Mika has a great style. It's really original and cleaner than Ai's usual punk look. And Mika hasn't dissapointed recently (looks at single releases and cover art).

jabroni 16th January 2005 10:40 AM

Poor ayu. Maybe she should formally retire while she's ahead? Mika's not bad, but she's no ayu! i haven't heard music from ai, but beni arashiro is much cuter than ther.

SunshineSlayer 16th January 2005 11:01 AM

I hate it how the article makes it sound like 26 is old. I guess Ayu should just die and get it over with right? :)

eriko 16th January 2005 12:05 PM

she s young for me 26 yo ! madonna is always the sueen of music and she has 20 years more

extepan 16th January 2005 01:13 PM

hehe just some gossips...not even news

HanabiChick 16th January 2005 03:32 PM

It's not a surprise that the media say this, it's only natural to say these things as other acts become popular. It's more a speculation on their part.

extepan 16th January 2005 04:02 PM

indeed it is just speculation. there is no need to get upset on 'news' like this

CT_Cool 16th January 2005 04:44 PM

Interesting news, Thanks
Even if ayu does loses out sometime soon, she still got her tons of ayu fans which follows her style, never the less lets hope she can keep on top as the trend leader :)

CyberSpaceQueen 16th January 2005 07:52 PM

still ayu will be number one in my heart forever.

zoom_zoom 16th January 2005 08:03 PM

well...she's been on the top for quite some time now so i would guess it's kinda expected even though we all hate it

Retire??? Never! Plus it's just speculation. It's not official at all.

lolo66 16th January 2005 09:23 PM

rumors are always fun.... to laugh at, keep'em coming

Chrono 16th January 2005 10:33 PM

Just like everything there is a rise to the summit and a ride back down afterwards. You don't seriously expect her to be the 'trendsetter' for the next 50 years, do you. Ayu's had her time. And, I hope not, probably has her best time behind her.

Echiko 17th January 2005 12:51 AM

Well, even though they SAY they'll be the new trendsetters...I think ayu will always be very high up there. :D I think they just wannit to post something new...maybe it's just me.

akatsuki 17th January 2005 12:53 AM

Mika or Ai instead of Ayu?? br... hope it's Ai... eventhough she's from avex... because she's from osaka :D

Brittany 17th January 2005 01:05 AM

I respect that there will always be other winners and Ayu will not always be here forever.. but it just has to be accepted.

Mika has a cute sense of fashion! I've seen her many magazine cover's lately.. she's pretty.

walking proud 17th January 2005 02:23 AM

mika and ai are bleh though! can't they pick someone better.

shizukesa 17th January 2005 02:29 AM

Mika's gorgeous.

She MIGHT be, but in my opinion she is no match for Ayu

Sorry to shock any hard core fans, but i didn't know that ayu was only 26!! That's so young to be 'retired' from a queen position! In Japan, is it common for artists to remain popular even as they age (even if they aren't the it-band/singer)? Kind of like how Madonna or U2 have?
