Definitely isn't what I was expecting going on the title alone. Just glad isn't another boring ballad (really a ballad in general).

I agree totally.

I'm not a fan of the song per se but it's a nice change from the ballads.

Bigtop 11th July 2010 11:50 PM

At least it's not some long ballad stuff, or not even an over-five-minute song - THIS IS SUMMER TIME!!!

adantatu2 12th July 2010 05:41 AM

i like it, and thanks GOD, isn't another slow ballad

Kimi ga Iru PV:

Bigtop 20th July 2010 08:47 PM

Unfortunately, our timing predictions is not right again - it's another over-five-minute song...why is ikimono-gakari going much on the long-distance path like Ayu or Kobukuro? Ugh...

I don't know why about this, but their last five singles (going back to YELL/Joyful back on September of last year, just the YELL part - Joyful was not even three and a half minutes long!) the lead songs have been over five and a half minutes long - isn't that too long, especially for a summer single?

Okay, so three four anomalies:
  • Bad cover
  • Only one song, including the instrumental
  • Too long for a summer single - some 5:40 long?
  • Last five singles - including this single - has the lead song (or the only song, as the last and this single has been) that is over five-and-a-half-minutes long (Hotaru no Hikari, last summer single from last year, was less than four and a half minutes long; see the YELL/JOYFUL note above)

At least it's still upbeat, but it's too long for such a song that is being released out in the summer, like Ayu's MOON - that's 5:47 already; I think ikimono-gakari just reached that much far, which is a bit too far compared to her other summer singles, which are less than four and a half minutes long...

Bigtop, not trying to sound like I have anything against you, but you do some whacky research and you make a big deal out of everything!

Besides, those are hardly anomalies. They are no strangers to crappy covers and honestly, J-Pop has some of the longest singles I have ever heared. In a country where the whole idea of "radio edit" doesn't even exist I don't think 5:30 is THAT weird. Also, one song isn't that weird, especially not considering it's only 500 yen. It seems to be the latest trend.

adantatu2 21st July 2010 01:10 AM

i like the pv and now i'm loving the song

Bigtop 21st July 2010 02:19 AM

Well, the song doesn't sound weird, but it's just a bit too long...

QFT. the poor song is completely shredded into pieces by that post. so critical :irked

as for me, i don't love the song (they've had better upbeat songs) but it's catchy when i hear it some more. the PV was pretty cute, too. :P

Yoake 21st July 2010 02:37 PM

It's nice to see that it's not a sad ballad.
the pv is really original.

Seriously Bigtop, I prefer to hear a long song that a short as there are a lot now. & it's not long because the song is not boring. It's so cute.

Yum!Fruit_Salad! 21st July 2010 11:22 PM

I'm not even gonna bother with the post bigtop made so...

I agree with Lisa, they have way better upbeat songs but it does grow a little on you with more lsitens. My goodness, the PV is damn adorable! :heart I'm gonna be a on a screencap mission tonight

Bigtop 21st July 2010 11:42 PM

At least this is quite upbeat, for over five minutes... Eventually time will really go fast, and you won't realize that you've already wasted almost six minutes in your life just by listening that song...

Bigtop 4th August 2010 09:09 PM

First day sales are not so impressive...
Spoiler:
1st Day - 2010.08.04
Position: #6

Reference
  • #1: SMAP (Ugh, I hate those Johnny's sweeping both the album and single sales, while the "picture coming soon" sign indicates that the image is classified because of Johnny's regulations... I don't like it...)
  • What's the thing with #2 and #3? Umm...who are they?

I also have a request: Does anybody have scans for the singles "Arigatou" and "Kimi ga Iru"? I'm kind of interested for scans, but I haven't seen any yet...

Nackar_91 4th August 2010 09:39 PM

ikimonogakari has never had impressive first day or first week sales. Even their best sellers have relatively weak first weeks. Take Arigatou. It ended up selling more than twice its first week.

Besides, aside from Blue Bird, Yell/Joyful and Arigatou none of their singles have had amazing sales It's generally 40~50k. This seems to be something like that.

Bigtop 4th August 2010 11:43 PM

And when it is in competition with Johnny's boys, well they're not up to it for #1...

adantatu2 5th August 2010 01:37 AM

there aren't on this page yet
http://jpopcdcovers.wordpress.com/ca...ikimonogakari/

probably in the future

Bigtop 5th August 2010 03:04 AM

I hope so - and also the singles since "YELL/Joyful"...

Bigtop 9th August 2010 07:12 AM

Lost track of charts. Here's the situation:

Day 2: #6
Day 3: #4
Day 4: #5
Most recent - Day 5: #5

Weekly updates later mid-week.

Bigtop 9th August 2010 07:32 PM

Day 6: #5

I'm estimating that the weekly figures show that ikimono-gakari could get #5, just barely in the top five for the week, behind SMAP.
