I agree on misono comment. Everything after Kojin Jugyo & VS can kiss my ass.

bondingo 10th June 2007 04:04 PM

I actually didn't think I had any J-Pop artists that did this to me when I originally saw the thread, but after reading the posts you people are so right on some of these. Here are mine:

Shiina Ringo - She was seriously on her way to surpassing Ayu and Namie in my eyes, and she would have been if she continued with the inventive ROCK material from her first three albums, but then she *******ed it all up by joining freaking Tokyo Jihen. Their first CD was slightly good at best, but their second was absolute crap compared to her earlier material. And I SO totally agree with ImpactBreaker about that album's only good single being decimated by changing it into the jazzier (aka crappier) Album Version. I thought her solo comeback album might have been a complete turnaround, but no, it's mostly recycled, re-arranged tracks from before where the originals are better anyways. What a mess. Sure, it would be an impressive album if she hadn't already sung more than half of the tracks before, but what kind of crappy new single was the disgustingly poor "Kono Yo no Kagiri"? Crap, pure crap, and now I can barely look at her old music the same way again knowing how crappy it's now become. Truly a disastrous course she has taken.

BoA - Not even to half the extent of the aforementioned artist have I lost interest in BoA, but it does seem like everything has become recycled and generic. Sure, I absolutely adored Winter Love, and Sweet Impact isn't bad at all, but I just feel like she should be doing something a little different from before.

LacusClyne 11th June 2007 03:36 AM

BoA

i really love her old songs, but she seem to be trying too hard to 'be mature' and something seem off from her songs...they don't leave an impact on me anymore.....

As for nami tamaki, she's good. but if her songs kept repeating the same style, i might give up with her after a while, i'll give her another year

Echoed_Memories 11th June 2007 03:46 AM

mink- Haven't heard anything new from her in a looong time, so I just lost my interest

BoA- She hasn't released anything lately that has "wowed" me

I agree with you on Shiina Ringo's last album. I was looking really forward to it since I like her solo stuff much better than TJ, but it wasn't that good. I'm really not into any of the rearranged songs because I think they took away what made them so good to start with.

For me, Ayumi Hamasaki (too many boring releases, one after the other), globe, etc. I really don't listen to too much jpop anymore.

ll moments ll 11th June 2007 03:54 AM

Koda Kumi - after BEST ~First Things~, i just got tired of Kuu. i guess you can say all the "BEST" stuff really turned me away from her. her post-Secret material haven't been great either. although i do like "BUT," "Cherry Girl," & "Ningyo-hime."

Nakashima Mika - i haven't really enjoyed anything of Ms. Nakashima after "GLAMOROUS SKY." her material on "YES" didn't grab my attention. it's not that i hate it, that type of music doesn't fit my style.

Otsuka Ai - i think the last single i fully enjoyed was "Planetarium." her latest singles have been good, but not amazing. i'm looking forward to "PEACH / HEART" since "PEACH" is the theme to "Hana Kimi." hopefully that will boost an interest in her again.

it's such a shame because i used to LOVELOVELOVE all 3 of these ladies. :(

ditto!

also I'd say BoA :( Her songs just don't appeal to me as much as before

Xianghua 11th June 2007 03:04 PM

BoA, I haven't really loved her since the Quincy single. The newer stuff has gotten boring. Yes, ironically she's in my set right now. XDD

Plumeria 11th June 2007 03:16 PM

BoA. Love & Honesty was the last release by her that I really enjoyed, her new stuff isn't as interesting to listen to.

Aisha_Angel 11th June 2007 04:26 PM

BoA: *sigh* Everything she's released since 2005 sounds like everything she released during the "Listen to my Heart~Love & Honesty" eras. I have also found a disliking of her voice altogether as far as her latest tunes go. Hopefully her next Korean album will have better things for me, because "Made in Twenty" sounded like it was "Made in Twenty~Seconds".

CHEMISTRY: I could've sworn that they released a greatest hits album back in 2005...Anyway, their stuff is just annoying to me now. I loved their R&B vibe but now it's just getting old.

Crystal Kay: I am *this* close to throwing away EVERYTHING that reminds me of her. I'm giving her one last chance with her new album, and if it doesn't satisfy my ears C-Kay is out the window. "Call Me Miss" was just terrible to me because she kept the SAME vocal-level for practically all the songs, with the exception of "Koi ni Ochitara", "namida ga afuretemo" & "Kiss ~classical version~".

dream: Their case is just like C-Kay and the artist that follows them. All of their songs sound EXACTLY the same...In fact, they sound like "My Will" except as remixes all the way through. I'm happy to hear that their going to start out 2007 with a new sound...I wonder which track on their new mini-album will be the original and which ones will just be remixes of it too.

Hikaru Utada: Too many ballads & too many songs that sound like "Hikari". (I don't know how to describe it but they all do to me) I listened to Kiss & Cry the other day and I just couldn't enjoy it at all. ULTRA BLUE was a major disappointment for me too because the songs sounded similar to other ones I'd heard before.

KinKi Kids: Generic-songs & melodies I have heard before don't make me a fan of them anymore. I wish they'd just break up so that Koichi can keep making solo music, "mirror" was the best J-pop male album I've heard since like forever.

