Maybe for bluray they need to recording with special type of cameras and expensive edition tools, maybe we are talking about a big change from the beginning...costs that they are trying to postpone for now.
and DVD sell more than a br in this moment.

zyoeru 17th August 2009 05:05 AM

^ True, times are hard, how many people can shell out for a blue-ray player when DVDs are perfectly fine. XD

All that CGI in musical concerts totally make it worth it to release them in Blu-ray format..

yoshino 17th August 2009 08:24 AM

Blu-ray jus started not long ago so probably it isn't popular to release Ayu's stuff in Blu-ray? but I think no sooner or later Avex will release it, since it has alr done that for Namie's BF tour.

well, if you are used to super good quality on blueray, those DVD quality will be dissappointing to you.
but then again, blueray is still new in the market, at it's quite costly, so the craze might start like a year or 2 from now, with the price going down.

I used to work in an electronic store and we used blueray disc as demo for the tvs, it's awesome!

Playstation 3 has Blu-ray build in so it's not that unkommon for people, especially Japanese who very often are gamers, even if just casuals. Ayu Blu-rays would definitely convince me to exchange my PS2 to PS3.

exactly is still new and the majority of people are used to watching DVD quality
but idk thats just me ^_^

Well, all of ayus concerts in the last years were filmed in HD, every single one from AT03-04 on i think(ST02 was partly filmed in HD, but mixed with normal definition cameras), so i think she will soon release bluray and rerelease some old concerts on bluray(i mean, come on, even nana mizuki released concerts on bluray before and she sells like 15% of what ayu sells xD)

its true but japan is an expensive country .already in us a blu ray is 30$ for a brand new release in japan is 60 $ .

i think people know about it ( since all playstation 3 in the wolrd read blu ray) but just dont use it for the simple reason that their dvd is already HQ ( already higher than ours) so why buy blu ray? +dvd are way cheapper so .

PEARL 18th August 2009 09:36 AM

Maybe 10 years down the road there will be no more dvds and blu-ray will start.
& it would be an honour for Nana Mizuki , Namie and some other artiste for being the first few for their concerts being sold as blu-ray~

higher quality than which dvds? japanese dvds are higher resolution(really slightly higher only) but less pictures each second(which makes it quite a bit worse again) than for example american dvds

and the difference between bluray and dvd is giant, especially the definition difference(bluray is 1920x1080, dvd is something around 720x480) and more brilliant colors, if you ever watched a bluray you never want to watch a dvd again, NEVER

Insanity1240 18th August 2009 02:42 PM

LOL I've never seen a Bluray DVD =\
I didnt think it was worth it but noidea is making it sound pretty cool :P maybe I'll go to Best Buy and check it out :yes

true, blueray quality is just too awesome.
mark my words, i had been facing blueray disc for at least 1 year at my workplace, and already made me HATE VCD qualitys, i can still live with dvd, but i'll only start to get a little annoy when the camera angel is at the dark area, there's a lot of noise, blueray is so much clearer and sharper!

i'm only waiting for the blueray players' price to drop some more...

Just think about VCD and DVD, it may be easy to for u to compare^^
I belive that one day Blu-ray will step ahead n become the main disc being used =] It's a new era
Back to the topic, somehow I have a feeling that NEXT LEVEL will be released in both Blu-ray and DVD version, just like BF Tour of Namie.:yes

Really? I thought technology is quite cheap in contrast to the european market. Or is the US market even cheaper than Japan?

Blu-Ray quality is great, seriously.
I do think Avex will sell Blu-Rays of all their big artists soon. The economical situation isn't great at the moment, but if it gets better they'll sure begin to bring out Ayu Blu-Rays.

Namie pretty much is the biggest female performer at the moment next to ayu, so ayu will probably do it when namies bluray sells well

panda87 18th August 2009 09:38 PM

it matters to you? wow, high maintenance. i'm wondering too, but could care less. maybe when i become OCD about the quality and see the pores of my idols, i'll probably care.

but on a lighter note, maybe Avex doesn't want to jump into that marketing strategy yet and want to carefully go into it with the best release [ideas] because they actually consider the economic state of Japan... and other countries that have Ayu fans. seem logic? i think so. and so, someone else may come and differ, and lalala, it's a beautiful day.

gothicayu 18th August 2009 11:24 PM

i never said their dvd could compare to blu ray . true once you watch a blu ray you can't come back to dvd but some advice can upgrate your dvd to sightly higher quality.
personally i like blu ray better because its so sharp and detail you can see really everything +blu ray is most likely to have ore bonus and extra feature than a regular dvd.

since the HD dissapears its most likely that dvd will slowly dissapears too . especially if they keep lowering the price . now dvd are so cheap !
look at the vhs for exemple . it took a while but now it completly dissapears .

well i hope they will release her new tour on blu ray . that would be handsome .

I guess it'll come around eventually. Hopefully they'll release backwards.

This stereotype is somewhat wrong. Internet, for example, caught up in Japan years after most of the world. Digital cameras too.

Actually her concerts were shoot in HD from AT05(that was the first one)
and ST02 wasn't shoot in HD, they just mixed 16:9 aspect ratio and 4:3 that's why you were confused, but there wasn't HD camera
