RUN seems like such a refreshing ballad PV. Loving the concept.
Killer monsteR on the other hand... wonder who is the director of the video, because he/she is not doing a good job.

She should have an best album called ORGY with all sexual related songs and MVs.

She is the only one Japanese artist who can express Sex in her songs well.

Killer monsteR gives amateurish director vibes, looks a bit sloppy but I like the choreo & the outfits.

Really? I'm not really into Japanese market, but after all these years? Is Kumi still the only one who does that? Sounds weird to me...

Sex doesn't sell as it used to, so I don't think new acts would be that successful doing something like that.

The industry in general was in another place when it came to selling sex. During the early to mid 00s there were Britney and Christina, and that had some impact in Japan as well.

MAX had an extreme change of image (imo) from their past releases to LOVE SCREW, and the lyrics are quite steamy. It was a flop single tho. It was released less than a year before Crazy 4 U, the start of her "erokakkoi" image. I wouldn't be surprise to see that it had some impact in Kumi's decision to go for that route, because I do think Kumi is quite a MAX fan (some of her auditions where covers of MAX songs, like Seventeen and Give me a Shake). Jewel of Jewels is full of bops btw.



After the erokkakoi boom, some artists explored the sexy style more. By 2006 Goto Maki changed her image from the regular idol to her Glass no Pumps, and then SOME BOYS! TOUCH with lyrics that are quite sexy as well. She was the closest to a "Kumi clone" I think, no shade. I love her How To Use Loneliness album.



Tanimura Nana was also had an image change, funny enough it was right after Kumi's scandal. Her first two singles were very girl next door, but then it came "JUNGLE DANCE". haha Sadly she never took off, her only album is a single compilation basically.



Sowelu also tried at some point, don't know a lot about her career but Let ME Lead U will forever be a bop.



The last two that I think tried to do the sexy thing but had problems were HYNA, with "TARATIKA", and Chiaki Takahashi, with "Konya Wa CHUPA RICO". Both only had one official single.





I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting a lot of other female artists, but these where the ones that I could remember right now. For today's standards I think this type of music and style is outdated and not cool, I don't remember anyone trying and having success after 2012.

So yeah, to some degree, nobody does it like her.

it really sucks for Hyna she was something!! She was supposed to make a comeback, she updated her website but no news yet.

There are jpop artist from the 60s 70s that are sexy :P I find this lady quite sexy, Mari Natsuki, she has some racy covers and photos xD

Yeah, Jpop always had some tracks that have a more sexy style. Even Seiko Matsuda did with It's Style '95. Also, you can't talk about sexy songs and sexy image without talking about Linda Yamamoto, which I believe is also a big inspiration for Kumi.
