^Wow, that's really an excellent performance. Love her voice in it *_*

^That's cool! My sister is not interested in J-Pop at all and probably think it's cheesy and can't understand why I listen to it lol.
I remember she had to borrow my laptop for an exam and I had a Feel The Love/Merry-go-round wallpaper on it and she was hoping no one would ask her who Ayumi Hamasaki is haha. Speaking of live performances, I had no idea Ayu covered an English song (well apart from Someday My Prince Will Come) before: I think I really need to look up some more AyuReady performances! |
She's also kinda done White Christmas among a few others. I think she did L-O-V-E at one point.
|
Cool, I will have to look them up...well maybe I'll save White Christmas for now!
I also really loved the ballad medley from CDL 15-16. Not usually a fan of medleys but the combination of these songs are just perfect! And there's something just so comforting and relaxing about it to me: |
^ unfortunately, with the worst vocals ever.
|
yeah it's not her worst but it's not good at all her voice cracked a lot and seems to have problem with her ear monitor ... sometime I wish she understand she really need rest with her voice because we really hear that her voice is tired and it's unfortunate !
|
Despite how her vocals have been during the Tour (which is anyway justified), I remembered that performance to be much better. I guess it's more or less the effect a book (or better, a certain part of that book) makes when read for the second time.
|
I believe she was sick during CDL... She was never a great singer, but the problems she had on her singing during the broadcast aren't her usual ones.

Anyway, between the pneumonia she got some months earlier (about which I couldn't get much information), all she worked during the year and travelling in Taiwan in the middle of rehearsal for shooting "Winter diary", it wouldn't be all this surprising if she caught a flu or something. I didn't exactly think about it, but as I said her vocals' quality was justified. |

Speaking of her voice I am wondering since a long time anyone knows what happened to her between the beginning of 2007 and the release of Talking to myself ?? in this short period of time her voice completely changed she won in depth but lost the sweetness of the past ? Has it at been reported that she might have a problem with her vocal chords back then ? Quote:

Yes I thought of that but is it possible that a deafness can alter the sound of your voice ? I can totally understand the difficulties to stay on pitch being caused by deafness but to change the tone of the voice I really wonder ?

I ordered and finally received a physical copy of A Song for XX two days ago. Honestly, I think it's my favorite album by her (besides for GUILTY). It's not perfect and yes, she is screechy at some points. However, the oldness of the music and raw emotion in Ayu's voice is just so endearing! I love old J-Pop so, so, so much... (Some of my other favorite non-Ayu albums are TWO-MIX's Dream Tactix and globe's first album.)
POWDER SNOW is one of my favorite Ayu songs. And like whoa, SIGNAL anyone? PS: I'm ordering Ayu's first Eurobeat album this Friday! |
^ It actually took me a while to appreciate A Song for XX. I was listening to it on shuffle the other day and came to realize that I like most of the tracks. Her vocals, obviously, weren't amazing but I enjoy the album as a whole nowadays. POWDER SNOW, A Song for XX, Depend on you, Wishing, and For My Dear are my favorite tracks.

I love live version of For My Dear from PCDL 08-09!
