Bottom of the dead Valley?!
I love that song.

Yumsushi 3rd March 2013 05:50 AM

I wish they'd stop redoing their old stuff. Other than Agitated screams of maggots, I have never loved a rerecording over the original.

Chibi-Chan 3rd March 2013 08:10 AM

I love their old stuff and can't stand her newer songs because of Kyo growling all the time. So I bet the rerecordings will be horrible for me. But Rinkaku was amazing! ^-^

susiowong 7th March 2013 09:16 PM

I'm SUPER excited for the remake of KARMA. And it's about time THE FINAL got a makeover because I'm sick to death of that song. But I'm a little worried about what they might do with -karasu- and Bottom of the death valley... I love the originals too much, and the remakes guarantee I'll never get the slim chance of hearing the old versions live.

I think they should have done a remake of Mazohyst of Decadence.

paper_doll 8th March 2013 03:22 AM

Mazohyst actually would be a good one to remake. Like, I never got into it but it has so much potential for being really cool. There's always been something about it I don't enjoy.

:eh: Your ears betray you. Hydra -666- is the most amazing rerecording, ever.

Has anyone listened to the mini yet? I'm scared...

Chibi-Chan 4th April 2013 08:32 PM

I coudn't forgive what the guys did to "OBSCURE" and all the other remakes, I literally cried while listening and now I just listened to "THE UNRAVELING". I'm a very big Diru fan till "Withering to death." (which was a masterpiece by the way). "THE MARROW OF A BONE" still was a good album but then they changed so much... The main problem I have with their music after "THE MARROW OF A BONE" isn't the music itself, I just can't stand Kyo grownling all the time. I loved what he did with his voice back then, 'cos it was so unique and crazy and somehow there where so many emotions. I guess that's the reason why I fell in love with them, because their music was that "crazy" combined with all those emotions, if you guys know what I mean. xD
I just wrote this so you guys know where I'm coming from when I talk about "THE UNRAVELING". So here is what I think:

Disc 1:

01. Unraveling
After listening to the first 30 seconds I was like O.O "What, old Diru are back??!!!??". Then I started praying that the song will continue that way - my prayers were heard! God, I missed those kind of songs from them for sooooo long!!! Love it!!!

02. Waza
This song was never on any CD release before, it was just featured on their 1998 VHS release "Kaede ~if trans...~" and an alternated version of the video was again featured on "Mousou Toukakugeki". Therefore I was very surprised to see "Waza" on the tracklist. It is also often referred to as "Karma" maybe you guys know it under that name, because 業 could be read as waza (kun reading) or gou (on reading), if I'm right. And if you read it as gou it's translation would be karma. But if you read it waza it can mean buisness, work, act, performance, deed or something along those lines (that's what my book says at least xD).
Because the song is originally from 1998, it sounds very old school Diru, I think. Kyo is grownling in some parts, but not as much as before and I don't find it annoying. I like old school Diru. (^.^)

03. Kasumi
I really, really, REALLY was afraid of a remake of this song, because I love it and I guess most fans do. But it is a successful remake and I will definitely listen to it again!

04. Karasu
I always thought that song was underrated among Diru fans. If I would have had faith in this release from the beginning I would have been verry happy to see it on the tracklist. After listening to the first three songs I had high hopes for this one and it really was good! It's like "old school Diru" meets "Withering to death. Diru". Fans of this song won't be disappointed I think and people who don't really cared for it before may like it now.

05. Bottom of the death valley
After "Karasu" another great song originally from "Kisou"! And its remake is also as good as Karasu's.

06. Unknown.Despair.Lost
On the "JEALOUS" single this one was called "Unknown...Despair...a Lost", but "鴉 -karasu-" was also changed to only "鴉".
Isn't a bad one, but my least favourite from the album. Maybe because I love the original so much. (Now that I think of it, I could say to every song on this album I love its original so much, the song choices really are great!)
But I love the sound of songs like "JEALOUS", "Unknown...Despair...a Lost" and "-I'll-" and don't want them to be changed.

07. THE FINAL
This is one of my all time favourites! I was even more afraid of its remake than of the remake of "Kasumi". Again I don't think it would have needed a remake and I will always prefer the original, but I can't deny that it's really good and if this one would have been released first maybe I would prefer it instead.

Disc 2 (Complete Production Edition Only):

01. MACABRE
This one is over 16 minutes long and therefore almost 6 minutes longer than its original!
I really love this remake, maybe even more than the original, but this may change from day to day. (^-^)

02. Unraveling (Unplugged Ver.)
I always love unplugged versions and 'cos I loved the original already, I also love this one! Moreover it isn't a typical unplugged version, you guys will hear what I mean.

03. THE FINAL (Unplugged Ver.)
I always dreamed of an unplugged version of "THE FINAL"! :heart:heart:heart:heart
To be honest I almost cried while listening. It's just beautiful!

I really like "THE UNRAVELING" but I'm a little sad that it isn't an original studio album, because those remakes are really great and I would have loved to have another great album like "VULGAR" or "Withering to death."
But I will listen to it for sure the next weeks and if I get my money from work I will buy it as soon as possible, 'cos I want the 2CD+DVD version because of the unplugged versions!
I'm sorry, I haven't really written something about the music just how I feel about the songs, but I'm too tired to be more specific about the music, I had a long day. xD

All in all it feels like the Diru I fell in love with are back, I'm happy! o(^-^)o

Haha, I will admit its a very impressive remake, but sorry I don't think it tops the genius of Agitated screams of maggots unplugged.

Thanks for the review! I am excited to hear it now. I would be happy to know that they didn't continue in that horrible sound from the last album.

Btw has anyone heard the remastered Urobouros? How are the bonus songs? I hope they're crap cause I can't be tempted to buy it as I have both the US and Japanese versions damnit!

Chibi-Chan 21st April 2013 02:58 PM

Has someone else listened to the album already? I would like to hear everyone's opinions! ^-^

And btw, I just buyed to tickets for the show on 06/11 in Köln (Cologne), I'm soooooo excited to see them after so many years! Back then I went 3 years in a row, starting from their first live outside asia in 2005 in Berlin! Whaaaa~~~ and this year I will see them again!!! o(≧▽≦)o

Chibi-Chan 15th May 2013 09:28 PM

No one listened to THE UNRAVELING?

Yumsushi 17th May 2013 03:58 AM

I listened to it once but I think I was too busy doing other things cause I have no opinion to offer. Need to seriously listen to it!

susiowong 22nd May 2013 06:10 PM

I bought the album but some ****er stole it from my mailbox.

**** it I'm just going to wait for the European release to buy it again, it's going to have bonus tracks on it.

Anyway, I downloaded about a day after it released and my mind was blown to pieces. Chibi-chan pretty much highlighted everything awesome about it. I like this remake album A LOT. Every single track on there did not let me down in the slightest. My favorites are the remakes of Karma and karasu.

Also, macabre is even more epic now.

Chibi-Chan 24th May 2013 10:05 PM

Stolen from the mailbox? What the...???!!! That's really mean! -.- Poor you! :(
