They're coming to my city, but I don't like metal music T_T so disappointed that the only japanese bands that come here i dont like :'( I tried getting into them just so i could go but no...

Yumsushi 6th December 2011 11:17 PM

They're playing Toronto next week. I'm probably not going to go. I haven't grown to love the album since its been out so I won't enjoy the show. They honestly don't deserve my money this time around. But if they play Kodou and I don't go Ill cry!

JackieRos 7th December 2011 02:35 AM

Uroboros and this recent album has been the only ones that I hated out of all their discography. I literary hate every track because all he does is scream.

I love metal and all of that jazz but no I can't like these 2 albums at all.

ownsarai 7th December 2011 07:14 AM

A few friends of mine were at the Dallas show last night and said it was great. One of my friends got this AWESOME picture of Kyo for me, all close and everything. She rocks. :yes

Yumsushi 17th December 2011 07:38 PM

Damn it they did play Kodou afterall! The one time in like 7 years of NA touring I don't see them, they finally play my favourite song! &*^%#!

kumiko.koda 5th January 2012 05:41 PM

I have attended one of there concerts in germany in 2009 and it was awesome

my boyfriend has catched me one of those guitar picks they throw into the audience :luv2

Has anyone been keeping up with them lately? Apparently they cancelled the tshows from March through April because a physician has told Kyo he needs to rest his vocal chords. Poor guy. He screams his heart out to the point of screwing up his pipes. I hope he does take it easy though. Let's hope for a speedy recovery!

Chibi-Chan 23rd May 2012 09:18 PM

I want them to come to Germany again! Haven't seen them in a long time and I want to do a Kyo Cosplay!

Maemi 23rd May 2012 09:33 PM

Unfortunately I don't keep up with them anymore, but...

On August 1, Dir en Grey released an open letter on their official Facebook that accuses the Japanese government of lying to its people and hiding the true danger of the radiation levels after the nuclear accidents caused by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. In October the band launched a campaign called Scream for the Truth, complete with a website and billboards hanging in Times Square in New York City, in hopes of stopping the lies and getting correct information.

susiowong 24th May 2012 01:43 AM

^ Oh yeah, I don't hear much about Scream for the Truth anymore. I remember getting a flyer for it at the LA show last year and that was the last of it.

I didn't see much point in putting up a billboard in Times Square; nobody's gonna know what it is unless you're a fan, but it's still cool.

I was a bit disappointed by this because I was looking forward to the Seattle show, but I hope him the best of recovery too. They need a break anyway. :)

I know this post is a million years old, but I have to agree with you. I'm glad it's not just me, because everyone seems to love their new stuff and say crap like "get used to it" in regards to their new style of music, but I think it flat-out sucks. They've become the same screaming metal music that I've always hated, and I can't pretend to like it just because I thought they were great up until Vulgar or so.

susiowong 20th August 2012 09:17 PM

And not to mention a new tour, I believe starting in October? I'm so happy to hear they're back. :D I wonder if there'll be any changes in Kyo's ability to sing.

paper_doll 21st August 2012 01:31 AM

Very glad to see them back, as well! Wonder what they're going to come up with this time.

Going on the album discussion, I think they really peaked with VULGAR. I love Withering to death and initially liked Marrow, but that album didn't age well for me. Uroboros had some really cool tracks, but I still skip like half the album. DSS was a mild train wreck. It just feels loud for the sake of being loud.

susiowong 21st August 2012 03:01 AM

For myself personally, the only album I don't like is Guaze. I mean, there are a few great songs on there, but I don't like most of the songs. Macabre was okay, I like about 50% of the songs on there. Kisou is where they really take off, imo, and I've loved every album thereafter, with Uroboros being the epitome (DSS was first for a while, but in the long run it didn't live up to Uroboros). I'm not surprised a lot of people don't like their material after The Marrow of a Bone, though. But it's good for people like me who have always liked that kind of music. :)

I'm not gonna lie, Dum Spiro Spero was hard to digest the first time. A lot of it just flew right over my head. But I grew to like most of the songs on there, and there are a few I absolutely love (The Blossoming Beelzebub, Yokusou ni DREAMBOX..., etc.) The only thing I HATE about this album is the general sound (the mixing?). I remember reading Tue Madsen did the mixing? Well, whatever it is he did to it, I don't like it. He did the same to the re-release of Uroboros.

Oh, and I was excited when I found out the LA concert I went to got on their Overseas DVD. That night was epic, the most energetic and craziest stage performance I'd ever seen irl.

Can't agree more! I mean, "Withering to death." was amazing and "The Marrow of a Bone" was ok, I thought. But I can't stand this growling. And don't forget they were VERY AMAZING!!! live - but today they all look like if they were thinking "when can I go home?".

JackieRos 23rd August 2012 01:27 AM

I love marrow of a bone and is one of my favorite albums but
After that I totally hate their recent albums.

Like I said I love metal but I can't stand uro and dum.

Leaf King 23rd August 2012 02:51 AM

I'm always surprised when people express their dislike for Uroboros and DSS. For me, these two albums are the best two things that have happened to music in recent years.

This staggering track that could purify even the deepest of resentments is finally here.

Since the release of their 8th album "DUM SPIRO SPERO," the band went into hiatus following a vigorous touring schedule in Japan and abroad, and now a year and a half since their last single release, they are back with "RINKAKU" which will hit stores this December 19, 2012.

The track is unlike anything you have heard before, almost overturning the band's musical concept on a new scale, coming in with a range full of depth with Kyo's vocals that evoke classical elements in this beautiful and intricate melodic track which builds up dramatically with the intertwining guitars and bass. "RINKAKU" mixed by an internationally acclaimed engineer has turned out to be an inimitable track with an intense sound.
Yes.

edit: Wait. Let me guess. The "internationally acclaimed engineer" is Tue Madsen again.
