i have confidence in Ayu :D

Cyria 12th April 2006 08:37 PM

I'm still hoping for 200k, I think this single definitely deserved better sales.

ayu_fan929 12th April 2006 09:24 PM

They usually do. But if you look at the sales for the last few months across the board, sales have been low - these last few months have really been a major slump for just about everyone.

truehappiness 12th April 2006 11:55 PM

For some reason, I see a correlation to the bad sales and something.. but w/e xD

Most likely sales will pick up this season. :]

ayu_ayu301 13th April 2006 12:00 AM

not that I don't have faith in Ayu .. but I really suspect only Ayu singles took this drop ...

most ayu single tend to sell around 300K even when other singles are selling like they do now ... (pre-B&D days of course)

... and this single is really good .. i'm surprised it didn't go near 300K even .. hopefully her next single will sell back a lot

is it also low for other artists as well?

so maybe sales for all artists have gone down so now the average sales is much lower?

Well, if you look at the last singles released by BoA, Utada, Koda, Mika, and Hyde, none of them got to 150,000 - most didn't even make it past 100,000. And I don't think many singles have passed 200,000 since Dec. except for a few groups like Kat-tun(which is to be expected after all the hype.)

Also it hasn't taken much sales to reach number one. If you look at the list of lowest selling singles to reach #1, most of them have come out between Fall 05 and now.

I guess the real test will be the sales ranking this week because B'z has a new single coming out and their sales are the most comparable to Ayu's.

kinda true. the top 10 is pretty much je-dominated, but the overall sales are ok. so far, theres like around 13 singles to pass 200k; and ayaka's (debut?) single did pass 200k as well making it the only female single to do that. so i guess it really depends on the song, and not the artist (that is for solo artists, not groups)

perfectdeath 13th April 2006 05:10 PM

i was hoping for a similarity in her 2005 sales. oh well

Actually it depends on what dorama the song is used in. :) That's the reason why the Ayaka song passed 200,000, it was the theme song from a dorama that was being promoted all over the place at the time I was visiting.

elepop 14th April 2006 03:10 PM

OMG, so little until a million for "(m)u"!

krishna 15th April 2006 05:29 AM

Thanks for updating m(u) sales!
The sales is so slow!I hope it can reach 900k very soon.

HELVENEUE 17th April 2006 06:44 AM

haha, we should tell ayu to buy 20,000 copies of her own album to make it go 1,000,000 XDDD

...or one of us could do it? : -D

Norrel 17th April 2006 06:57 AM

20,000 x ~3,000yen = 60,000,000yen. or US$~505,000. and that wouldnt even guarantee the album a million.

darkswordz 18th April 2006 10:48 AM

^or 140k copies :D
