You can get some official KTV instrumentals sometimes but not always :/

From preview only, if compare it with second single from Muse as Wandering Poet, WP is better and more freshness. i think she often plays safe with her ballad.

I agree, Wondering Poet is one of her best ballads ever. Yeah, many of her ballads are generic but this new track sounds promising.

Tom Punks 6th November 2014 04:56 PM

I don't even remember what Wandering Poet sounds like lol. Almost all her ballads are interchangeable honestly. I only like the ones from Castle and maybe a couple from Magic. And Mosaic. Mosaic is my jam.

One thing I really liked about Myself was the lack of generic cpop ballads. It made it feel like an actual album, and not just a couple upbeat songs that I like and then half an album of ballads I can't tell apart and will never listen to again. They honestly do 0 for me.

You do have a point here. Okay, she still has some beautiful ballads but a lot of them are so boring.

pommy48 6th November 2014 05:20 PM

But didn't Myself not do as well on the charts?

I do love that album for the lack of ballads, but I guess the general population doesn't >__>

Ugh, I hate that most Cpop albums are half-interesting, half-ballads

I agree. I don't really like Jolin's ballads tbh, they're usually so boring. The ones I enjoy however are Sky, Missing you and Nothing Left to Say.

It kinda flopped lol MUSE sold twice more than Myself in Taiwan only.
That's why she came back in 2012 with a "half-ballads/half-upbeat songs" album.

About MUSE, on baidu Color Photos was their favorite track, and IMO it's by far the most bland song of this album. I think that says a lot...
And recently on MUSE's "anniversary" in September, the fanclub conducted a survey and asked people which song was their favorite. Quite a lot -most of them if I remember well in the end- chose a ballad.

As for me I enjoy most of her ballads, but I have to admit that most of my favorites are from her Sony era.

Surreal17 6th November 2014 05:57 PM

I'm one of those fans that like Color Photos lol
In fact I like all Muse album (although she could have put a little more effort into the ballads like she put into Wondering Poet).

Oops, sorry :(
My favorite ballad from MUSE is Mosaic, by far. So I was glad to see that JJ Lin wrote Third Party.
"I" is very nice too. I enjoy it because of the MV and its lyrics, they're very personal. If I remember well most fans on the survey chose "I".
Actually I like all songs from MUSE too except for Color Photos XD It's not bad but I think it's the weakest track and the most "classic C-Pop ballad" sounding.

XD :roflmao
Don't worry, I admit it's a bit weak but I have a personal attachement to it as it came out in the period I became a Jolin fan.
I really hope for another track as "Spying On You Behind The Fence", that was awesome.

Yeah, this is so unfortunate. Myself is my absolutely favourite album from Jolin, it's a shame.
Though I really, really like MUSE as well, I like most of the ballads.
So if Play is similar, I'm alright with it.

Oh!

I can't wait for this release to be honest. I think we'll get the tracklist soon because on Sunday there's a private event where fans will be able to listen to the full album.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 6th November 2014 06:31 PM

I like play a lot, and the only other song I've heard from her is honey trap...does she have any other really good upbeat EDM tracks?

EDM??? Feels weird to read that because Honey Trap & PLAY are not EDM to me lol
Anyway no she does not... But if you want upbeat Jolin songs, just listen to Myself World Tour Live. Most of her best upbeat songs are there.

Ohhh, those fans are really lucky! Sometimes, I'm just sad that I'm so far away from all the artists I love. No access to concerts, to live tv shows, to special events etc. :dead2