Koda Kumi: As much as I'd hate to admit it, I used to be a fan of Koda's. During the "secret" era I love her spontanity, especially on tracks like "selfish" & "HOT STUFF". Yet at the same time I loved her ballads like "Kiseki" and "Hands". But then I had to go and buy "BEST~first things~" only to discover that she was too ****ty for me. I backslid when I heard "D.D.D" and a few of her other "12 singles in 12 weeks" songs, but then after that was finished me & Koda pretty much went our seperate ways. All of her new singles sound like Ayumi Hamasaki & BoA rejects to me.

Mai Kuraki: I just can't stand her anymore. Her voice, her personality (the lack of one anyway), and more importantly her music.

Mika Nakashima: I liked her rock-image. It was fresh and it was new for her. But I also enjoyed her clean-image too, especially the image and sound of "MUSIC". But then something HORRIBLE happened to Mika. I think those dredlocks she had in her hair might've sucked out some braincells or something because after "All Hands Together"/"Cry No More" everything just went downhill from there. I haven't even bothered listening to "YES" out of fear that the rest of the album is nothing more than a trainwreck.

Miliyah Kato: I have to ask myself everyday whether or not she's on crack or heroine. Why does she keep releasing cover songs as singles? Why can't she just stick to making her own music? *sighs* I loved her music up until she started making cover songs. She's so beautiful ans so talented, she's just far too gifted to be resorting to such lows.

m-flo: Their last album remains the BIGGEST disappointment I've had in years. I'm so glad I didn't waste my money buying it. I knew they were headed for crapload island when I heard "Summertime Love", after that I just stopped listening to their singles completely. Then when the album came out, I downloaded it only to find more crap. The only songs that were actually decent were "Luvotomy", "Love Don't Cry" & "STUCK IN YOUR LOVE".

Nami Tamaki: She's a sweet girl and all, she's got good songs and all...But I wish she would just move on to making music that's a little different from what she's been doing. She doesn't have to give up the techno-dance stuff, just make it interesting is all I'm asking.

Tohoshinki: I almost gave up on them for J-Pop music. "Five in the Black" just didn't cut it for me the way "Heart, Mind & Soul" did. But since they released "Lovin' you" I'm starting to reconsider just a little bit. (so technically, they may not have belonged up here...)

Tomiko Van: Beautiful voice but releases music that sounds like recycled crap. I had faith in Tomiko when she announced her cover album. I figured that it couldn't be anything but good...Especially since she recorded my favorite J-song of all time, "Yasashii Ame". But low&behold the musical catastrophe that it actually became. I wish DAI would get back together again, even though that is unlikely to happen.

But yeah, that's all I could think of. Hopefully I won't have to remember anyone else.

mannie 11th June 2007 06:27 PM

Koda Kumi.... that's about it!!! :)

freedreamer 11th June 2007 06:45 PM

BoA
Hitomi Shimatani (the new singles bring her back entirely)

well, if you do decide to pitch all her stuff, id be glad to act as a garbage disposal for you. :)

for me....

Maaya Sakamoto - I used to love her! Her pure, sweet voice and great music had me hooked forever! But right after Shounen Alice (which was probably her best album), she started to suck. Her voice changed, the music changed, and Yuunagi LOOP was just awful. She really had something amazing going before that, and she had developed into such a fantastic artist! I was so looking forward to where she might go from there....but her evolution just stopped. 30minutes night flight was an improvement, but still not quite enough to restore my love for her.
I still have hope though. :/

Miku 11th June 2007 07:03 PM

Ai Otsuka - don't like her voice (listning to her sometimes)
Kana - I loved her before..

:rolleyes

UHPlus 12th June 2007 01:28 PM

used to love ayumi and hikki, now nothing from ayumi excites me anymore...
i'm not that hard-core hikki fan like i used to be but i still like her new stuffs.

my interests in namie , BoA and D.A.I (although they are disbanded) increases alot over the year...

i also started to listen to koda kumi, angela aki and yuna ito...they're quite gd ^_^

Annabelle 12th June 2007 01:48 PM

Nami Tamaki. I dropped you after Result, which was your last good song. Sanctuary and onwards just sucked.

misono. ROFL. Anything after your 2nd single was crap.

Ayumi Hamasaki. (miss)understood to present. Sorry, your new songs can't reach my heart anymore. I still listen to pre-(miss) songs.

Kumi Koda. STOP PUTTING OUT CHEAP MUSIC. Your 12 singles event was great at first, but it got crappier after No Regret. Black Cherry was utter crap. FREAKY (all except the title track) are kind of better though.

I WANT THE Hana, Asterisk, Locolotion and VIVA ROCK ERAAA!!!

Partino 12th June 2007 03:50 PM

hmmm tough

OLIVIA ... her new songs just felt like she's copying herself

BoA ... can't stand her anymore. Dunno why but it was like I woked up one day
and decided not to listen to her music anymore. Have I mentioned that I'm a crazy person?

Ai Otsuka ... what was I thinking? Maybe it was just a "I-have-to-listen-to-uber-cute-music-or-I'm-going-to-die-phase"

Cyria 12th June 2007 05:20 PM

I'm still a fan of the artists I loved when I was an AHS newbie, but some of the ones I was casually interested in at that time (like BoA, Gackt and Mika Nakashima) I no longer take the time to follow. I might download a single if I notice it here on AHS, but overall their material stopped being exciting IMO.

Cloudsoldier 12th June 2007 06:08 PM

misono (VS is great single, the rest are not, i still like DAT-misono)

Ayu (nothing new, doesn't excites me so much but i still like her)

Suzuki Ami ( the whole "join" project collaboration sucks. I don't like Conetta album much, but i LOVE her ATW days)

I still listen to them though..
