That's a real shame, and it's sad to hear. It makes everyone look ugly when money issues come into play.
But really, it just goes to show you: always do your own bookkeeping. Or at LEAST keep in touch with it. There's really no excuse for Rihanna to not have been following along with her finances and ask questions like: "Hey, where is this money for my hundred-thousand dollar music video coming from?" I know she's young, but she's a grown woman and should know better. |
Hmmm.........how do I feel about this? There's always been something about Rihanna that I didn't like and found awkward. Not a fan of her music. And if this is true, she wrongfully accused a person and called her foul names and fired her on the spot without hearing the person out. All of this sounds very professional. Professional indeed.
Meh. I guess I don't care. |
so i have more than rihanna in my bank account??
LOL |

I personally don't find Rihanna attractive at all...I think she has a big nose, disproportionate to her face lol
Some of her songs are catchy, but she lacks the personality, whether on stage or in interviews...she just sounds so dead when she speaks...like the "I don't care" attitude... The only live I saw of her was when she sang Umbrella, and she sang only half of the song...the rest of the time, she was just moving around the stage...she sounded exhausted lol |

omg. omg. i feel so sad for rihanna @_@
after dancing her butts off, she gets 20000 left. D: if that was me. woah @_@ |
Im not surprised honestly.
Why? Cause I can say only song that really BLEW UP for her was Umbrella all her other singels were just ok. & Her last album was no doubt garbage |
I'm not surprised :\, it's happend to lots of people (TLC, Toni Braxton etc.).
And honestly she doesn't really have much going for her, shes not that great of a singer or a dancer and shes just a pretty face. She doesn't write any of her songs so she doesn't get any money for people using her songs, and even though Umbrella was such a big hit her album didn't sell that great. But, before you start flaming this is just what I think :| Quote:

aw, well. She'll learn from this...some people can't be trusted with your money, especially when they have what's best for you in mind. the road to hell is paved with good intentions IMO she blew up to quickly and too fast, something's gotta give. :no its sad, but this happens all the time in show biz. |
Well, for one you can't just say her single Umbrella was just "okay." That song was covered and remixed up the wah-zuh. No kidding either. I heard that song everywhere and all these other people did remakes and acoustic versions of the song.
She isn't my favorite artist but I think she has really neat style. She got like a dark vinyl goth r&b style. Her fashion is really interesting. We also seem to forget that she isn't from America but Barbados. They do speak an English dialect there but who is to say there aren't cultural differences? But I agree from our stand point she does seem kind of boring in interviews (or at least the one I saw). Live she wasn't so interesting either. I only saw her on the Graham Norton show with her faux diamond mic. It just sucks they didn't manage her money well. TLC had trouble but with little things and the fact that they spent more on their videos than they should have. |
hmm...i'm not sure if Rihanna's BROKE???
|
Rihanna is an amazing single artist and that has proven good for her. Why must you mess with something that is working? So what If Rihanna can't sell albums all that great, not many artists can anymore. It's even more rare for an artist to have multiple top 10s in the US in this day and time. So they have to give her that credit.
I do feel bad that she is broke. :( I don't know how to word this, I'm not sure if i would call her talented, but I will say she does have something that attracts listeners. Her songs are always new and different. Not always the same "US" sound that comes from most artists. Her voice is unique and is VERY well known it seems. You flip on the radio and hear a "Rihanna" song you instantly know who she is. So hey if Singles are doing it for her, let her be a singles artist... Rihanna is cool. :)! |
I really like her, and I own and love GGGB (except Push it on me, that´s awful, yuck!).
I think that any pop star is just the surface of what we see. Like, they´re just the image, the pretty face that we see and we only get to know the songs and interviews. But behind all that, there´s team of people who are actually the ones running the show, those who (in her case) write the songs, decide the videos and take care of the money. The problem is that, if anyone of those fails in their job, the direct damage is made to Rihanna. So she should have never lost from sight her finances. I think they have to work a lot more on her image, and not only the physical ones, in photoshoots or music videos everyone looks good, but in live performances and interviews, you can´t hide reality so much. So she has to work that up. |

I've been reading this thread since it was first posted, but I completely forgot that I never even commented here.
I personally like Rihanna...a lot. I think her voice is very unique and she has some fantastic music. Her first two albums were rather weak, but had some great singles. GGGB, as many have said, was an amazing album. I honestly liked every single track except for Lemme Get That (although Say It wasn't fantastic either). No matter, it was a very consistent album with an enormous proportion of great songs to mediocre, and I think it deserved to sell far better than it did. I bought it around when it was first released, then again when the Reloaded edition came out because I loved Disturbia so much. As for the actual issue going on, it's truly unfortunate. Obviously things didn't go the way she had hoped they would in a fiscal sense, and it's sad that perhaps the biggest mainstream female artist at the moment is almost broke. She really needs to get working on a a new album though, because only with great sales will she be able to recoup all the losses. It's too bad that GGGB didn't sell well enough to make a substantial profit for Rihanna herself, as it was undoubtedly one of the best of 2007. |
Honestly, how is this sad? A musician is living an incredibly glamorous and fun lifestyle, she has nothing to complain about. Honestly, artists are way too overpaid anyway. Give that money to people who actually matter and deserve it more (police, firefighters, teachers, nurses).

Hmm maybe this is why she recently moved in with Chris Brown :laugh
