anyway. just to put it out there, I'm not a jealous ayu fan, and i don't dislike Koda Kumi. I'm not a fan of her ero kakkoi image, and I don't think her music is SPECTACULAR, but i do enjoy some of her songs. no hard feelings if i put off any kuu fans. thanks for posting this link.

-WHEW!-

Yeah I think that she is my icon, its true that my fave is Amuro but the way she is...she become my idol...think of her as a not perfect girl, that had to fight much for become popular and was not perfect but also overweight before debut..she is human, I know everyone is but that human part of her never gone, many idols look like perfect dolls but she is always human and natural, I like her for that...and I enjoy her music much, to tell the truth I think Ayu's music used to be better and original before and now I think she lack of originality and Kuu didnt reach that originality Ayu had but I really like her =)

And thanks so much for the YSI links xiaou-xijiang! ^°^

Oh, btw, can people just stop saying my translation was sensationalist? If you want a perfect translation, I suggest you to learn Japanese or Portuguese, so you can look the real one at Uwasa.

It's not sensationalist. Max Matsuura called Koda fat. Maybe Max called her chubby, but the translation from the japanese word is "gorda" (I'm 100% sure) and the translation gorda is fat. So don't scold me for saying Max said she was fat, because he did. Plus, there's a more especific translation of what he said later on the thread, so look for that.

And there's anything sensationalist on them. Actually, there's most of the info in the other recaps and more, so stop saying it's out of proportion or misleading because from what I saw people translating, it isn't at all.

Oh well, that discussion is over. Now, let's hope someone decides to sub that.

In Japan, "fat" means you weigh more than 115 lbs. And people think that the west has impossible standards of beauty. :rolleyes

Ayu has had that effect and to a greater degree I think, but right now it is Koda's turn to shine. Also, Koda has not beaten the Kinki Kids. Sales from this week:

1 - Kinki Kids - 239.000
2 - Koda Kumi - 207.000

Bad news for Ayu though as that makes Koda's single the highest opening sales for a female artist this year and its total sales will likely surpass any female single released this year so far.

Very interesting video though. Thanks for the link. It helped me understand Koda better.

Well I wouldn't say that would be a priority. I wouldn't say Kuu getting #1 singles is that big of a priority compared to Ayu... All she needs to do is just sell well, and maybe pick up some awards here and there (ie: Gold Disc and maybe repeat Record Taishou again this year?) and she'll be fine.

I didn't say it was a priority either. I was just replying to some incorrect info.

^Oh Ok then, my bad!

WOAH, alot of interesting scenes there. i only wished that i knew what they ewre saying exactly...

The fighting spirit that all these artists have never ceases to amaze me. It's Kuu in this case, but really there are so many others out there who have had to go through really terrible times to get to where they are today.

Yes and imagine all the artist who try that hard and never suceed? Koda was lucky.

Once, I read an english article about a japanese AVEX female artist who never suceeded. She was pretty and all and she tried very hard, but she didn't had any hit and so she had an eating disorder and tried suicide and then give up on the entertainment world (I find it during a random Google search and unfortunetly, I didn't bookmarked it)... I think that's very common...

Thats sad ... Reminds me of Nanase Hoshii

her second single was released in March and it only sold around 1,500. It fell out of the oricon 100 in a week

[She should be happy i bought it]

Yes, it's a three-part special. But I'm not sure if Uwasa will upload the other 2 parts.

I don't think it's neccessarily "bad news" for ayu. remember, this is 4 hot wave, it's supposed to be THE koda single. To me this seems like Koda's "A" or something. Ayu has only released "normal" singles this year, the decision to change BLUE BIRD from another triple A side to what it became was probably the wisest decision this year, as she ended up having almost comeback sales with a normal single. 4 hot wave 'll probably end up like mika nakashima's GLAMORUOS SKY single did, the special female solo single selling a lot. The past years since 2002, in which ayiu's H was number one overall, she hasen't had the top female single. The difference IMO from this situation to the past years is that koda may have more staying power (if her general sales became like koi no tsubomi) than f.ex ai otsuka, ayaka hirahara, mika nakashima had. But we won't be able to see that before a couple of more singles and the album is released. If the same thing happens to Koda like it did to f.ex ai and mika, and ayu's single sales are more or less consistent, ayu willstill be the top single selling artist, because all ayu singles tend to sell more or less a very well. (remember that B&D was the fourth single of 2005, making the total single sales for ayu in that year even higher than for 2004) If koda consistently has sales like koi no tsubomi with her normal singles, then I agree that her position as most selling female is "threatened". Of course it is bad news in general that her singles are moving down the yearly chart (which is probably what sunshine slayer ment, right??).

andre2907 1st August 2006 06:38 PM

^ Ai Otsuka is still selling very well and her singles have very consistent sales, with two since Sakuranbo going over 300k (SMILY and Planetarium).

I don't think the mods do a bad job. I tought the way the whole situation was handled was a little irresponsable, but another mod replied me very nicely when I explained to him the whole deal (the one who locked my topic wasn't very nice 'tho) and I think most of them do a nice work.
