I always thought of XX as a variable, like you could put whatever you wanted in there. I thought two x's because names often have two characters... I also thouht that maybe this song was intended for someone, and the name was just censored because only she wanted to know.

I've always heard that it was intended for her mom? :shrug

Yeah I knew it was called A Song For, simply because they had it in one of the commercials or something. The narrator said "A Song For"

And what a good way to put XX since yes, it can be for anyone. A Song for My Mom? Eh heh... who knows?

That's what I was thinking. Besides, in math, 'x' is often used as the unknown variable.

i originally thought XX was a person *hides*
but that was the first time i'd ever heard the song lol

I like saying "XX" when I say the title, though. I think it sounds really cool. Probably the coolest sounding title of any song she has.

A song for ____ is terribly weird for me... its nice with XX since the song told someone who doesnt have parents... then the singer wants to say... "Whom i sang this to?" :D

That's what I thought too.

Maybe they could call it 'A song for X^2' (a song for x square)

isaac hiew 9th April 2004 03:55 PM

If I'm not mistaken then it should be pronounced as "A song for..."
The XX is ignored at this point. The XX thingie means the song is for everyone, including you, me, fans. non-fans whoever that listens to this song.

Yeah.. that's how I knew about it a few years ago. But initially in 2000, I thought the "XX" part was pronounced in the song title ;)
