No...what happened was her and her friends applied for an arts high school (I don't remember the type of school clearly). All of her friends passed and she was the only one that failed. So you can imagine how dejected and despondent she would have felt, so she spend her time singing karaoke in bars like Velferre, which is where she was discovered by Masato. :P

^ I think it was an acting school? She got in the second time she tried, but in the end quit because it was too uptight with all the rules and such. So yeah, Ayu has always been the rulebreaker. XD

I think she went to the same type of school (in tokyo sort of an show biz school) that among other kyoko went to . However Ayu didn't like it and skipped classes. She seemed to be someone who was lost and didn't expect anything from herself because no one else expected anything from her. In that way she was a "lost youth".

She was called a tomboy because she didn't like to wear make up maybe? All of this info is readily available in the translations of her early(er) interviews.

LOL. Yeah, in one of her early interviews she said that she got good grades until she decided that she didn't want to do something she didn't need to. :P
Plus she'd need to be academically bright in order to write such good lyrics...

probably didn't pass the exam or the test for u to pass the grade/level. in other words, it's not just a baby test... there are tests/exams that either make or break you in high school you know.


btw on the topic of ayu's grades:

during the Scholar!Nu idol video, she was asked "what are the subjects that you're poor at?" she literally listed everything from science, math, history, to english and everything in between! i can tell she really hates school. i forgot which subjects she said she was good at... but one was music.
