^:yes

It's an excellent song so I'm glad she used it to make Kiss & Cry!!
I also think it's cool how it goes Tippy Toe + Hotel Lobby - I don't know but those songs somehow are like the twins of the album for me :D

Did u try dailymotion?

I think we've just seen a few photos of Passion (making of). I still dun understand why kiriya (or hikki or Toshiba) didn't include the making of..

2. Hmm. I think the lyrics fit the music.. But maybe that's just me. IMO Passion isn't an upbeat/happy song at all lol.

3. And yea I know about Ayu's recut songs, but they're all remixes and PoL isn't. ^^ Though I kinda forget about the quiet version on the single so forget about that hehe~

4. Actually it's not too hard, IMO. Just grab a grammar, verb and words book and start translating? XD I can pretty much translate songs. It's funny how some words have more meanings, and it can mean something entirely different from the translation.

1. I think it's just the personal preferences for the Japanese artists to write their name in the alphabets. For artists like ayu or ai-chan, they want to write it in the proper English way (first name then last name). For hikki and kuu, I think they just turn their names into romanji.

3. It doesn't really matter whether the songs are remixed or not. As long as they are released after the album, the songs are classified as recuts. Oh mind you First Love wasn't remixed either :P (of course you know hehe.. jk jk)

2 & 4. Emmn, it's not about translation. It's more likely about the construction of the sentences. Let's say:
a) He has fallen into dirts;
b) He broke his wings and sank into darkness.

Those two sentences describing a boy is entering a wrong path, destroying himself blah blah. But with different words and constructions, the feelings could be so different. I know that some of us can grab a Japanese dictionary and translate the lyrics into English. But probly the feeling of particular words have already lost during the process of translation. Also, let's say there are more than a few characters for "flower" in Japanese (I'm just making example.. I dun even know if there're more than one words for flowers in Japanese), but probly one or two of them are prettier in writings, while the remainders are slang/not that good to be used in poetic way. When we translate it into English, it is just "flower" anywayz. We dunno if the artist wrote it in a good or bad way unless we really understand the language.

They are, and they're my two favorites. Hotel Lobby has to be one of Hikki's best songs EVER.

Amai Yume 18th June 2008 12:03 AM

Okk, glad I wasn't the only one who saw them as twins :)
Hotel Lobby ROCKS!!!

1. Okay cool ^^

3. Whatever sells, ey ^.^b

2 & 4. Hmm I see your point. Passion is "b", right? Using metaphors and such to describe things? I prefer more sober lyrics. I can relate more easily to "she felt hurt" than "she felt a shade of gray crawl up her mental spine". You know? :P What do you prefer? Edit: I checked out the lyrics and seem pretty sober, actually. I don't really think the lyrics are that great (as I skimmed through it quickly at 1:25 AM lol), but I still love the song. XD

bluegie 18th June 2008 01:26 AM

I dun really know if Passion is a or b LOL. I was just using that as an example :P. We know what the lyric means, while the Japanese could see the construction of the lyrics (probly more surreal than we thought). I guess they're thrown off by the weirdness of the sad lyric + the strong beat of music in the end... :D

lol but sometimes the reverse effect can happen in that you can come up with the lyrics of the song 1st & then the melody/music or the opposite isn't it ?

IMO, the whole song sounds sad. @_@ Everytime I listen to it, it that sad feeling from it. You guys didn't feel the same way????

....and Yay! HS/POL is still hanging on strong despite the new releases. HS is @ 21 amd POL is @ 24. I hope the last eppy of LF is epic. :yes

^ I have to agree with you Luv. Passion always gave me a sad feeling, especially when I first heard it. But I think 'Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro' is the saddest Hikki song. It's actually made me cry a little a few times.

haikudasai 18th June 2008 06:17 PM

I finally gave Heart Station (DJ Amaya 2008 Angel at Dawn Remix) and love it :]

Yepp, that and FINAL DISTANCE are the two saddest Hikki songs, IMO. They're both so good.

Luv ~Venus~ 18th June 2008 06:35 PM

^I agree with you and Ayulover. :yes I think FD is by far her saddest song. The way it starts just makes u wanna cry. I belivee I cried to it a couple of times. :think The PV made it even sadder. :laugh It was so gloomy and depressing. :weep Kiriya really gave that PV emotion.

CHE.R.RY 18th June 2008 06:38 PM

^ Oh wow, I forgot all about 'Final Distance', but yeah that's another sad one. It's never made me cry, but it does give me a somber feeling.

Amai Yume 18th June 2008 07:21 PM

Hikki songs that have made me cry:

Deep River
Flavor Of Life -Ballad Version-
Hikari [not crying but it's like that feeling of such happiness that it feels like you might cry]

CHE.R.RY 18th June 2008 07:28 PM

There's only been two songs that have made me cry:

Dareka no Negai ga Kanau Koro (as I said)
Stay Gold (I have no idea why but something about the piano melody really touched me.)

Amai Yume 18th June 2008 07:34 PM

Stay Gold is really pretty so I can see why it would make you cry. IMO, Hikki doesn't really have the songs that can make you cry...which is kind of a shame :(

Hanabi_surreal 18th June 2008 07:35 PM

the Utada songs that makes me cry are:

FINAL DISTANCE
Be my last

the memories are bad friends XD

Hikari made me cry also, when I watched her sing it live... at some concert. :think

Be my last, definitely! Especially if you speak Japanese, the lyrics really get me every time.
