ketchup mania has been red-hot since winning Shojo Beat's "Best Japanese Punk Group" award in the 2007 Music Issue.
In May 2007, the band released their first CD on Japanese major label Toy's Factory, titled "U.R.G.E." Guitarist and co-songwriter Dai says that the album's title comes from the urge they all have to play music and share it with their fans - and the four periods in-between the letters are for each member of the band putting their mark on the music. In June 2007, ketchup mania partnered with JapanFiles.com to make their debut in America at A-Kon 18 in Dallas, Texas. The band rocked the stage for 2500 fans, their biggest audience ever. "It was like a dream," said singer Hiro, who couldn't stop smiling after the show. "Meeting our fans in the USA made me so happy!"
ketchup mania returned to Japan for non-stop touring, with songs from "U.R.G.E." and their chart-topping CD "Greetings from Tokyo" dominating the set list.
In August 2007, they released the follow-up CD "L.O.V.E." and have just announced their return to the USA to perform at Sakura-Con 11 in Seattle, Washington in March of '08!

In Aug 2006, a brand new Rock band "SCANDAL" was formed with four bright and talented high school girls in Osaka, Japan. SCANDAL quickly began playing lives at SHIROTEN, a Mecca of Street Live Performances, in Osaka Castle Park. Seemingly overnight, SCANDAL began consistently pulling in more than a hundred fans for each of their live performances.
As an Indie band, with unreleased songs, SCANDAL unusually and rapidly penetrated into not only the music industry, but into the local community as well. Positive rumors and recognition spread across the nation, so that even people in Tokyo started to talk about SCANDAL. In Aug 2007, SCANDAL seized on an opportunity to participate in a special event at Shibuya Club Asia, a most recognized and respected club with the long history in Shibuya. During this first trip to Tokyo, they were invited to a radio show as guest artists and also to perform at a University Festival.
In the upcoming year 2008, SCANDAL has dove headlong into the world of Japanimation with each member turned into an animated character. The animated SCANDAL will drive a series of short animation movies on the internet. But there is so much more to come!
On March 3rd, Girls Day, the much anticipated first original CD for SCANDAL will officially be released. Immediately after the release, SCANDAL will depart for a Two-Week and Eight-City USA Tour, including participation in the Northwest's biggest Animation event, Sakura-Con. The second CD on April 4th and the third on May 5th are now already scheduled released. And the SCANDAL's domestic Summer tour is now in planning.
SCANDAL's sound consists of Guitar, Bass and Drums. They are unrefined, yet gifted with a unique sense of POP culture, with no restrictions or limitations, and pure energy. One of the SCANDAL's great advantages is that not only HARUNA, the band leader, main vocals and the guitar, can sing well. The other three are also good singers and often share lead vocals. The harmony of these elements comes to a peak in their live performances.
These real-time high school girls, residents of Osaka—Nara—Hyogo, create very straight forward, yet sensitive lyrics that grab the heart of their generation and gain great sympathy among their fellow girls. Scandal, the Japanese girlie Pop Rock band of the next generation, is about to take off from Osaka to the World!

ALI PROJECT transcends the confines of music to create something new: dramatic Japanese literature set to melody. An amalgamation of Dark Rock and essential Gothic, they combine Lolita mystery with Balladeer integrity. Colorful and cute, ALI PROJECT refuse to conform to expectation, implementing touches of Classic Pop, old-school Japanese Rock and Avant-Garde soundscapes to cover a variety of genres for their wide audience. Displaying high technical proficiency and a penchant for skillfully layered arrangements, they seemingly breathe life into a world of their own design.
They debuted on the Toshiba EMI label with the release of Koiseyo Otome in July 1992. They released 3 albums and 4 singles under contract, but following the release of Noblerot in 1998 established their own ZAZOU Records label in Japan. Their music has since become part of a full media blitz with work showcased in commercials, film soundtracks, and anime theme songs. Among them are the following:
Ankoku Tengoku from the anime Kamichama Karin; Poeny Pink from the anime Clamp Campus Detectives; Kinjirareta Asobi from the anime Rosen Maden; Gesshoku Grand Guignol from the anime Avenger; Copellia no Hitsugi from the anime Noir; Yuukyou Seishunka from the anime Code Geass; Boukoku Kakusei Catharsis, Yogore Naki Akui, God Diva & In The World from the anime .hack//Roots; and many more.
Their success in Japan has led to invitations to play all over the world as their fan base continues to expand, but due to native popularity and an intensely busy schedule, they have declined to play outside their homeland until now. Sakura-Con will boast the overseas debut of ALI PROJECT, featuring their first appearance, performance and interview ever held outside of Japan. Don't miss this rare opportunity to experience ALI PROJECT World!! The band will also host a fan Q&A panel and autograph session.

Formed in 2002, The Emeralds are a three-piece Rock 'n' Roll band from Yokohama, Japan. With their charismatic guitarist/vocalist Kazuya, their gentle but aggressive bassist Osuke, and their energetic drummer Akio, The Emeralds have impressed audiences both in their native Japan and abroad. The band's cutting edge performance and tongue twisting lyrics create a totally unique world.
