I would have never thought someone would share my GREATEST SONG OF ALL TIME.

For me it is 'Dearest' as well, by of course Hamasaki Ayumi. A great song to me has to do nothing with being groundbreaking or completely unique, but it has to do with the meaning of the song and the message that the listener recieves and to me I got the message of pure and divine love and devotion. This song just means the world to me and one day I hope that I can convey the feelings in this song to my loved one.

About the whole controversy about a "great song", I am personally tired of hearing people say that "GREAT SONGS" were all the oldies and really famous names because I think music is great if it really means something to you and all those artist you mentioned and the Beatles and Queens and whatnot definitely are AMAZING but I guess I wasn't around in their time period or what not to really feel what they were all about and their music. It really depends on time period and stuff too, well in my opinion. Many of today's music is probably really generic but it is pretty hard to do something extremely unique when almost everything has been tried, NOT EVERYTHING but a good deal of it. Anyways I hope I'm making any sense but yeah... ^^;; I LOVE POP music hahaha and it does mean a lot to me, their messages maybe shallow at times and sugar coated but they mean a lot to me and so they are what I consider GREAT songs. (I'm crazy don't even bother listening to me hahaha)

Mika Nakashima - Love Addict

Just one song I can listen to repeatidly without growing tired of it. Definately one of the greatest songs out their imo. XD

ayumi202 10th May 2005 10:45 PM

Evolution- Ayumi Hamasaki

It is because it is the first song I ever heard by her. I know all the lyrics too it, and it just is a great song ^ ^ Also the lyrics are great ^ ^

Erm it would have to be an Alanis Morissette song... Probably Ironic :D
Or perhaps the Goo Goo Dolls - Iris :)

Qt Mashi 13th May 2005 02:57 AM

christina aguilera - beautiful

mehh~~~ i like many of Ayu's songs the same as that but i cant choose, i have tooooo many favourites :thud

extepan 13th May 2005 04:25 PM

i have lots of favourites from my various periods:

The Sundays - Cry
morcheeba - blindfold
Brandy & monica - the boy is mine
Sasha - XPander
Matt Darey - beautiful

and out of all these songs, i would say Morcheeba - Blindfold is my favourite of all. in fact, the parent album 'Big Calm' is still my favourite album of all time, despite it being released for nearly 8 years.

i think that the all time greatest song for me is ''i have never seen'' because it was just a good song and namie does a great job singing and for me, another one would be ah....a tie between ''when someone's wishes come true'' by hikki or ''memorial address'' by ayu. both those songs make me always tear-up abit and those are songs that i can listen to for hours on end and never get tired of them.

LEOyumi 16th May 2005 04:54 PM

I just can't choose one! As I just can't choose between Madonna and Ayumi...
So I'll go with two:

Madonna - Nothing Fails & Ayumi Hamasaki - SURREAL

bernardation 16th May 2005 05:18 PM

i don't know...
maybe "state of mind" - holy valance. or "put 'em up" from namie.
love both, but maybe next year i'll be loving other songs most.

With or Without You by U2. If I could include live songs, then it would be their song "Bad", the live performance at Live Aid '85. I do like Ayumi, but those egotistical Irish bastards will always be my favorite band.

Jason 26th May 2005 09:21 PM

I have far too many to choose from.

however, in Jpop terms... my no. 1 song would either be "Surreal" or "Evolution" by Ayu, to round it off... it's gotta be "Surreal" ^_^

evechoco 27th May 2005 04:22 AM

ayumi hamasaki

Game
jus like the lyrics, i always smile naturally abt this time tomorrow as if nothing had happened.

Walking proud & no way to say
Both lyrics means alot to me

ImpactBreaker 27th May 2005 06:30 AM

Well, simply it's the song I've been in love ever since I was 6 years old or a bit more, the catchiest piece of music I've ever put my ears on - "Walk of Life" by Dire Straits. It's impossible not to get the instrumentals stuck into your head for ages. I never got tired o the song and whenever I listen to it again, oh the flashbacks of childhood LOL The song reminds me of parties and other happist moments. It really sets the mood high.

Joel 27th May 2005 06:39 AM

!!!! I can't choose one! ok, now I can...

Its...!! ARG!
ok I'll choose!

Its between ayumi hamasaki - forgiveness or BoA - My Name

I'm gonna have to go with:

BoA - My Name

reasons are:
1.My first ever song to ever listen out of my own country!
2.It made me discover ayu!
3.Its just a fun, dancing, energenic song!

People usually say along the lines of My Name is terrible. mostly because its way different from her previous albums... That may be true, but I like change :yes

ayumi202 30th May 2005 01:15 PM

i thin its MOMMNETS

SunshineSlayer 29th September 2005 09:41 AM

I think a better title for this thread would be: "Your #1 favorite song of all time" or something along those lines. I see greatest and favorite as two different things, so here are both of mine:

Favorite: A Song For Xx - Ayumi Hamasaki (A BEST version)
Greatest: COMA - Guns n' Roses (10 minutes of awesome rock n' roll that as with Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody I can't see being duplicated by anyone. Even the band themselves rarely tried this one live and the times they did, it was with varying degrees of success. Extremely difficult song and Axl's songwriting at its craziest best)
