way, the ballad Sunset, glowing with the melancholy of the end of summer, was born.”
“The subject of Sunrise is “you”, and that of Sunset is “me”. As for Sunset; I wondered if girls can sympathize with it more easily. But because I feel both songs have become each other’s ‘answer song’, I think people can sympathize with both songs.”

“Because I also wrote the songs with the theme ‘father & daughter love’ in mind, it’s not only about romantic love, but about family love and friendship as well. I wrote the songs to fit different kinds of love.
Though I didn’t create them this way from the start, I can’t imagine them as separate anymore; both songs respond to each other.”

Ayu said, “I want to take good care of my present self”. Music, fashion, love; everything concerning Ayu is the present.
Everything continues to move forward and continues to change ---.

waterballoon 31st July 2009 03:52 AM

I think we should all know that Sunrise & Sunset = same melody, different arrangements, different styles, different genres, different moods and slightly differently lyrics. :yes Don't be surprised anymore!

Anyway, the dancing in Sunset kinda reminds me of fairyland, with the sash or whatever on the dancers' hands... and I like how I only see Shu-ya, Subaru & ZIN on Sunrise on the same stage/platform with Ayu. :P

RikkuChii 31st July 2009 04:31 AM

Hmm...looks okk so far.

Sunset sounds very promising, however. I cant wait to hear it.

Thank u <3. I think it's so ridiculous that u can only like sth if it was done by someone u like.

So far people are liking the PV's, but if it is confirmed that Kazu was the one who directed them, i can see several people changing their minds about them.

Ridiculous.

Sunset is A W E S O M E. Ayu looks stunning and the song sounds beautiful. It's already safe to say that Sunset > Sunrise imo.

I don't really care about Sunrise PV cause i'm not liking her hair at all lol. Maybe it'll grow on me.

Thanks for posting, and thank u for the youtube links.

emi♡ 31st July 2009 05:07 AM

^I don't think people are like that at all :shrug

If something sucks and it was directed by someone they like, people'd probably call it a fluke.

For example, I love CMJK, but I hate his arrangements for NEXT LEVEL. Same thing with HAL and Sunset.

If Kazuyoshi does something good, I think we'll all say it's awesome. But that doesn't mean that there aren't going to be people scrutinizing every little thing with the video, negative or not, and it doesn't mean that they aren't going to blame him for them.

I doubt this video will be perfect or something...and, I'm pretty sure there's going to be a fair share of people who dislike it.

edit:Going back and seeing some of the things people have written though, about how Kazu just CANT have directed it...I definitely see why the talk about directors is annoying. Ruling out Kazu is ridiculous kind of ridiculous.

Doesn't mean the ballad has to be boring and uninspired. There are many types of ballads, and seeing as how she's experimented with a bunch of them...I guess I just expected something a little more impressive.

Especially since I wanted Sunset to be my redeeming factor for the single. But oh well, those are kinda just my hang ups. I'm glad people have mostly a positive opinion about it though, and that they generally seem to like it.

I think Sunset's arrangement is just perfect, cause it does sound like a ballad, but still sounds like Sunrise.

If the arrangement would've been more "unique", it probably wouldn't sound that similar to Sunrise, and the connection between them would've get a lil lost.

I also love how it does have a summer feeling to it imo.

emi♡ 31st July 2009 05:33 AM

Perhaps, but I still think that the arrangement makes it boring. I think there's plenty of connection seeing as how they have the same melody.

But it is a summer single, and Ayu has been liking her medium ballads, I suppose she just loves this song.

I personally, like I said, would have liked something more interesting.

And yeah...sometimes I can't believe people say the things they do. With no evidence or anything. Tis rude imo.

Well, the cinematography just makes too much sense for him to have done it, haha. Takahide is much better at it, hohoho~

Evolution7/4 31st July 2009 05:45 AM

^HAL hasn't been confirmed for Sunset (or have they??)
Oh and just to clarify one more time
THE DIRECTOR ISN'T THE SAME PERSON AS THE CINEMATOGRAPHER

thank you. :)

SunshineSlayer 31st July 2009 06:25 AM

^ But in order to be a good director, one has to have a good knowledge of cinematography. Its often the director and cinematographer together who decides the shots. (and sometimes they are the same person) None of Kazuyoshi's previous PVs really have much good in terms of cinematography.

Evolution7/4 31st July 2009 06:28 AM

^True but I'm just saying, can't blame it all on the man. And frankly Green's cinematography was fantastic. Very cinematic, it look like an actual film, rich and with depth, but I guess thats all up to ones own opinion/taste. I have a problem with the editing, like sparkle had good editing in some part but for the most part was stuck with boring shots when it should have used cuts and flashes. Now granted its the same situation, they aren't necessarily the same person but the director can decide and forsee.

