It would be boring if she came back doing electronic music again

Look at Perfume, they are so done

thinkingoutloud89 15th July 2017 10:01 AM

^and still selling and grabbing high spots, yeah

visionfactory 15th July 2017 11:07 PM

I don't know, I still love Perfume's stuff. I hope Ami comes back even if just with a one-off release. Her cook book looks so cute :laugh

Perfume are still running strong. Their style may be waning in popularity a bit, but they are still easily top 3 every single release. And they still do release singles. Like every non-idol artist, they are not as frequent because AKB48 and all the other ridiculous idol groups are overwhelming the market.

I would love Ami to come back with an album that's reflective of her DOLCE/Supreme Show era. I think she brought a lot of fun and energy to the music scene during that time. I just don't want to hear another release like Snow Ring. I can't even call that good toilet paper.

visionfactory 7th November 2017 02:39 AM

That's just too cute!

I keep checking her website in hopes of news about a new single. Disappointed. :(

prussian blue 5th May 2019 02:26 PM

^I wonder who will buy them though, even though it is only limited to 1,000 copies.

I am still frustrated her music is still not available in spotify, I really want to listen to her older stuff.

pedronekoi 6th May 2019 07:07 AM

Since this thread was reborn, here's a few updates about Ami:

She started a new Instagram account tasting spicy food (lol). It's called Karaamigo (Karai - spicy - + Amigo)
https://www.instagram.com/gekikaraamigo/

It seems that she's really doing her career based on food and being a mother. Even attending events and stuff like that: https://www.instagram.com/p/BtiscQWgdAR/ Also did collaboration with restaurants and other food products.

Also she started her own Fashion brand called Soropira: https://www.instagram.com/soropira._official/

since years ago Ami became a farmer i thought avex will close down her official website, but they still update it till 2018 May (1 year ago >.<) lol...

her last music release is at 2016 Apr, i kinda miss her now... coz i really need dance music! now namie is gone, kuu completely turn to rubbish hiphop, ayu.....*speechless*.

nowadays i listen back to some of these song, i really feel those song still as trendy as hell:
- Can't Get You Out Of My "Hair"
- You Make A Magic
- KISS KISS KISS
- can't stop the DISCO
- LOVE MAIL
- SUPER MUSIC MAKER <-- i can repeat this forever <3
- futari wa POP
- Negaigoto <-- the song made me know her

thinkingoutloud89 6th May 2019 11:13 AM

^urgh, why are people like that. Billie Eilish said in a recent interview what i'm thinking everyday I come here: "Why does some wish for the "old" soandso - you can literally just go back and listen to that music. It exists." People and artist develop (thanks god), they are not there to stay the same for 20+ years.

That said, FREE FREE/SUPER MUSIC MAKER is one of the best J-pop singles ever.

pedronekoi 6th May 2019 03:35 PM

^ Agreed. Even tho Ami didn't get a notorious celebration for her electronic partnership with Nakata (maybe because people don't even know she had an electronic era), she will be forever in the mark of great Electrodance Japanese Music. FREE FREE is for sure the best song Nakata Yasutaka ever made. Also, even if she releases new music, I don't think Ami would go back to electronic. She seems to be in a different mood now.

Also, I think she's still in avex but not especially related to music. I saw on a restaurant's Instagram telling that they were surprised to collaborate with an avex star to create a collaborative menu.
