Man, why does Namie get higher numbers than Ayu despite her age...?

Because she doesn't humillate herself with dull scandals, Bold&Delicious and Timmy.

Don't forget that her last singel sold just 39k too

brener 11th July 2013 09:27 PM

im crossing fingers for 300k on the debut week *o*

Bold&Delicious lol ? and who sold 39 k ?

adantatu2 11th July 2013 11:45 PM

^ maybe, (s)he considers ayu's again mini-album as a single

Public opinion of namie = high
Public opinion of ayumi = low

It's as simple as that. Also, age does matter, at least in Japan. It's very rare for women to have big hits at the age of 35 and beyond.

Anyways woohoo for namie! These sales are awesome!

How is B&D affecting Ayu?

that. I always see people commenting on female artists age when it comes to japanese. It's rather odd if u'd ask me, but it's in the culture i guess.

khan5 12th July 2013 07:42 AM

did namie have a bad reputation among the japanese during the time of her divorce like ayumi?

brener 12th July 2013 11:33 AM

3rd Day
#1 27,443

------------------------

hmm, guess it wont be able to outsell Uncontrolled's debut week '-' only by a few copies...
so far we have 188,958 copies sold (while Uncontrolled had 194,621 on its third day)
let's hope for some increase by the weekend or some steadiness... =)

Benikari47 12th July 2013 11:52 AM

Sad that it probably won't surpass Uncontrolled's first week, that's what i expected at first, i just think the first day sales made me much more excited than i should have been lol.
Still amazing sales <3

inspire_rmx 12th July 2013 03:29 PM

still awesome sales even thou I have a feeling it won't cross uncontrolled sales. hopefully it will cross the 500,000 copies mark in the end. but Namie is still doing awesome ^^

She did, especially because she lost the custody of her son to her ex-husband (she gained it back in 2005). That time after her divorce until some time after she regained the custody of her son was when she had her lower sale numbers.

Looks like it won't do as well as uncontrolled. But that's to be expected when you're going up against a 'best of' album

emi♡ 12th July 2013 10:05 PM

I never really expect albums to do better than previous ones...but the drop between them is so small. That is fabulous.

toLOVE 12th July 2013 11:27 PM

OMG Namie!! You're he biggest flop ever, you're no longer the queen. Jk jk jk haha

There really isn't a big difference between Uncontrolled & FEEL 3rd day. I hope for the next 3 or 4 days her sells will be consistent, hope it'll sell 30k each day for the rest of the week.

yoshino 13th July 2013 11:48 AM

Yeah~!! She's gonna continue getting No.1 ~!! ^_^

R_Hikki 13th July 2013 07:22 PM

I'm really happy the album is selling so well because I honestly didn't expect it to.

I think OP was just taking a jab at the song itself, since well, its a pretty horrible song. m(u) would have been a perfect album without it.

She did have a slump at that time, yes. I can't say exactly though how bad her reputation actually got. She did however at that time work really realllly hard at creating an entirely new image/appealing to a new audience, non stop tv appearances etc. All things that Ayumi really isn't doing. Plus, all that happened when Namie was still pretty young - so she still had time to make a second comeback. As mentioned, Japan is pretty darn ageist when it comes to women, so a second comeback STARTING at the age of 34 is imo almost impossible unfortunately. Would love to see it happen for Ayu though.

darc_aqua 14th July 2013 06:52 PM

This album is gonna reach PLATINUM status by the end of the week!
