Hmmm, Carols would've been a good choice...yeah as someone said, NOMINATION, I think she probably expressed she didn't want to win since she was nominated, and so did Hirai, so hmm...that's sad....I hope Koda takes every award she can get....lol

I also heard this.

Well, there is only one thing I wanna tell you, No motter she is going to win the award again or not, no matter what the true is. Our princess ayu has already became a legend, a history and so on. She is the first, the one and the only singer who could win this award continuously for 3 years. (It seem like )The longest ever before her was 2.

norain 30th June 2006 09:06 PM

Eh...well, I'm gonna start hoping Koda wins 4 years now..lol

I don't understand still~why would you reject an award?

Nevada 1st July 2006 03:42 AM

I also heard she did not want to accept award for INSPIRE. Because she felt selfish~ or something~.

Hamasaki Ayumi will not participate in the 2004 Japan Record Awards

INSPIRE to have won the gold prize at the JAPAN RECORD AWARDS

according to wikipedia, ayu could have won the gold prize at the japan record awards a 4th time in a row, but she turned it down because she didn't want INSPIRE to win... anyone know if this is completely true or any reasons why she wouldn't want INSPIRE to win?

Ayumi has also won the golden prize on the Japan Record Taishou (the most important award in Japanese music) three times in a row, in 2001, 2002 and 2003. She would also win it in 2004, but she rejected the award saying she doesn't want her song INSPIRE to win an award.

Wikipedia, an easily editable-site thingie..

Is not THAT reliable.. someone probably put that there after it was stated here at AHS.

devilayu 2nd July 2006 05:16 AM

That is, as far as I know, an unsubstantiated rumor. There was no formal note regarding if Ayumi (or another artist who turned down awards) would have won.

PURIN 2nd July 2006 05:17 AM

wasnt there a news site that said ayumi rejected the award and wanted other people to get the award?

Yukitora 2nd July 2006 05:35 AM

^Yeah, that's what I read from some interview (which I have no recollection of which) O_o.

2004 was the year with the whole "lets fire Max - oh, he's prez now!" inncident which made Ayu feel that she didn't deserve the award (for some reason....)

But I also thought Ken Hirai also rejected the award after Ayumi...?

AyUmIXx 2nd July 2006 05:38 AM

there's a thread about this too rite?

Here. XD

alternarist 2nd July 2006 05:40 AM

there are no supported reasons for this. XD

Mad_Cactuar 2nd July 2006 06:17 AM

I've also read somewhere that the awards are influenced heavily by record companies to promote artistes. So I dunno.

truehappiness 2nd July 2006 06:19 AM

Well, it was avex specifically that they hinted that at..

Kikaru 2nd July 2006 06:49 AM

It was around the time of the 2004 avex thing, so naturally she doesn't really want to be involved in any controversy. So she quit while she's ahead because declining if she was nominated would be just rude.

Nevada 2nd July 2006 07:15 AM

This AGAIN? Wasn't there already a topic about this???