Kanzaki 31st July 2009 06:38 AM

Just as I thought, Sunset turned out so nice when slow! ^^ I really want this single!

Generally, the person sitting right behind the camera is the director for music videos, right? Do they even have separate people as cinematographers for simple things like PVs?

Evolution7/4 31st July 2009 06:50 AM

^They may or may not. Bear in mind, Ayu's PVs aren't really the simpiliest or lowest budget ones out there. ;) And TBH while a director should have knowledge of cinematography, a director isn't always gonna know the deep down specifics, like the director may know what kind of look he wants but won't necissarily know how exactly to achieve it. The cinematographer knows what film stock, lights/gels/lens/filters/materials, etc. needed to achieve the specific look. Again, a director could know this but not always.
I think some people are confusing what a director and cinematographer is. Like they have two complete different jobs, whether they are the same person or not.
Although isn't Ayu ultimatetly the director of her Pvs? ;)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinematographer
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_director

emi♡ 31st July 2009 06:57 AM

It's actually interesting because, it's sort of improbable that after all these years of making PVs, Ayu would have no knowledge of directing, etc.

So it's interesting that her PVs are coming out these certain ways. I really wonder how much say she has.

Evolution7/4 31st July 2009 06:59 AM

^She has all the say imo this is the Ayumi Hamasaki we're talking about. I mean this is a woman who has a double to make sure eveything looks as it should. If anyone made decisions for her that she didn't want, she'd drop their ass faster than anything. Now, its not necissarily her fault that her pVs/covers aren't the best (I actually don't have a problem with her PVs and really her covers either, just didn't like Sunset) but still...
And she definitely has a part in directing her PVS. If you watch the making of Rule, you can see her instructing the actors being filmed when shes not on screen. And like I said, she has a double for everything.

Ahi_max91 31st July 2009 07:04 AM

Awessssssssssssssoome OMG!!!!!
sugooi neee...kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

truehappiness 31st July 2009 07:08 AM

Aww, Poroko needs a starring role in a PV one day, haha. [as a double, she should get some face time.. unless she doesn't want that..]

Quote:

Cinematography (from Greek: kinesis κινησις (movement) and grapho γραφω (to record)), is the making of lighting and camera choices when recording photographic images for the cinema.
I think that's what most of the directors do in her making-ofs, right?

Evolution7/4 31st July 2009 07:11 AM

^Not necissarily but maybe in PVs. I mean in film no, but PVs maybe. But Ayu usually has a big staff, which means she could have a seperate director and cinematographer. the director may know he wants a certain look, but the cinematagrapher actually knows which materials to pick to present to the director.

bluecyclone 31st July 2009 07:16 AM

yeah, I used to believe that too.

The double doesnt really prove anything.

And the thing is, is that there are things Ayu would trust to others, like directing. She can't do everything herself, and I'm fairly certain that she's not the one coming up with every idea in her PVs.

Of course she has final say, but, it really comes down to what she actually questions and what she doesnt, and what she actually decides, and what she just goes along with because she thinks it's good.

And...I don't really like Sunset that much. I shouldn't have expected any powerful or more creative ballad in the first place.

I think the PVs look really nice! I liked especially the preview of Sunrise's PV, she looks realy beautiful and happy there. I actually like her hair, it looks funny~ Sunset's PV looks so beautiful and so does the song. I like Sunrise more, though.

Hm, don't know if I like them.
Ayu looks good and it's a nice setting, but if that's all they're doing troughout the whole PVs... damn, that would be boring.
Sunrise doesn't sound that great to me. I'm already used to Sunrise, so Sunset sound really weird. o.O

I thought 'bout the same thing too... I've watched Humming 7/4 only a few times and that was enough for me.
However both looks very nice and idea itself is very interesting.

And Sunset sounds very lovely, I really like it. :love

I really love how SUNSET sounds.

if Wataru was the one that did HUMMING as well...then that probably explains hahaha...i do like how he captures the fun and liveliness in both songs...

Im sure people are so gonna crap out Sunset seeing how Sunrise is a singing PV...
i hope he brings out a twist...(but Wataru usually..doesnt lol)

What kind of twist would there be? Haha. Would Ayu transform into a tentacle monster and end the world as we know it? -loose reference-

I love the pv. But it's not very exciting.

Omg About Time Ayu. I didn't like Kuu's summer single that much but this definately tops it. :love

sunset is a LOT better than that cheap sunrise, even though it sounds like a slowed down version of sunrise.

i like it, a lot :heart though it looks like the pv is about as cheap and sucky as the sunrise one

I think that Sunset could've definitely been called Sunrise "Hal's Mix 2009" It sounds so much like his past remixes from the preview!

it sounds pretty! i really like it, the only redeeming quality from this single for me, sadly :( but at least i have something to look forward to
