Ani_C 10th November 2007 05:12 PM

Nice. Still though, Secret only sold that much O_O;;!? What the? xD

tokyoxjapanxfan 10th November 2007 05:16 PM

yeah im really confused with the secret sales. black cherry was released the same month as secret and it says it sold WAY more, which is the true amount of sales for black cherry. but seeing as secret was released that month, is should indicate the correct sales. they were both released december of 06, weren't they?! haha i just dont understand really :-\

Zemus 10th November 2007 05:33 PM

Black Cherry released almost a month later (20th December) than Secret did. But that 1,018,670 can't be right. Because it sold 500k in it's first week and that was still in 2006. So Kuu should have 500k less sales in 2007 than reported in post #1.

Unless they start to count for 2007 already in last week of '06?

JCD13 10th November 2007 06:21 PM

Wow, thats great considering Ayu has released less products then Kuu and Mr. Children and isnt that far behind them in sales. Ayu is definitely getting better and 2008 will be her year.

Yea, that's what they did...counted all of her "2006" sales of BC over to next year which I thikn is unfair but hey, it's the rules. We can get mad at Kumiko for that. Congrats to the both of them. It's still amazing that Ayu didn't even release that much and still managed to take the #3 spot. Ayu still has game. Besides, next Ayumi and Kumiko is going to have to worry about one person next year: Utada Hikaru! :laugh

Halla 10th November 2007 06:45 PM

I don't understand whats the point of counting sales by adding up everything: albums, singles & DVDs. those things are hardly equal :o

Luv ~Venus~ 10th November 2007 06:51 PM

Well, I would say that since albums in general sucks nowadays, the record companies plus Oricon wants the artists to look good or whatever. I recall albums was the only thing that counted most or rather mattered.....but now everything is about money and spotlight and who can outdo who! :no

saywindies 10th November 2007 07:14 PM

3rd is really good considering that there was no concert dvds and only 5 releases this year! omedetou!

makie_7 10th November 2007 07:36 PM

Congratz to Ayu!!!!! well done!! keep working cause your the best!

I think that is based on the oricon year not the actual year itself...that's why secret's first 2 weeks wasn't counted and black cherry, that was released later, was counted fully. Anyways...congrats to ayu~ I'm very proud of her!

angelwing886 10th November 2007 08:27 PM

Congratulation to Ayu

Well Oricon was always obsessed with counting numbers since day one. Furthermore the only way to classify an artist in Japan is by sales unlike from USA where some artists don't sell a lot but still get critical acclaim. Personally I think it sucks because it leads artists to try to fit into the slot of mainstream rather than try new things.

Cyria 10th November 2007 08:39 PM

Good news! I'm glad she's still doing well after so many years.

It is... http://www.ahsforum.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=181

...except they added 'Secret' sales in (which is the wrong number anyway). It's supposed to be 171,997 and not 180,898.
EDIT: ...and they have the wrong sales for A BEST 2.

Because that's basically how Oricon counts it?

So this is faulty information then and the person who created this thread actually ripped this info from you? :grumpy
