They shouldn't treat Ayu like crap, obviously, but I don't know... Ayu's "whatever" responses all the time to even sensible and polite critique is really alienating. There's a line between doing what you want and coming across as not caring about your fanbase.

Without a fanbase, you're nothing. I don't think Ayu quite realises that, or if she does, it's probably come on very strongly over the past year or so.

Well, if she focuses too much on her fanbase's wishes, again, we will get mostly repeated releases with a new name... And we can't really forget some of her most loved works were also some of her most unexpected^^

Nothing wrong with experimenting, of course, but the problem with Party Queen fuss (in my opinion, anyway) is that aside from Eyes, Smoke, Magic and the next Love (which have equal parts love and hate), nothing on Party Queen is anything out of the ordinary for Ayu. So why are people acting like it's the end of the world? lol

It's like... we got this really trashy concept on the cover and titles, some loved that, some hated it. Then, at the end of it though, the album is just typical Ayu songs. Regardless of whether you think the concept was good, bad, well executed, an excuse for sales blah blah blah, that all becomes irrelevant because it's the same stuff she's always done, dressed up with a more polarising concept that is really detracting from how... ordinary the album is. Is it's "ordinariness" good or bad? Depends on what you like, I guess.

And, like always, rather than address any of it, Ayu is just there like "IT'S THE BEST THING EVER. KAY GUYS NO COMPLAINTS!" (or in this case, Timmy is saying it). Anybody who "doesn't get it" is seen as "well it's your fault", rather than a fault of the product which... you know... even if you "get it", it is IS a valid to say the product isn't doing it's job well. It doesn't matter if you hang onto her every word, or you only see her ass on the truck, a product needs to cater to both of these equally, and Ayu doesn't seem to be considering either, imo.

I just don't get anything anymore. :S Not even sure what my point is here lol lol

Hahahaha... About her saying it's her best work ever... She is hyped by had finished her own new work, a work that better conveys who she is at the moment she done it and that reflects the better her state of mind.

About people complaining... it's not like she can record a new album and released it on the next month to please those fans, or release a new single so people who disliked the era can have something to hold to them...

She can only release the best she thinks she can produce and deal with it's result without killing stuff before the right time until she gets something that is an instant hit. Even if people complains to her, I can't figure out anything she can do to please those people... even a "Sorry, I will do better next time" will just serve as a confirmation the work is not that good and kill it to the part of her fanbase who actually got into it. She will get the album feedback either way... being it from sales or reception while performing it live, and sooner or later there will be new releases, so, I sincerelly don't see the point on complaing direct to her on social media.

But I do believe her fanbase tend to overreact... I can't even count how many times I read "Omg! Ayu sux so much right now, she lost her touch! I don't like anything she did since *insert anything she released on less than 6 months before*". Girl releases an album every year, even more than that sometimes... If u disliked something, just wait until the current era is over...

About Party Queen... from my experience, everytime she wants to focus an album on the lyrics, that album comes filled with soft rock and softer ballad tracks... This works for PQ, RNRC, MS... Those tend to be her most personal albums and she probably does that cuz this way the whole musical production doesn't get more attention to what she is trying to say... Still, songs like Nanana, Shake it, the next LOVE, ESM and to some extent Call, Letter, Party queen and Tell me why aren't really common on her discography... 8 of 11 full tracks...

Love Songs cover was the tamest thing ever, and this never made the album sell millions... this just makes no sense... If her career starts being focused on what people who aren't her fans wants, she is going to release albums filled with only variations on her summer singles, winter singles and concerts ending songs...

I'd be happy with this until the end of eternity.

I'd rather her continue with stuff I know she's good at, rather then experiment and churn out tunes like the next LOVE and Eyes, Smoke, Magic. There could never be enough winter ballad singles by Ayu and I miss the good concert enders.

Finally, someone agrees with me!:D
Bring on the winter ballads, Ayu!

RayJason 12th April 2012 10:25 PM

She should release a winter ballad in June and a feisty hot summer single in November!

Delicious n Bold 12th April 2012 10:27 PM

^Now there's an idea worth paying for.
It'd be the perfect way to start off the summer :P
And then when you expect Ayu to get all sappy in December, she brings out an INSPIRE-like song and BAM.

Her fanbase attacked her by far less...

She probably knew ahead of time that there's a bunch of people who think of themselves as fans who would treat her accordingly to how well they like her work. Praising her when they get what they want, and throwing tantrums when they don't.

I just respect her willingness to take the risk to try new things. I don't believe she's ever been known do do the same old same old. She's gonna keep changing and expressing her feelings through her music, and I believe she is well accustomed to scrutiny and could care a less.

Why sculpt your art around the preferences of the people who view it? Rather, sculpting it how you like, and waiting for the people who actually appreciate it to come and see.

I think she knew how PQ would be perceived.

It's impossible to please everyone.

Wow... You know you've been out of the Ayu loop for a long time when you don't know half these song titles or don't remember tours (i.e. it was said that the screens are similar to AT10, I don't even remember what tour that was).

Anyway, I like the outfits. Ayu's still got it, it seems. XD Can't wait to hear her vocals! ;)

AT10 is R'n'R and let me tell you, I just watched it recently high-def 1080p blu-ray on my hi-def tv and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Best. Tour. Ever. It was the first tour where I was almost more excited for the interlude acts than the performances by Ayu! Not to say the performances were bad - they were amazing. But the interlude performances were genius! It really was like some sort of futuristic Circus show!

Does she actually reply 'whatever' on twitter?

truehappiness 13th April 2012 06:00 AM

I think they are implying that her "I am going to keep doing what I want to do."-type responses that she has sometimes are like "Whatever." but IMO, she's just doing what she wants to do. As much as people may complain about the direction of her career directly to her, I don't think she will ever change her mind based on how someone else feels about her work. It'd be out of character for her to change simply because some fan(s) don't approve of what she's doing.

With that said, can anyone actually find one of those responses from her on Twitter? I do know she's mentioned being open for critique and sometimes even replied personally to those who have had a problem with her but I'm not sure what relmy is talking about specifically.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 13th April 2012 06:32 AM

ayu is very stubborn, she would never change her direction because a few people don't like it :laugh If she can perform being injured and seem like nothing's happening, I highly doubt she's ever gonna change what she has in mind because of others :shrug

HilaryDuffFanboy 13th April 2012 08:29 AM

She's an artist. She does not produce music that has to meet service level agreements each financial year or anything like that. If you don't like what you see or hear, move on. If you are upset she doesn't produce quality music that resembles her older work, go listen to her older albums.

Deep snow 13th April 2012 09:12 AM

I forgot to say this, her encore hair looks awesome. I miss her having long hair.

I don't see much logic in her releases 2010-2012 to be honest
like, I cannot really feel or understand wtf is she doing..
earlier I used to get every release and 'concepts', but now it all like passes by
