This is what I have always thought, until last night.
I ordered two CDs and a DVD yesterday. Just for the heck of it, I decided to directly compare CDJapan and Yesasia, since even though I was very hesitant to risk buying from Yesasia (since I've had problems from them before, and because so many people have problems receiving damaged goods), I'm not exactly rich right now and don't want to pay for the extra shipping at CDJapan. But every item I bought turned out to be a few more dollars expensive at Yesasia for each item. So much so, that even though the shipping at CDJapan was fifteen USD, it was still about five dollars cheaper to buy from there compared to Yesasia. Combine that with the awesome discounts you get from CDJapan (like frequent shopper points or any coupons you have), and you're getting a good bargain.
I mean, I knew Yesasia overpriced a lot of stuff compared to other stores, but dang. D: (I know I seem cheap, to make such a deal about ten or fifteen dollars, but... If you're broke like I am, that's another two day's worth of food you can afford, hah!) Unless you're buying more than five CDs at a time, go for CDJapan. They are guaranteed to be cheaper. (But if you're buying ten CDs in one order, than the shipping might equal out to be more.)

its like that?
that quite unfair for those who just pre-ordered >.<

yeah, i remember there was a long time before when i order an ayu cd very early and when the news came out that a poster is added, they jack up the price to cover for their free shipping.

but since i order super early, i got the cheaper price.

mobius 1st November 2009 03:33 PM

Just going to wait until the cheaper OS version comes out, sometimes they give out free poster too like the NL album I bought from YA.

weird. well i get the free shipping with YA and it turns out cheaper than CdJapan. for example:

4 Japan version CD-only singles from CdJapan w/shipping= $120
4 Japan version CD-only singles from YA w/free shipping= $52

less than half of the price of CdJapan. but of course their packaging isn't as great, but so far i haven't received anything damaged :D

KarenPang 1st November 2009 04:15 PM

yeah I wouldn't deny that YesAsia's good if you do bulk orders in escaping paying shipping fee as compared to CDJapan

it boils down to the individual at the end of the day & now that both sites's sales are counted towards Oricon , it's even better

SURREAL__RAINBOW 1st November 2009 08:24 PM

i'm sure cdjapan is gonna have posters too right? (I preordered in there...)

and ugh yesasia wont give my money back x__x they dont refund money, instead they keep it for you and u can use it in your next order, and if your first cancelled order was shipping free, they will take USD10 aprox. from the total you payed for :S

all happened bcose my parcel got lost and sent back to them... and they wanna charge me USD10 so they re-ship it... so either way, refund or shipped again, I will have to pay more!!!! WTF

ownsarai 1st November 2009 09:22 PM

I'm sticking with YA no matter what. I've never had any problems receiving my stuff in a timely manner and never had anything damaged. Plus free shipping. :)

luna7996 1st November 2009 10:02 PM

I always check with both cdjapan and yesasia before making the final decicion becuase depending on where u live and how many cds u order sometimes is cheaper in yesasia and sometimes it isnt. It also has to be noted that a friend of mine heard that when yesasia sends a poster they send it in another separate tub while cdjapan folds it up and sends it with the cd. Maybe thats why yesasia jack up the price. I need confirmetion on the poster tub info because if yesasia does send the poster in a tub and cdjapan doesnt then I am sticking with yesasia even with the extra charges.

i agree with you those poster are supposed to be free . that's a big increase of the price is quite ridiculous .
anyway yesasia always charge for poster , i dont know if you notice but all the posters they sells on the website taiwanese or chinese are the free posters that they get for the cd , they simply separate them and make more money that way .......

lacus ------> than yesasia is not honnest if ts" free" shiping but they extra charge to cover the shipping cost its not call "free" anymore...
this is not a good costumer service.

YA do send the poster in a tube separately. I got my Next Level poster in a rolled in a tube.

nanakopy87 2nd November 2009 01:01 AM

but i thought cdjapan send it using a big big box?i've seen their website saying that they rollit and put in into a big box to send to use and they don't fold the poster...it seems like the info they gave is wrong

truehappiness 2nd November 2009 01:31 AM

CDJapan does not fold their posters. From my experience, they just ship in a really really long box with the rolled up poster + CDs.

yesasia ships the poster in a separate tube, so you might end up getting your cd or the poster first, they hardly came at the same time.

cdjpan: no, they do not fold posters. They packed in a big box together with your cd.

hmv japan: cheapest with shipping out of all 3 sites, on the release date, there are times that they will drop the price for the cd and you pay the cheapest price, i had once saved around USD$10 on a kuu's BC cd.

but they will fold your poster.

Crystal_Ageha 2nd November 2009 07:51 PM

I'm really gonna have to try HMV sometime. They seem like they might be really good for me. And they only problem I ever hear about them is the poster thing, but I never get posters, so whatever.

Kagome-chan 2nd November 2009 10:02 PM

The poster should be free............

damn YesAsia..I hate them when they do something like that!

I pre-ordered it from CDJapan...I hope that they'll add the poster

kendelle 3rd November 2009 12:54 AM

I prefer to buy through CDJ early after the CDs are released and pay through PayPal funded by my bank card.

If the weight/shipping prices go up due to bonuses of the item being heavier than first announced, paying by PayPal means you don't get charged extra shipping ;)

When I ordered the DejiDeji I got upgraded to better shipping because the book exceeded the size for the cheapest shipping! :innocent:innocent:innocent:innocent:innocent

CDJ will definately add the poster+shipping for free if you've paid by PayPal through a bank card (not VISA etc)

nanakopy87 3rd November 2009 01:13 AM

wow...means we will get better deal if we use paypal :D
i almost wanted to pay via card but karen advised me to use paypal and i have to thank her alot :D
hmm, they won't e-mail you asking you to pay for the extra shipping fee?

LacusClyne 3rd November 2009 01:16 AM

^no i don't think so, i never got an email from cdjapan asking for more money

yeah you should but the downside's that they only take credit cards for payment & EMS's the only shipping option they have

also depending on the person , they fold posters in which to me I don't have a problem with it
