I think that this picture from CDL 06-07 behind the scenes of ayu without make-up might be helpful about the surgery thing, without make-up+photoshop ayu's eyes are really small which pretty proves she did nothing to them I guess.
BTW I think that comparing young to older pics of someone is really stupid because the face are changing ^-^

Some of the images are a bit misleading but others do look like they got an eye job or er.. some enhancements. Most of the photos being compared are like school photos without make up and the newer photos are with photoshop and make up.

Like hitomi furuya's photographs. The first one has minimal eye liner, while the second one has eyeliner to highlight her eyes. Amuro also looks the same for me, just the second picture looks photoshopped.

Anyone who thinks hanging out at gay bars is controversial has obviously never been to one. Gay bars are usually at least 30% straight women. It's harder to find a guy to dance with than it is a girl.

As far as plastic surgery, all of my Japanese friends seem to individually think she has. When the subject of Hamasaki Ayumi ever comes up, the first thing any one of them will say is: "Her lyrics are great, but it's too bad she had her eyes done."

While I personally think she has had surgery, keep in mind there are a million ways to change your eyelid shape without surgery, and wealthy celebrities have access to the best methods. And candid pictures don't show much proof for or against the surgery stories--if they did, every tabloid cover of Celebrity-X who looked stoned because the camera caught them mid-blink would be the real deal too.

]About surgery, one thing is an absolute truth: she DEFINITELY had a surgery on her teeth. She had crooked teeth and all of a sudden they became all regular and beautiful. You can't change teeth with make up...and brackets takes years!

^Definately had her teeth fixed, like many celebreties. Why not, they're pretty now. Probably veneers.

As to smoking.. I think it's a social/party thing, otherwise we probably would've seen it more often, and it would've been noticeable on her voice (like Mika Nakashima)

Plastic surgery.. well that argument never stops, I'm not gonna say I'm 100 % on one or the other side.. but I'm leaning more to the not-operated on, she looks so different without the heavy eye make-up.

^ do veneers count as surgery? I thought it was more like aesthetic dentristry. it's pretty obvious tho that ayu has veneers tho. They are very pricey, the ycost like 600+ USD per tooth and they have to be periodically replaced.

the photoes really look like she's smoking. it looks like the cup is being used as ashtray, and honestly now what is that white thing in her hand if it's not a cigarette. I rmember when this photo first resurfaced a lot of people were claiming it's a "pen" , but the way she's holding it and the "cup-ashtray" really point towards it being a cig ...

Yeah the photo looks like she was tapping her cigarette to get rid of the ashes.

Idk, don't they like drill or file on the teeth to fit in the veneers? I guess that's kinda like surgery.

my mom's friend (who's a doctor of a sort) said that she got surgery. something about her eyes going down or something...(she's coming over today, so i'll ask her to explain it and then use some photoshop magic to say what she means)

I don't think it's simple for a doctor to determine whether a aesthetic plastic surgery was done or not, since facial features change a lot, and I'm sure we'd be getting interviews with doctors through tabloids explaining evidences of plastic surgery on these celebrities, something we don't really get. :shrug unless the changes were extremely obvious and we can compare two recent pictures, one after and other before surgery, that clearly proves that.

Yep, meanwhile the whole issue is just people who assume that I guess but comparing her 16 yo face to 20+ face (which there are a lot of facial changes between them), or rumors or they just say look at the face they look plastic, well they look plastic after a good photoshop and make-up.

That pic really did look like she was smoking...all I can say is if she does in fact smoke, hopefully she won't get some of the nasty side effects...but quite frankly, I think it's something she does on occassion rather than constantly...the plastic surgery thing..hmm well I don't really think she got it, since I've seen pix where she looked remarkably like her younger self...not only that make-up and photoshop can do a lot to a person's appearance...I mean just take a look at Oprah Winfrey (sp?) without any make-up on xD! But anyways, yeah I'm not entirely sure for the two of them...

Smoking...it depends, because it can range from socially to chain smoking. Now I don't approve of the habit, and I think it should definitely be avoided, but it doesn't really affect who you are as a person.

Plastic surgery...I've seen pictures of both sides, but you know, she has lost quite a bit of puppy fat on her face since her late teens. And yes, she definitely have ways to get her eyes larger without surgery.

I wish I could have gotten my teeth straightened without braces. Those were painful years.

The thing about that picture, is that usually... any publicly released material [like a dejidejidiary] would probably have a 99.9% chance of being looked over a ton of times just in case something slipped [boob slip, something! ugly blinking?]

exactly. i don't think Ayu has gotten plastic surgery. as people say ; when you see pictures of her without makeup her eyes are smaller, so it proves that eye makeup and mascara have made her eyes appear alot bigger than what they are.

because as someone said before. if you think about it ; Ayu has been going non stop for 10 years. if she got eyes surgery before, she would need a great amount of time to recover from it. when have you heard of Ayu stopping for months and months to recover from something? it's most obviously just the eye makeup.

and those plastic surgery videos are very fake. people change over the course of years and the person took very professional photos and compared them to photo's of them when they were very young without any make up or anything.

Some of the photos used to compare are also photoshopped to make her eyes appear larger. An example is the almond eye princess photo that everyone uses to "prove" the surgery.


Although, Ayu's nose seems to have gotten fixed over time.. I dunno how, but it just looks so.. caucasian. I don't know if your nose can change over time..
