I love the sound of Anata 🎵🎶

hayasaki 7th December 2017 11:41 PM

Best song Hikki has put out this year!! Anata sounds mature and classy yet not as basic as Oozora Dakishimete and flat as forever. lol I see she’s going to more chill music.

bluegie 8th December 2017 01:36 AM

It seems like she's heading to a more euro style music (probably I'm wrong). But I agree that Anata is the best song out of the three. I keep repeating the song for the last few hours :D.

Excited about new album. Cautious about live tour.
IMO both Ayu and Utada are terrible live singers.
Still I'm a sucker for lives.

bluegie 8th December 2017 05:27 AM

Judging from her tv lives last year, I think hikki improves a lot (compared to, let's say, HS era). Again, singing a few songs vs. the whole tour are two different things, so she may still be not very good (I wouldn't say suck) during live tour.

Most of her TV lives were surprisingly good (thank god!).
But somehow she can't maintain the same quality during concerts.
Also Ayu has a real show with dancers, etc, while Utada is just standing on a stage with no show and as far as I remember no band, so if she fails to deliver good vocals, well... it would suck to be someone who paid to see her live.

Maybe she was bored during concert lol. I remember she looked bored while singing BLUE during Wild Life :P.

there was a band...at least in WILD LIFE and I'm pretty certain UU2006 had one too

My mistake then. I watched her concerts several years ago.
Anyway my point was Utada offers very little besides herself.

OMG YES!!!

I liked Anata!

But I still prefer Forevermore out of the three.

I really really LOVE Utada's live shows. The fact that she delivers something different (aka not singing like the record) is a plus. And I feel like she gives so much, there are so many emotions... Haha I really really enjoy it.

roxaskh2fm 8th December 2017 02:05 PM

Actually Utada United 2006 is one of my favorite live DVDs ever.

I guess, but I really enjoy her. I'm not her biggest fan and she manages to sell the show even with as littler as herself. She is a singer/composer after all...not an idol or dancer

And I have no doubts her upcoming tour will be sold out.
I wonder how many shows she plans.

I believe she's had a live band in nearly all of her live concerts.

I love Utada's lives for the reason that what you see is what you get. Her arrangements are beautiful in a live setting.

Not Fade Away 9th December 2017 05:45 AM

^This. The live arrangements of Utada’s songs are simply amazing. I would point to Sakura Drops, Colors, and Devil Inside (UU 2006) as particular highlights for me.

Granted I’m very biased because Utada is my favorite J-pop artist, but I don’t recall any lives where she has been truly horrible. Even one of her most unstable lives, UU 2006, was pretty damn good all things considered with what she was dealing with at the time (vocal nodules and nearly losing her voice). I will admit that songs towards the end were very strained, but I still think she held out pretty well overall. She hit those ad-libbed vocal rifts in Hikari at the end smoothly when her voice was practically dead from nodules.

BLUE is too amazing of a song for that performance lol.

Even when her vocals are strained, she can be very engaging just by her emotion and passion. However, when that's not there it is kind of unfortunate. Never bad, but leaving you wanting a little more.

I'm so glad she has these plans right now. It feels good.

amorphose 10th December 2017 04:26 AM

I wonder what the odds of them adding a US/Euro leg to this tour are... I saw her nearly 8 years ago when she was in New York City for In The Flesh and I would be thrilled to see her again! If she goes the In The Flesh route and does small venues again, she can sell out no problem-- with or without new English material.

Has anyone seen this ?

Kingdom Hearts 3 has been in development for so long that people who were born when the first game of the series released are now in high school. Needless to say, whenever any news regarding the game comes out, fans tend to cling to it -- and what we're clinging to today is another hint about what we can expect from the upcoming installment to the long-running franchise.

Music producer Teruzane Utada, best known for leading the charge in support of his famous daughter Hikaru Utada, further teased the singer’s return to the franchise. When asked about whether or not new songs were in the works for Kingdom Hearts 3 on Twitter, the producer dropped a pretty big hint (link below).

https://twitter.com/u3music/status/938492807953620992

“I can’t say anything yet, but be positive,” he wrote, then promised that, "we won’t break your heart.”

That’s a pretty surefire response, and fans who have been following news around Hikaru Utada (who rose to fame in the 90’s as a powerhouse singer in Japan, then made the bridge to the U.S. market in the early 2000’s) know that the singer is planning a comeback album in 2018.

Tomorrow (technically today, if you’re in Japan) also marks the 20th anniversary of Hikaru Utada’s debut album. To celebrate, streaming services like Apple Music and Google Play are offering all of the singer’s discography for your listening pleasure, including her singles for Kingdom Hearts.

Kingdom Hearts 3 will follow the continued adventures of protagonist Sora, and is set to take place after the events of the 2012 Nintendo 3DS title, Dream Drop Distance. As of right now, the game is scheduled to release sometime next year for Playstation 4 and Xbox One, but no further details on exact release dates are available.
