~A~ symbol looking like a Shrine Torii? :cool

I think it does KIND of look like a manji. But it also looks like an A and a torii, maybe the designer took inspiration.
After all in Asia the swastika/manji doesn't really have any negative connotations and it's a symbol of a peace in fact.
So maybe it is like...

Ayumi + Peace + Holiness = A symbol.

I think it just were something for the A single. I don't think there is a bit story about it ;)

SURREAL__RAINBOW 9th February 2009 12:24 PM

the A in the single A was the first A used as a logo lol

but the one we all know (the "A" that looks like japanese writting) was first time used in her single appears (10/12/1999)

I think the "A" symbol looks a little like tori'i. Maybe this is where she (or someone else) got the inspiration from?

Oh, I didn't see that someone already pointed out the tori'i resemblence. Sorry. ^^a

LOL and Melrose had to delete the "swastika" subject to stop embarrasing himself

LMFAO

I don't see a swastika on A symbol anyway it's something absurd.

Please remember that the swastika symbol derives from another greek symbol who rappresented the sun (it is differently oriented).

The swastika is the symbol of death, ignorance and the deepest black part of human soul so PLEASE let this symbol be buried forever.

Ayumi Hamasaki uses a symbol to represent her name. Usually, when typed, the symbols are just replaced with the letters A, M, and H. Ayumi Hamasaki - The first A. The first time she used a symbol for a title was her eleventh single
A. The strokes of the symbol represented the a-sides of the single - monochrome, Trauma, too late, and End roll. This is the only context that this symbol has only been used in, and she ceased to use this symbol after the invention of the second A.

i've always have this theory that the symbol is actually "A" and "H" joined together and designed in a Japanese manner, resembling the torii gate found in temples in shrine.

LONJJONG 2nd October 2015 08:42 AM

It was designed by Shinichi Hara :D
