That would help explain. :) It seems that obviously this isn't an inclusive list for all songs that have reached that status, but just those who in March qualified. It still seems to be missing some things though. There's also some weirdness for example that Remioromens 3/9 is listed as having come out on 2/14/2009 - even though that song has been out for download for years.

Ahh nevermind, I see all the ones that I was thinking should have qualified, already did so back in Jan. and Feb. :)

Well, its hard to say. You can look here and see the full monthly rankings for February: http://www.riaj.or.jp/data/others/chart/w090320_1.html

Rule was only #10 overall. The March list isn't out yet or at least I couldn't find it.

ayu_fan929 22nd April 2009 02:27 AM

imo, there's a certain level of hardness to getting Platinum for Chaku-Uta full

KarenPang 22nd April 2009 02:50 AM

that's really nice , it's good that she's doing well in terms of legal downloads :cool

waterballoon 22nd April 2009 03:02 AM

Why am I not surprised that Days got such a good record in downloads? ;)

TeeMo 22nd April 2009 03:09 AM

Congrats! Ayu!!!^^ I love Days!!^^

ayumisrael 22nd April 2009 03:19 AM

Usually most of the songs that sell well digitally are the chaku-uta ringtones (the 30-50 seconds parts), the hundred thousans/millions are mainly there.
For full songs it's usually hard to get platinum+ since most people are interested in ringtones and not the full songs (are cost more). Some popular songs don't even get gold in full songs.
But ayu's Days managed to get platinum there and Rule 100,000, that's really good!

Well since RIAJ counts mu-mo, music.jp, mora.jp, dwango and reco-choku into their weeklies, they probably count them in the certifications as well... Chaku-Uta isn't just one particular company...

But above the certifications on RIAJ's pages they write

chaku-uta (着うた(R)) and chaku-uta full (着うたフル(R)), if they would count the others too why would they write specifically chaku-uta and chaku-uta full?

Glad to see she's doing well digitally! Japan really loves "Days."

Yeah, Days has done pretty well (and deservedly so). It's at least more than she usually sells digitally. Still though, I'm glad that they don't combine the digital and physical charts because there are lots of artists that sell so high digitally, but not that well physically and if they were combined a lot of peoples favorites would be getting pushed even further down the charts. I don't want to have to see Juju or Yuusuke near the top of the yearly charts. :)

I don't know, I see several full songs that are gold, platinum, double/triple platinum, and multiple million sellers. But yes, it is more common to see the high digital sellers, not sell as high as you would think in physical sales.

yoshisbuddy 22nd April 2009 04:06 AM

Excellent!
I like Rule lots more these days, especially after seeing Dragonball Evolution

ayu_fan929 22nd April 2009 05:06 AM

^Yusuke is probably going to be on top of physical charts anyway...

Think about it this way: Chaku-Uta is like a mp3 format for cellphones.

I searched Ayu's site: http://avexnet.or.jp/ayu/jp/news/090220a.html
There's a bunch of different companies that sells Chaku-Utas i.e. mu-mo, Recochoku, dwango, music.jp etc.

It still has quite a ways to go for that. However, if they were to combine physical and digital sales he would be. Shuchushin (Yuusuke), Green, and Juju would be like dominating half the chart if they combined the physical and digital sales.

chloeM 22nd April 2009 05:32 AM

that's a lot of downloads... maybe the dragonball die hard fans like her songs too!

PoetGirl 22nd April 2009 05:38 AM
