I'm a nail tech and I use Gel Polish more than anything else. It's much easier because it goes under UV light, so there is no dry time. With regular nail polish, you have to wait for it to dry completely otherwise you risk messing up the design. With gel polish, put under the light, then keep adding onto it, since it's completely dry after just 1 or 2 minutes under UV.
But this is my technique only. I know many salons out here still use regular nail polish, but slowly I see more of them converning to UV gel polish because it lasts longer and it's easier to work with.
I wear my gel polish for 2 weeks, normal polish doesn't even last 3 days on my nails Lol.
I re-search some salons in Tokyo and there seems to be a lot of them doing gel nails as well, weither it's sculpted gel or gel polish. As well as acrylics too of course, those have always been popular, but it's harder on the nail beds.
There's still a lot more color variety and availability in nail polish though.
Airbrush tends to change color over natural nails so I would stay away from that a lot... Lol
