I hate, hate, HATE Arashiro Beni. Positively can't stand anything about her. But I would rather listen to her song, Infinite... for 3 hours straight than listen to Hamasaki Ayumi's For My Dear... once. It's just a better song, even though Ayu is 50 times the artist Beni could ever dream to be.

If you prefer a bad song by your favorite artist over a good song by someone you don't typically go for, you're a silly, mindless, sheep of a fan.

In the end, I have to admit that a good song is a good song, assuming my most hated singer doesn't screw it up too much.

Definitely a good song from a hated singer or band. A few times, I've heard something from an artist I previously didn't like for whatever reason that made me pause and decide to give them another chance. This happened with Tori Amos and Joanna Newsom for me, and now I consider myself a fan of both.

A bad song from a favorite artist is horrible, though, since you wait a long time for a new song or album and it's really a letdown if it turns out to suck. For example, I used to be a HUGE Bjork fan, but her latest album "Volta" was a massive disappointment for me and I'm actually pretty pessimistic about where her music is heading now.

This happened with Rihanna. I really hate her voice, and most of the songs, but Disturbia for example is something very genius to me. Pretty cool. ^^ I still can't say that I'm going to become her fan. :p

I'd prefer a good song from a singer that I hate. Its because of those kinds of songs that make me like the singer. Koda Kumi being a good example. I used to hate her, now I love her.
