Well since I already ordered it, I now look at it this way: Eventhough she has asked us not to buy it, I think it still shows my appreciation for her music. I just want to have this, because it's hers and because I love the songs on it.

Sure she might not want fans to buy it if they don't want to, but if they DO want to have it, then I'm pretty sure she'd feel sort of flattered?

This does not equal "DO NOT BUY THIS AT ALL! PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS!"
It sounds more like "I wish that my fans wouldn't have the option to buy this"

Translation: Concerning the release of "Utada the Best" which was announced by Universal Japan, it has absolutely no relation to my own will, and their way to release it the same day as EMI's Utada Hikaru Best doesn't impress me much (or doesn't leave a good impression). To those who are considering to order it, please wait a little bit.

Nackar_91 24th October 2010 09:47 PM

Haha, so it's basically the Japanese branch of her English record label that did it to ride the wave of (probable) success for her Single Collection?

Bigtop 24th October 2010 10:11 PM

Some competition and/or conflict, apparently?

emi♡ 24th October 2010 10:24 PM

Awesome...I'm not gonna buy it.

Let them crash and burn with that release. It'll show them not to do things against her will.

But of course, people are still going to buy it, unless she goes on some campaign, which she wont....so meh.

Polyrhythm 24th October 2010 10:28 PM

Unless she goes on TV.....and does a big public announcement....or something....I think Universal is still going to get away with it.....theyre probably going to put SCVII and UtB next to each other in stores on the day of release....and people will probably pick up both....

jbrat2219 24th October 2010 11:12 PM

Wow that's sweet of her to speak out like that.

Wait a little bit before buying it or don't buy the album at all?

bluegie 24th October 2010 11:59 PM

^As Nackar has said, it's up to you whether you wanna buy this album or not. If you dun have any of her English album or if you wanna complete the collection, it's good to have one. Hikki won't think you as a bad person if you buy this. She is just concerned about her fans probly spending money on something that she didn't put her heart in (in this case, Universal JPN just takes the chance of SC2 to get some profits).

Well, I guess U3 can't alter decisions made by Universal Japan as much as they can with EMI Japan. Even hikki could not stop EMI (or Toshiba back in the old days) to release SC1 back in 2004. Hikki did say she didn't wanna release a best album but in the end she put her heart in buy writing something on the cover.

And for ayu's case. Well she did her protest buy shedding a tear on the cover, and resang 4 songs (can't remember exactly how was that related to the protest tho).

I get that its my choice and but I wanted to know what Utada's stance was; she says 'I don't want people to buy it' and then also says 'wait a little bit.' Wait a bit for what exactly? Regardless, I really appreciate her honesty about this. Others would just take the money and not care.

bluegie 25th October 2010 12:08 AM

hmmn.. probly she wanna stop the release? LOL That's why she told the fans to wait? :P. Or... maybe she decides to step up and change something in the english best (like, changing the cover, or remake the tracklist, etc?)

Ah I'm glad that I'm not into her English side, or else I will be confused for this UTB as well :).

freedreamer 25th October 2010 03:28 AM

I admire her for saying that...actually, to me, its quite bold..

AyUta 25th October 2010 03:38 AM

She's such an interesting person.

visionfactory 25th October 2010 03:45 AM

Ok I get the point but after all it was thanks to her label that she was able to release music in USA and other countries. It was not her but the label that put a lot of money on her first album and I don't think it did very well on the charts, therefore she should stop being a diva just one moment, she is just another artist for the label after all, she doesn't own the label, stop complaining and let them release Utada The Best properly.

emi♡ 25th October 2010 04:13 AM

^hikki is NOT like that.

Her music is her business, and it's personal. When she decides to release stuff, she'll release stuff.

She's not behind it, mostly likely, because she knows the label is just trying to milk her fans.

I'd be mad too. The label didn't risk huge losses with her first album. It was sold in Japan too.

bluegie 25th October 2010 05:00 AM

^^I can't believe you think hikki is a diva.

Among all the top Japan female artists, I think she's the least diva-type. If the label means everything to artists, does that mean they can release a best album for a particular artist every two years, even tho that artist probly just release 1 - 2 studio albums in that time length?

Besides, hikki's management team (or agency) is her father's company (u3music). That means she can release stuff whenever she wants to. I think the problem is that u3music doesn't have good communications with universal music. It seems that her father is surprised by the release of UTB as well.

Even I dun care about her English side, I think UTB's tracklist is cheap. It's like universal tries to combine her two albums and a bunch of remixes (as fillers), so that they can use SC2 to milk some profits.

It always amaze me when people fight for their right of expending money with crap...
Buy it if u wish, it's not like she can cancel this release...

Poor Hikki :<
Awesome how she's standing up against them. Hope she drops a comment about it on TV when she promotes SC2.
