I did laugh a little, though, at how the description of Diane remarks on her "Okinawan beauty" twice. Her face is really long, and her eyes are...bulgy.

I agree lol and somehow I don't feel that the descriptions really helped the band members. Maybe something was lost in translation. However, if the music is good I may be able to overcome the ridiculous spelling of the name and the supposed Okinawan beauty. Maybe their repeatedly touted bilingualism will win me over? Move over Utada

Always reminds me of the sign, 'All employees must "wash hands"'

Gotta agree with this. It just looks awkward.

Watching and listening to the previews now... I might give them a chance.

PS: What the heck does Faky mean?

ExodusUK 27th July 2013 05:14 PM

Yeah they're 5, apologises!

Can a mod make this to the Artist & Bands forum? I guess this can be their first thread or whatever.

From their website:

The name FAKY (Fei: key) was derived from the original word 'FAKE' to challenge themselves to bring something NEW and real to the English music scene. FAKY consists of bilingual members as it looks to expand its reach outside of Japan as the next Generation Girls group from Tokyo. FAKY's message is for girls to "Do what They want, the way They want", as that is the FAKY's way of life .

kimmeh 27th July 2013 05:41 PM

^ "Do what They want, the way They want"?
More like "Do what Avex wants, the way Avex wants it" :laugh

Thanks. How did I miss that? :tipsy

They each have Twitter and Instagram accounts as each member is revealed. Anna tweeted that she was taken to Ayu's concert the other night. Also apparently she was in the movie Ninja Assassin.

I'm not into these types of girl groups but I like their image, as much as 2NE1 anyway.

Also their band name is the ultimate non sequitur. :|

mt thoughts are pretty much like this

Seems like their single comes out on the 29th. I think they will flop personally, none of them really have the sort of faces Japan likes.

I think the these initial promotional images of all the girls (except maybe Mikako, maybe) are extremely bad and it makes them look equally so.. [/judgy] Its hard to think they'll make it with those photos.. they probably deserve better, but it gains no real interest with me. The promo videos for each member are slightly better, I wish there was some vocal track accompanying itto get an idea of what they individually sound like. I was surprised how cute Lil' Fang was in her promo video, I think if anyone shines, I'd place my bets on her and Mikako. :)

Oh em gee, errybody. Clear your schedules. So you can see a flop in motion.

ExodusUK 29th July 2013 10:09 AM

what is this...

emi♡ 29th July 2013 11:03 AM

lol I think it was fun...I mean. They totally wasted that fun background with the crappy verse melody, but...okay.

The "white girl" and the leader girl kinda owned the video. Okay, Tina and Anna. I don't even know why that diana chick was there. Seems like it's her job to just pose at the camera. It's hilarious to just watch her the whole time. She looks so awkward lol

I don't even remember the Lil Fang person.

I actually really like the last half of the song.

I just don't understand how Avex always fails at the concept of being fabulous.

You know, the first video I saw for EXID, made absolutely no sense, but it didn't matter, because the song was good, and the girls were FABULOUS. They just exuded being awesome. They were a little unsure with the dancing, but ****, no one cared because everything else was on point.

It's like Namie's new album. No one gives a **** about the unoriginal music, because everything else is FABULOUS.

This is something that I think a lot of Jpop just fails at, and it's actually why so many of their artists suffer and will never make it outside of that awful niche market.

Even with their senior artists. It's like, they have it ALL. They look good, they have presence. Like wtf! Get your production quality together :/

sorry.../rant

George 29th July 2013 11:51 AM

^ And they're supposed to be one of the biggest record companies in Japan. It's not like they're struggling for money. A lot of artist would kill for Ayu's budget but they waste it on cheap ass production.

That's some Christina Aguilera grunt realness.
Enunciate, girls. It's really not that difficult.

koumori 29th July 2013 12:22 PM

Not as bad as I expected. Some of them in the video had a lot of charisma and potential. It seemed a little awkward, but it is their debut...a shame the video seemed a little cheap too...I didn't really get the subway scenes. The girls looked like they needed more room.

Song itself was boring, but it wasn't awful. :)

kimmeh 29th July 2013 12:30 PM

IMO this is a duo with Tina and Anna. The rest are background dancers. I'm surprised Anna is the leader, because Tina sings the most and has the most screen time.
And it reminds me nothing of K-pop or J-pop, more like good old radio-pop.

At least it seems like girls had a lot of fun making the video, and that matters a lot, flop or not.

Seems like their website is down. Is this when we joke about it flopping so hard that avex just shut down everything :laugh?

In all seriousness though, they have potential, but maybe not in japan. It's too far away from what the japanese people prefer. This is a very typical one hit wonder song, if you ask me.

AyuGAME 29th July 2013 12:50 PM

i kinda like it

their vocals is so strong...the dance move is cool...

i think they are cool and promising...

we will see...

BlackSilence 29th July 2013 01:12 PM

one good thing they have is VOCALS. Everything else is so mainstream that i can't even listen to the whole thing. Typical western crap. Good luck for them tho.

MeltingCORE 29th July 2013 03:26 PM

The song isn't very original, but I think it's cute and enjoyable.

happiholic★ 29th July 2013 06:24 PM

I really liked their vocals. Really good. But, omg, my eyes. They tried to stuff too much Western and K-Pop stuff into one music video. Song is already forgotten. I still don't think they are gonna do well, but hey. Maybe one day I will have to eat my words. Its not like I'm doing anything better with my life. I still will probably never be a fan, though.

I also find it ironic that they choose their group name to "challenge themselves to be new and different", but they are so mainstream it hurts.
