Game on.

Okay, so, scanning this puppy means I might as well retouch the scans and do my best to piece together the 2-page photo spreads. I'm no Photoshop wiz, but I think I can do a passable job. Here's a test piece...both pages were scanned, pieced together, and edited.

I'm thinking of buying a second copy of the book that I could rip apart so I could scan each page individually (I know a lot of the pictures have been scanned, but I haven't seen a single page of text in any of the galleries I've found) and then maybe the easiest way to do it would be to put together one big .pdf file. I don't know how else to manage a translation this large.

I shall mull it over!

omfg, i would love you. how much would a 2nd copy cost you?

EDIT: you already ripped it apart! wow, you have some dedication! the pic you posted above looks just fine! how large will each page actually be? if you made this into a PDF i would effing worship you!

Delirium-Zer0 25th January 2012 01:56 AM

If you can somehow make it into a PDF with OCR recognition I can probably help you with the translation, if there are any sections that give you a hard time... I can check it against my copy of the book to make sure the OCR is accurate.

Luckily the text is left-to-right in this book... most of the OCR programs I've found have only worked with left-to-right text, not with top-to-bottom.

They'll be...big. I wanted to throw that up on Tinypic really quick so I just resized it, but it was about 20% of the original size.

Yes,Please! I have the book in storage,I remember I ordered it off of yesjapan when it first came out. I believe it was 30 bucks total...Which is a great deal at that time!!!(???Or CDJapan.) and I've always been curious to know what was being said!
So yes please!!

Yumsushi 26th February 2012 01:44 PM

Yes please! And I can't believe you've seperated the pages. I honestly don't feel we deserve that kind of dedication lol

Haha, it was the only way to do the project any decency. :)

Scanning and editing double-paged photos is well underway...but I'm going on vacation for a month so I'll have to take a brief hiatus as I won't be able to take the work with me. Bear with me, everybody! It could take a while, lol.

Fixed! :yes

Delirium-Zer0 1st August 2012 05:52 PM

I was just wondering how this project was coming along :)

I found better OCR software O___O But scanning my book is too hard without tearing it apart like chocopockymaster did O___O and I'd rather not sacrifice another book, you know? BUT I may be able to scan some of the other books & unofficial biographies I have, since they're not worth as much and i'm not as worried about bending the spines. So we shall see :)
