Sayonara finally reached 500k view, Looks like Sayonara and Summer diary will be another million youtube viewer video as well.

Dreams come true best album selling like a hot cake...It's already three weeks in a row that they got number one. I think this week they will get number one as well. Looks like DCT best album will be another tough competition for Ayu.

I went to look for the CM of five, which you can find here, and they say "new mini album"
I am perplexed.

Not only that but if you look at the stickers for LOVE and again, they say "NEW MINI ALBUM" (in English). FIVE's and Memorial Address' stickers both says "'mini album" in Japanese. If you look at the sticker for Sixxxxxx it just says "new album". On Avex's discography page they call it the second ALBUM released in 2015 (no mention of it being a mini). Ayu's official page calls it a new album. There's like no official mention of it being a mini at all anymore.

Curiouser and curiouser. The thread title should be changed to just "new album". All signs really point to it. To be fair ayu's website DID call it a mini album on July 1st but on July 9 they dropped the "mini" from the description and it hasn't been called a "mini" since.

I think it might reach 46k ~ 50k

Cdjapan shipped my copy today! Can't wait to receive it and finally listen to it. I really hope this mini album manage to sell well, it seems this release it is really on point and Ayu is working hard to show everyone the "real ayu" is back.
It is kind of weird they marketed this as an album, but it isn't that upsetting as the thing they did with the "minis" Love and again...

Then all evidence seems to point towards the "album" direction, and that would be the most obvious way to see it but there's a major turn-off: the title.
If it is a new album, why is it called six? the title made sense with it being her 6th mini album but this way?

My idea is that these songs are left-overs (although really good ones) from A ONE. This mini probably started off as a continuation of A ONE and then evolved its way into a "full" album. Or it's just that they are marketing it like that hoping to sell more, we all know avex's unfair moves when it comes to mini albums.

I don't think that Sayonara is a leftover but the rest probably are (since they probably recorded Sayonara just a little while before the PV and the PV was shot not long ago).

Btw if anything sixxxxxx is the 5th mini album, since for avex and ayu NOTHING FROM NOTHING is of no existence.
The six stands for 6 songs that start with an S and maybe other hidden stuff if at all.

Well, I hope it can sell 30,000-35,000. I hope it will reach even that.

Memorial address has a longer track list than sixxxxxx though. I think they're just saying "New album" because mini album is still technically an album, but shorter and it's not a really big deal.

Aderianu 3rd August 2015 09:51 PM

minis always chart on oricon with full albums. so who care?

rainbow_smile 3rd August 2015 10:07 PM

I think it would have been worth the fuss if it was priced like a full album, but it's not, so it shouldn't really matter in my opinion

Coelacanth 3rd August 2015 10:14 PM

Looks like tasuku is the weak link on this album.

This is the same guy who arranged About You, HANABI ep. II, reminds me... Poor guy needs to do some soul searching.

*Petit* 3rd August 2015 10:31 PM

FIngers crossed for high sales !

pimenta 3rd August 2015 10:42 PM

Yeah, the sixxxxxx will chart on the album's chart, so not really a big deal to not include "mini" on the description.

If anything, it's good it's being called a "new album". This way it becomes much less likely that she would put those songs in another album like LOVE again.

Zeke. 3rd August 2015 10:58 PM

Honestly, it's gotta be the mixing! The difference in quality is huge between the pieces from yesteryear composed and arranged by the same people. You don't just get worse over time. Or they are just really amateur with the new programs they are using. Either that or avex has decreased the amount of sound banks they have to choose from (although I would think as arrangers they would have access to their own).

Oh yeah, that actually crossed my mind, too! Maybe they're afraid that if they label sixxxxxx as a mini people will relate it to the LOVE again "fiasco" (as some people have actually already done here on AHS), and avex doesn't want this to hurt the sales.

Benikari47 4th August 2015 03:12 AM

I'm surprised by how much i'm loving this mini, her best work since FIVE or even Rock 'N Roll Circus imo.
Although i did like A ONE it was just listenable and a minor step up from LOVE Again, which was a snoozefest all around.

I can see myself listening to all of the songs on here in the future, Shape of Love and Summer Diary are so incredible!

Got my cd+dvd today.. Time to listen ayu's new songs...

Step by step is still my favourite track, it is a very j-pop song, and the lyrics are great. Sayonara is great but some of SpeXial are terrible at singing... Urata Naoya would have been much better. Hope there's a solo version as a bonus track on the next single/album.
