What's your view on Misty?
It's a good album without gem. The songs I like the most are Love and The Bright Side. The only song I don't like is Fragile. The chorus of gentle rain reminds me Disney's songs a lot.

misty is a good album. I'm happy that she is back with something that remind me of her old songs.

Teppei-chan 13th December 2018 09:20 PM

Haven't listened to the whole album Just the first 5 sogs but I like what I heared. Like others said Theresa is No Song that I absolutely love but the Tracks are nice to listen to when you want Something playing in the Background.
Hope that I'll find the time to listen to the rest of the album asap.

Basically how I feel. I enjoy it, but it's definitely missing out on "wow" tracks. At least it's a good album; that's all I really needed it to be.

Hitomi will be releasing a new mini album on July 24th. Titled "brilliant", it will include six tracks in total.

<CD>
gentle rain (new version)
Amairo no Nagai Kami no Otome (new version)
CYCLE (new song)

<DVD A>
Hitomi Shimatani CROSSOVER ~Premium meets Premium~ Special guest Seiya Ueno

<DVD B>
gentle rain (MV)
New song (MV)

She will also be going on tour from August until December.

Yoake 24th May 2019 07:44 AM

I didn't expect to get a new release so fast from her. So she got interest in her music career back? Good.

ShiniTakashi 15th June 2019 02:16 AM

Just got a fanclub e-mail about her tour this year. It's titled "HITOMI SHIMATANI 20th ANNIVERSARY FINAL LIVE TOUR 2019". Does this mean she's going to be retiring from the music business? Or retiring just from touring? After Namie, I'm terrified of the possibilities.

EndOfTheWorld 15th June 2019 09:47 AM

It would be so sad to see Hitomi Shimatani retire.:(
I hate seeing my favorite artists from that era retire.

ShiniTakashi 15th June 2019 11:50 AM

I'm really hoping that I'm just overreacting and she means "this is the final tour for my 20th anniversary". Still...it's a poor choice of words.

If you’d like to copy and paste the email here I can take a look at it for you and see if it says anything about whether or not she intends to retire

ShiniTakashi 16th June 2019 01:56 AM

^ There's nothing about her retiring or anything in the FC news. It's just revealing information about the tour. I'm starting to assume it's just a poor use of words coupled with me overreacting.

So brilliant debuted with 1.4k and at #45 on the album chart. I believe it's her best charting and selling release in 5 years. She and her staff put real effort into this release, and it's nice to see it pay off.

Last year, Misty only reached #62 and sold 1.1k the first week btw.

I just heard the single on Spotify.

Brilliant Ways IS WOW!! So refreshing!!
gentle rain is also beautiful! Feels so nostalgic :) I actually never heard misty so this is nice

ShiniTakashi 9th August 2019 02:40 PM

Glad that this mini sold better than "misty", but wish she could at least sell 5,000 copies...She really deserves to be more popular than she is.

You should give "misty" a listen for sure! It didn't click with me right away, but I think it's a fabulous album now! Having only 10 tracks keeps it from having any duds, in my opinion.

lovethatkuu&ayu 9th August 2019 02:49 PM

The album actually charted a second week! Sold 300 copies, but sales are now at 1.7k+

If the upcoming promotions help and she breaks 2k, then that is a solid return for her at this point. Ai Otsuka for example, is averaging around 2.5k to 3k nowadays.

ShiniTakashi 28th August 2019 11:51 AM

^ That really is great! Do you know how it did on its third week?

lovethatkuu&ayu 28th August 2019 06:15 PM

^ I think it unfortunately fell off after the 2nd week. That said, it's still her most successful release in years. The tour seems to be doing well too. I hope it gives her and her staff incentive to stay on a normal cycle from now on.

ShiniTakashi 8th September 2019 08:55 AM

I've seen her live this year three times already, and will go to her CROSSOVER live in December! So excited, and I got a front row seat this time!

I hope she stays active too. 2013-2017 were really difficult years to be a fan of hers. She was releasing stuff, but still felt so inactive. I'm glad she's been milking her 20th anniversary for so long, and hope she keeps the momentum next year too. She seems to be having a bit more press recently, too.

HUGE NEWS

Hitomi will be leaving her management company of 20 years, which will also result in the closure of her fan club. In her message she mentions that she wants to devote herself entirely to music, so this is not a retirement announcement. However, there is no news on whether or not she will reopen a new fan club if she joins another management company. Services for her current fan club will end January 1st, 2020.
