Just a review from a biased, hard core fan.
01. We are the Queens - This song was EPIC to me when it came out, I wasn't really upset when I found out it was one of the five songs that was coming on the new mini album. When this song came out, I literally had it on loop for like at least a month or two straight. It was like my anthem, it was a song that really put me into an amazing mood. So when it came on to TROUBLE I was so excited. I give this song a 10/10 because this song was just amazing. Her vocal technique is amazing to me, she does things with her voice, and always has, that are unique to her. Things that I don't think any other singer can pull off and make it sound good. Her wow-wows are my absolute favorite part of this song. On top of this, this song has such a beautiful message. The music for this song is so unique to me too. It's unlike any other Ayu song I have heard.
02. ęternal - I'll admit, I didn't listen to any of the previous demo releases of this song. So when it came out, it was a fresh listen for me. The verses sounded very "Ayu" to me, and I didn't think I was gonna like this song at first. Like, I would like it, but it would be one of those songs that I would have to be in the mood to listen too. But, the chorus really got me. The rhythm of the lyrics made it a really good song to listen to for me. The lyrical content is VERY Ayu. The words, while beautiful, were not anything new to Ayu's lyrical content. So, that made the song kind of boring to me. But the melody is quite catchy. So I would rate this song at probably a 5/10, the beat is catchy but the verses are still very boring to me. The chorus to me, saves the song.
03. WORDS - I am not a big fan of ballads, even with Ayu, I never have been the hugest fan, but WORDS is another Pray for me. I love this song. The lyrics are beautiful and sad, her voice sounds amazing to me. Like ęternal, the catch for me the chorus, although the verses are not as boring in this song vs ęternal. This song is one of my favorites since probably about 2015, when her music kind of declined a bit for me. I wasn't upset at all, like with WATQ, that it was included in the new mini album (I do refuse to refer to this as an 'album'). This song, I give a higher rating than ęternal, at probably a 7/10, because I really do love this song, but since it's a slower song, I tend to skip over it when I'm tired and don't want to listen to slow songs.
04. W - HOLY BLANKING MOTHER BLANKING BLANK, I just can't with this song. I know it's been met with some distaste and while it's understandable, I am in love with this song. Like WATQ, it's unique to me. The chorus is fire. The message isn't really something Ayu does which also makes the song more enojyable for me, it's lyrics are very sexy little things, which i loved that song. But, the music itself is just OMFG I can't. a million/10 for this song. It's like my new jam.
05. The way i am - I tried so hard to like this song, the lyrics are wonderful. But, I can't. It's too slow. I don't even think I have gotten through it one time. It's probably my least favorite song on the album. I just can't get through it. I won't rate it because I haven't gotten through it. It wouldn't be fair to rate a song that I can't even sit all the way through.
Over all, I give this mini album a 6/10, even two EPIC songs can't bring it to the top for me. But, It's still an enjoyable release for me and I look forward to receiving my physical copies.
