$888 for a concert? Rain's an idiot.

voltron 10th January 2007 08:13 PM

Honestly, I think a lot of you are being really naive in your complaints. Ayu is, above all else, a business. She can't just do a smaller concert, because she'd still lose money. In the past she said the reason she didn't want any Asian tours is because she would want all of her own staff, but it's incredibly expensive to transport and house them all in a completely different country. So the fact that she's going anywhere other than Japan right now is pretty amazing.

A smaller concert just wouldn't bring in enough revenue to justify the costs that would be spent on it.

Chandrachan 10th January 2007 08:57 PM

wow $800 for a concert?! no way I'd pay that much!!
I wish I could go to Shangai on the 22nd April just 4 days after my birthday!! I wonder how much the tickets cost?

Cyria 10th January 2007 09:10 PM

I'm sorry for the Singaporean fans who hoped Ayu's Asia tour would bring her to their country. :( $888, that seems like a pretty crazy sum.

WTF? Why is he an idiot? Because the tickets were $888? He's insanely popular, not an idiot.

Yes, because the tickets were $888. I don't care how freaking popular he is. Paying close to $1,000 for a concert? That's a freaking rip-off. You're watching someone sing, not buying a computer or a plasma T.V.

Thing is, lowered ticket prices would probably bring in more money than higher ones - more people who might want to attend could afford to do so. By having prices that high, he makes less than he could with lower prices. Who does he think can afford to do that crap?

ayu_fan929 10th January 2007 10:01 PM

^Yet wasn't it still sold out? The power of fangirls/housewives shouldn't be underestimated...

EDIT: Just want to ask, if the tickets were officially priced at SG$888 or was it because of the limited number of tickets, the highest people auctioned the tickets off was 888?

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 10th January 2007 11:41 PM

I did'nt like the article just because they got the age wrong.

marty518 10th January 2007 11:45 PM

Oh my gosh wow... Madonna was $350 for the BEST seats, and Rain is $888?! That is ridiculous! If he can get people to pay it, though, good for him.

Correct you are.

Larisa-chan 10th January 2007 11:52 PM

lol and I thought Barbra Streisand was bad at $700 for tickets >.>

nmskalmn 11th January 2007 12:08 AM

The figure in the article is SG$888. That's about US$575.

Still way too expensive. I'm shocked Rain (or any pop singer for that matter) tickets cost so much.

Terri 11th January 2007 12:10 AM

Rain and whoever needs to get over themselves.

ayu_fan929 11th January 2007 12:43 AM

imo I don't see why Rain is the "idiot". It's the fans that are buying the tickets. If few fans bought those tickets, then he would have cancelled the concert altogether, which I don't think has happened.

explodingbird 11th January 2007 12:49 AM

Partly because I think he's gonna lose popularity slowly but surely due to such high prices. Seeing the actual numbers skal posted (what they convert to in the U.S.) is less outrageous, but still very outrageous, as she (? She, right? Right?) said. Also, what makes a concert so freaking great that you think it's okay to charge nearly $600 for it?

ayu_fan929 11th January 2007 12:56 AM

Meh...I don't even like him. But I know that girls/women will pay anything to get close up seats to see him because of his sex appeal.

explodingbird 11th January 2007 12:57 AM

For those prices they should be able to have a quickie with him backstage. Individually.

~*Mabushii*~ 11th January 2007 02:19 AM

dude.. i couldnt even spend $300 on nickleback tickets (that would get me back stage with them ect..) i couldnt spend like $575 on tickets just to SEE her.. from gods only knows how far away my seats would be??

it's still impossible. see, singapore is a very small country, the sponsors can't be sure of how many people will go to her concert and how many people can afford the money.
Average ayu's fans ages are from 14 to 25 years old. these group are mostly students, they don't have the money.
then let's not forget that ayu's pay are VERY high!!!! higher then Rain, and ayu always bring her own team and production team, those cost a lot of money.yes, the cost are highly then Rain. therefore, the tickets WILL be higher then Rain's
secondly, most of Rain's fans here are around 23 to 50 years old. they earn more money, they can afford to go.

because there are lazy Singaporeans who prefer to see Rain here in our little country.

well, in Singapore Rain is more popular then Ayu. the korean craze is VERY strong here.

that is the original price set by the organisation. the following are the other ticket prices

all prices are in Singapore dollars
Standard - S$488, S$388, S$288, S$188.

the sponsor had to set the ticket this high.....because they had to get back their cost money.
and Singapore is so small, they won't be able to know how many people can go. and the concert is only for a night.
