haha.. fairyland and ANGEL'S SONG are only similar to a limited extent!! its only the first line of the chorus that's similar! and both songs sound totally different.. and ayu had Bold & Delicious cos she liked the songs from SWEETBOX right? so she wanted to try it out.. it came out to be a pleasant surprise isnt it? i dont think an ayu fan should keep condemning their idol's songs..

walking proud 6th April 2006 09:20 AM

I always get fairyland and angels song mixed up in my head.. :[

hallelujah_united 6th April 2006 11:52 AM

I think they're decent enough, though I have to say sometimes they do sound a bit repetitive.

But STEP you was a blast, and so was alterna.

fairlyland slightly sounds like ANGEL'S SONG but that's a big slightly. As for Bold & Delicious sounding like part of AUDIENCE, they sound nothing alike.

Yeah, Ayu does compose some of her music. I wish she would do it more, the last ones she has composed though are Will, winding road, and Humming 7/4. As for Audience and B&D sounding similar, I dont think so. Angels song and fairyland... maybe one or two verses and I geuss because the music is fast in both songs, it may sound more alike.

Chibi_Venus 6th April 2006 08:50 PM

Yeah when I first heard fairyland, I actually saw the Music Station or Heyx3 (don't remember) performance, and I walked away from the computer singing "nee kimi watashi ka ni". It drove me crazy and I just couldn't remember fairyland at all!

I do agree that since she's had at least over 100 songs, you can't really expect them ALL to be completely different, right?

Ryoko 6th April 2006 08:51 PM

Ayu sometimes composes her own music, but she's not a professional so we can't expect her to come up with a completely different melody to the song every time she composes something.

Plus, the majority of Ayu's songs are not composed by Ayu.

I think Hamasaki has quite a lot of variety in her music compared to some other artists with the same number of albums .

I hear similarities in some of the CREA songs, but I never thought the songs mentioned in the first post sounded the same. :shrug

truehappiness 7th April 2006 01:09 AM

I also think the arrangers need to be taken into account xD

Whee~ ANGEL'S SONG is probably just as sugary as fairyland is [at least I think so] which is why people think they sound similar :\ [sort of like how a lot of people were like 'ew dearest = heven' when it came out]

LacusClyne 7th April 2006 01:12 AM

^not really. dearest tune is more simple then Heaven. i do not like Dearest that much, but i do prefer Heaven.

No. It's literally the SAME NOTES FOR THE FIRST LINE OF EACH CHORUS. There's no "probably". They are. The. Same. Notes.

alternarist 7th April 2006 03:30 PM

its only for that few notes.. its not enough to say that ANGEL'S SONG sound very like fairyland..

Neo Daydream 7th April 2006 04:51 PM

^ true dat!
itz gonna happen! there's only so many notes that are possible to use in this dimension!

cucumber 7th April 2006 05:42 PM

HAHA, i mixed up Startin's chorus with INSPIRE's chorus when i first listened to Startin'.

PURIN 7th April 2006 06:02 PM

actually i dont think the notes are the same
plus the tempo is different?

They are the same. Not through the entire chorus, but the beginning of it ( the first note and third and fourth notes I think). This is a measurable fact, not opinion, just like feet, centimeters etc. The tempo is different, sure and the songs aren't the same, angel's song isen't as nostalgic as fairyland, but the beginning of the chorus' are the same.

I don't think it matters, but considering that ayumi picks the melodies herself, it's not that strange that some of them end up sounding similar, she is one person with one taste in music, just like all of us.

Larisa-chan 7th April 2006 06:53 PM

I know that the chorus from Born to be... and Fairyland are like the exact same in the beginning part haha..

Also, I remember people complaining that UNITE! was just another Evolution, except worse ;)

Raleigh 7th April 2006 07:08 PM

Not really. Some songs might resemble each other but none are exactly really the same. Some remind me of other songs but only as hints.

alternarist 7th April 2006 08:01 PM

^ the only 2 songs that resemble each other slightly are.. ok i have to admit... ANGEL'S SONG and fairyland.. but others sound so different from one another..

evolution = UNITE! ?
Bold & Delicious = AUDIENCE ?
Dearest = HEAVEN ?
Startin' = INSPIRE ?

oh gosh..
