It was only recently that Ayumi started trying to incorporate choreographed dancing into her PV's, and I have to agree with Phantoma that the routines are just bad. :P Plus, Ayumi isn't much of a dancer.

In any case, I'm sure whatever scenes they put into the "Real Me" PV were the best ones that they got.

The video was mostly just for the story, the dancing was just added in for that poppy-feel. But still, both things combined into one and created one of her best PV's in my opinion.

It looked like to me that Britney Spears stole a little bit of the dance sequence for the video "Boys: the co-ed remix". But then again, I could be wrong about that one...yet it looks so similar...anybody willing to investigate?

But Aisha said "Boys: the Co-ed remix" so maybe it's different from "Boys?" (Boys is a very cool vid) But I never knew there was a Boys: the Co-ed remix vid. And there's not much dancing in "Boys" anyway.

Boys: the Co-ed remix was the song-version used in the video. Perhaps there are 2 versions of it b/c this video was promoting an Austin Powers movie. I haven't seen the vid since it was last on TRL here but I know that the song version that played in the vid was the coed remix cuz it had Pharell in it and all that good-juicy stuff.

I don't really remember when Boys came out but at the end with the small dance sequence ~easily missable~ it looked a little like Real Me. Don't know which one came out first but if Brit's was first I'm sorry for being wrong. All I know is Ayu's came out in 2002 (according to her video thingy I have with me) and the dances just look similar to me.

(And if it is true that Brit took Ayu's dance; it will not be the first time she's gotten inspiration from J-pop stars/culture. She publically admitted she was inspired by the costumes from some concerts she saw in Japan which I think is pretty cool in a way.)

Dance sequences are created by choreographers but the artist who has to do it has a lot of influence on what the final version looks like. The bigger the star, the bigger the influence. (in some cases; probably not all)

I'm a little tired of the "XXX copy ayu's XXX" too; but it's important to notice these things like this. That way when you hear someone talking about it a few years (or days) down; you can tell them exactly where it came from. But if we ignore it; we'll find that those things will be lost to us in silly medicine commercials for Tylenol. It's not just Ayu's stuff; it's a lot of other peoples stuff as well and it happens everyday.

People put a lot of heart into their material so it's always sad to me as just a "wannabe performer" (lol) to see things like that happen.

Anyways, Britney's video came out before Ayumi's did, etc. etc. Interestingly, Ayumi's platinum blonde, crimped hairstyle originated after Britney did it.

I'm also kinda tired of the 'xxx copied xxx' stuff because it is flattering at the very least, you know? And it's not like Ayumi does everything by herself, like all big stars, she has a lot of help.
