hair can make you look a lot of things ... especially the shape of the cut, the colour, etc.

Her long blonde crimpy hair wasn't Americanized in my opinion. No American artists had their hair styled that way from what I saw. The crimps, curls, and straight strands all mixed together looks great on Ayumi ... makes her eyes look bigger and even more beautiful. To which makes her look younger and more innocent.

If she's going with the cut say that she had when she was in Dearest (in the pink outfit) it made her look older.

I don't think short hair makes her look old. I think it looks better with the shape of her face.

gohan .. you're showing a picture of a "bob" on the second short pictures ... that is one of the few hairstyles that can make someone look younger.

I don't know if I'm the only one who sees it ... but for some reason she looks younger with the long blonde hair. She looks more immature so to speak. To which the shorter hair adds a safistication that IS good, but sometimes you like it when people stay cute. Although that sounds immature and selfish to say, I perfer her to look cute and sweet but then to blow out a powerful voice. It makes people take a step back.

Personally I think she's a beautiful person .. I just perfer her with her crimped and curly hair... thanks gohan :)

A note about her hair~ I can't say for sure, but with her many many hair changes, I'm sure her natural hair is very short to allow for the many wigs she wears. It's not really easy to grow your hair long then cut it and long then cut it as often as she does, and it to dye it so often would probably damage it. I can't say for sure but I think it's likely.

from what I see she wears extensions. Which aren't that bad for the head from what I read. Britney, Christina, many many many other artists use these. I think Ayu's hair was a little over her shoulders ... I remember watching a video and I could see strands ending there (a lot of them) ... as for the color thing ... it can be damaging yea ... but with deep conditioners you'll be fine .. I went bleached, light brown to my normal brown in less than a week and my hair didn't get damaged with the help of deep conditioning ;)
