^ Yeah, it's pretty inexplicable that the CDL or the Team Ayu tour hasn't been released at least. Only thing I can think of is massive boxset next year or a blitz of releases one right after the other.

HilaryDuffFanboy 7th December 2017 11:37 PM

The sad thing is, no one is going to care about her 20th anniversary with Namie retiring in September 2018 and going on one of the largest dome tours from Februrary to June.

truehappiness 8th December 2017 12:14 AM

Honestly, it'll probably be a whimper of a 20th (IMO the 10th wasn't as "good" as the 15th), but she can always really ramp up the 25th, I guess?

EndOfTheWorld 8th December 2017 12:38 AM

I don't think Namie Amuro would make a difference either way. I don't think the public is anticipating Ayu's 20th anniversary. They probably don't realize it is even coming up next year. It's going to be for the fans more than anything.

Yea thats what Ive been thinking and this morning I saw Utada Hikaru announced new album and will start touring again in 2018 after 12 years. Everyone is plotting against Ayu’s 20th anniversarry??? LOOL too much overshadowing her that maybe Ayu’s 20th anniversarry is going to be underwhelming unless her staffs did a good job promoting , meh

truehappiness 8th December 2017 01:04 AM

Knowing them, all they will probably have planned besides a tour is a 20th anni single and maybe an album. I would not hold my breath for anything big but at the same time it's just her very relaxed state overall besides touring that makes it impossible to think she'll do anything big for the anniversary.

Andrenekoi 8th December 2017 02:50 AM

What do you guys expect? Releasing a big album nobody will buy and announcing a dome tour she can't sell out?

Thanks for writing about Utada, totally missed the news!
As for Ayu, general public doesn't even know she's still active, so they couldn't care less about her anniversary thing regardless of other artists' schedule.
It's fans who care.

truehappiness 8th December 2017 04:00 AM

Well, that is what the promotion is for.

Maybe Just the beginning is meant to tell us that things will be 'reborn' with the sacrifice and probably the 'resurrection' after this.

You're way too optimistic :-p
As far as I can see, she's been losing her fanbase. I doubt it'll change.
Some arena shows were a stretch.

HAHA IKR? when I saw the news, I was like...okay, there goes any exclusive attention for Ayu's 20th anniversary. But I think she really doesnt care much now.

I sadly don´t think her ear will make to her 25th Anniversary :/
At least if she continues with this much concerts like she has done over the past 3 years.

Mao Asada collaborated with "million singer"
https://www.oricon.co.jp/news/2101910/full/

some say it might be ayu

tokyoxjapanxfan 8th December 2017 09:03 AM

Unless Avex were to really pull out some big promotional tie ins, and get huge billboards and tv appearances, I doubt any hype will happen.

At this point, a smaller, intimate "thank you" tour could be really great.

This current tour is trying to be large scale on a small scale budget. I think if she continues to do these smaller venues, An "unplugged" tour would be fantastic. Without any big over the top anything.

She rarely gives us top quality (I.e. Fleshed out, completed concepts) anymore. I don't think it's intentional but her themes have been all over the place. And her tours have been copy and paste and copy and copy.

Despite still going to every tour, I can't say I'm as excited as I used to be. Because empty promises or missed opportunities seem to be a very common thing for her now...

I wish she'd get back a team that believes in her, or pushes her. Because her own ideas don't seem to be pushing any boundaries anymore.

I believe she -can- give us greatness, but for one reason or another she's not.
And her *rumored* diva-ness and apparent bad attitude at her past two tv variety shows certainly didn't win her any favor. (Apparently she refused to do certain requests from the comedian guests and stalled filming and required them to rent out a pent house suite at a nearby hotel just to have for her standby time and stuff...)

So there's my semi-rant lol.

eh, never knew/red bout this? really??? :shakehead

tokyoxjapanxfan 8th December 2017 09:26 AM

^ just rumors/gossip from "inside sources"

It could very well be untrue, but rumors hurt popularity as well.

*its long been rumored that she got -very- angry at a staff for stepping on one of her many dogs that she brings to set tails...

truehappiness 8th December 2017 09:29 AM

Rumors always follow her around. How many times has she had an abortion according to them? I do feel though that allowing them to fester is just as bad as anything else however. No visibility and no releases of any sort on the horizon on top of no promotion doesn't really make for healthy release conditions.

It goes back to the interview she did about not really wanting to push herself as hard as she did before because she was really trying hard to do this or that or be different with every release. She still has it in her no doubt but I think she has to want to do it for it to happen again.

This whole thing basically.

I think she could still probably do something for Xmas if she really wanted to. She's done random surprise releases in the past but never this close to the wire, I suppose. Zutto was announced the month before that Xmas eve?

truehappiness 8th December 2017 09:32 AM

Would not be surprised if she was doing like, NEXT LEVEL or something.

tokyoxjapanxfan 8th December 2017 09:33 AM

Oh wow, that's very possible.

Mao has said several times in the past that she loves Ayu and listens to her while practicing.
